    Wheel badge

Anyone got a badge off one of these ? Visit My Website I stupidly threw it away when it fell off without thinking I couldve just glued it back on ! I have the middle bit but would take that aswell if necessary, I have a thought they arent cheap from the dealer which is why Im asking here. If someone in Wellington has one, Ill be straight round
  4. Thanks for all the confirmation guys, Ill be seeing my friend at work and will have a chat with her and will probably go to the dealers with her this time for one last chance before we take it higher.
  5. Rare cars like this are always tricky to value. The e39 540i/6 is just as rare and there is one on a yard at the moment for 12k. It is however in a sorry state with a horrid colour combo. As pointed out already I think a decent e34 540i auto is around 5k but not much more. I honestly think luck rather than judgement will come into play on a valuation with your uncles car because its worth what anyone is prepared to pay for it. One minute I think 10k is a bargain, the next I think about two e39 540i/6's that are around at the moment for not alot more. Then there are the e34 M5's that are selling for 12k at the moment. Id expect the 540 to blow the M5 away, but how much value do you place on the 'M' badge ? We'd all love to see some photos anyway.
  6. Thats just it, she has been back to the dealer and they said it wasnt a warranty issue so they wouldnt help. They charged her a couple of hundred to deglaze them and since them the dealership has gone under and the new place doesnt want to know. Im not sure if her's is a sport or not, Ill talk to her tomorrow.
  7. After doing some research last night it looks like there was a recall of Swifts (in the UK at least) due to the pads being excessively hard and causing an obscene amount if noise. She's had the car for about six months now and rather than getting used to it she is thinking of selling it.
  8. A friend of mine bought a new Suzuki Swift a couple of months ago (8k kms on the clock new) but she has been having a few problems with it since. Unfortunately the Suzuki dealer down here has a similar attitude to Jeff Grey in that they couldnt give a rats ar$e about her because she didnt buy the car from them, anyway..... The problem she has is that when cold the brakes are so sensitive that its like performing an emergency stop every time she even thinks about applying the brakes. Its a little better when they are warm but at the moment she is almost at the point of selling the car. The last time she took it in, they said they couldnt find a problem but would 'deglaze' the discs to see if it would help. What 'deglaze' means I dont know, but although it was a bit better for a while its back to being super sensitive. The dealers have washed their hands of it and have refused to help any more so does anyone have ideas that might help ?

    E34 Picsssss

Correct me if Im wrong, but I believe all 535is' had M badges from the factory. At least everyone Ive seen has had them.
  10. PM me a price and tyre brand etc if you dont mind.
  11. Yeah baby They will look the nuts on the beast, well done fella. Almost as good as my Alpinas
  12. A friend is looking for a set of 18's, perhaps 19's with decent tyres on so no triangle or wanli rubbish. Budget is a bag of sand (1k)....anyone have anything ?
  13. Im not entirely sure about the e34 but generally the sunroofs have a pair of holes at the front corners where the water is supposed to drain out and at the back aswell. Open the roof and have a look in the front corners. An e38 as little floats that block the holes to stop leaves etc getting stuck in there but Ive only seen them on e38's. So all sorts of rubbish can get in and block the drains. Get a water bottle and slowly squirt it into the hole, you should see it drain out somewhere around the front wheel arch. If it doesnt drain you have a blockage. Either a very long piece of wire or a squirt from an air compressor should do the trick. A blockage will mean the water builds up until it starts leaking in via the sunroof mechanism itself. Usually you get soggy front footwells but water will get in anyway it can. Incidently the seal around a roof is only for wind noise and keeps the majority of rain out but not all of it, hence the drains.

    E30 Line Up

    Looking dood fellas.
  15. OEM, or original equipment manufacturer, means the parts are made by the same manufacturer that make the 'genuine' parts the dealer sells. They are usually a much lower price because they dont get 100% put on buy the dealer. Id say in 80% of the cases Ive bought OEM, the parts have had BMW part numbers stamped on them anyway !
  16. It needs a proper clean, the bumpers (which look like poor replicas) to be properly painted and fitted and a change of interior. Then perhaps it would be worth the money, but the silver one down South was in much better condition than this and it went for not much more than 10k With an odd colour combination like this it needs to look mint, but it looks awful.
  17. Oh where do I start !!! THe powerflex bushes att eh very least, an Alpina front spoiler to everything too

    MP3 Player

I think the original thinking behind this was not to make life difficult for the users but the cost to the music industry in general with piracy. How do you think they would cope if you could just hook up to to your mates pc and stick on all the music he has with a simple drag and drop? Dont forget the ipod originally came out when the industry was already suffering with internet downloads and then along comes this portable hard drive that can store thousands of tracks which you just plug in and copy them too. Thats why you had to 'pair' your ipod to a specific installation of itunes, to make it harder to share music with your friends. It obviously still very easy for anyone with five mins access to google, but to 90% of users it was probably enough to stop them from copying music.
  19. That will teach me to only read the initial posts.....of course you can add Jonno to that list aswell
  20. Personally Id trust Keith if you want new, or go to Ray for his suggestion on the second hand ones he has. Both are in the business, both know what they are talking about, both give cracking deals. No point in calling the experts and then asking the rest of us for advice !
  21. All my experience with them is they are rubbish. Sorry mate. The aerials they come with are poor and you need direct line of sight to the mast in the first place. A couple of mates have tried them aswell with various levels of success but no-one has stuck with them. Your better off burning movies and dvd's to a hard drive mate. [e] d*ck Smith do have a 14 day return policy though if your not happy.
  22. You can always return goods bought at auction that are 'not as described'. So if you turn up to collect them having already paid you can get it refunded if they are damaged. Alternatively pay him in cash when you collect. That way you can just walk away.
  23. Do you have the tv/monitor ?

    Paint code ?

But thats what I mean mate. There is no paint code for 'shadow chrome' its not a paint, its an 'effect' you get with first painting the wheel black and then silver. Im pretty sure there is no such thing as 'shadow chrome' paint
