If your talking about my old m-pars....they are not 9.5 on the rear.

Thats got to be the funniest thing Ive heard all year....it hasnt crossed your mind that your more alert because your breaking the law !?!?!Priceless.
-
If your under the speed limit in the first place why are you on the lookout for the police ?So far all the 'reasons' people have listed on BS to justify radars are just the same old excuses for people who want to speed and get away with it.

Luke, I can totally understand where you coming from in terms of knowing the history of the car. Number one rule is always buy a car based on condition and service history and from what youve said this one sounds like a well looked after car. But having said that dont let it blind the fact that the car has very few of the options that you would expect on an e39. Now perhaps leather seats, multi-function steering wheels and all that doesnt interest you and if thats the case there is little doubt that this car will do everything you want it to. However there are so many e39's available at the moment that to you are bound to find plenty have that the same sort of service history and have been looked after just as well but are much better specified with options.

Sorry to say this but I agree with Yuen. Looks pricey for what ultimately is a poverty spec 528.

I did the front end on the 7 and they made a huge difference. Well worth the effort even if you drive like a granny IMO.

Get the part number and hit the web. I was quoted $800 for an airbag senser on the 7, spent some time on the ebay and found one for $80. Got it here to find it was for a facelift :-( Then I found a website that showed all the cars the part was fitted to and that my part was on pretty much every model of that era and I eventually got one from Ray out of an e36 ti for another $80. You can add up the savings yourself, even with buying the wrong one. I cant find the link to the website that lists all the cars a part was on, but search for bmw mobile tradition and maximillian and hopefully you'll find it. You might find out that the part was on lots of cars other than an e39 and that really expands your chances of finding one.

Im in for tonight, usual place and the usual time ?

On first impressions Id be inclined to agree with you Paul. Very very easy to kit out a car and call it something it isnt. The sports seats are a dead giveaway as I really cant see an S5 not having sports seats as standard. It would be worth doing some research on the web to find out how you really identify an S5.

Yeah I know, but there have been a few things elsewhere that Ive not been happy about so I had to give them a crack....besides I got the mini !

Unfortunately I didnt get a chance to say anything, they didnt put it on the bill Its front wheel drive so a little tricky in the wet, still had some great fun in it though When Im driving no-one can get behind me ! It was great to have isofix in the rear but totally impractical with only two doors. I ended up sticking the baby in the front (minus the airbag) and the 4 year old in the back. For around town it was simply superb, a good ride (perhaps a little firm), very nippy, easy access to all the controls etc, I thoroughly enjoyed it

Hahaha as a 17 year old we (Rongotai XI) played the Wellington Womens team and gave them a hiding. No pace, no body strength, no ball control at speed....once you got over the fact that it was a woman you were kicking it was easy !!
-
HB old man, you have to come out for a beer tomorrow night now !
-
If only you'd mentioned this a couple of weeks ago

Sorry I was assuming that you would be using it on the track only, and then assuming that you could get insurance for only using it on the track.
-
But if you were bringing it for yourself why would you worry about what its worth or what to sell it for ?
-
Yes people, its my old one which is Josh's new one !

Anything over 18's on NZ roads will kill the ride. What are you doing with the m-pars then ?

Looks like there'll be a V8 M3 motor for sale soon !!!

Mate I couldnt care less about seeing an M3 wrapped around a lamp-post. But if youve got the balls to shout off about having the photos then post them up, the photos obviously not your balls On a side note, whats with the posts that are being deleted on various threads recently ? Someone is keeping busy behind the scenes and it makes for odd reading sometimes. Leaving BS and going to nzhondas reminds me of quote I once heard about kiwis going to Australia...what was that again ? -

I can vouch for the e39 540i/6....its an absolute beast and Im first in line if my mate ever considers selling his ! I shouldve bought it myself, I did find it after all and then dared him to put his money where his mouth was after giving it a good caning just to be sure it was worth it

Paul, if I was in the market for an e34 I would be round at your place now handing over 6k in reddies. I know nothing about pricing them but judging by whats being asked for top end e30's and how cheap e39's are (dont start me on e38's) I think 6k would be daylight robbery. The problem with car valuation is that everyone has a very different idea and with something as rare as yours it might take a fair amount of time to find someone who is interested. Do you want to swap for my e30, I might be tempted to leave the Alpina's on if you do the same with the style 5's

If you read any of Clarksons books (and Ive only done a couple) he raves about BMW's, especially the e39 which he rated as the best ever car when it came out and throughout its lifetime. Yes, he might have a go about all the different settings on the modern M5 but who wouldnt. The reality is that you would press most of them once and then just hit the M button and be done with it. I felt quite stoked about getting something as simple as the electronically adjustable steering column on the touring, but once its set I wont touch it again so whats the point ?
