I came here in 1986 with my parents, after couple of years my aunt and family came out, then my grandparents, then my great aunt and uncle and then their daughter and family. That makes 16 of us. Does that upset you just as much ?

Tape for me too. I doubt I could get the plates off the 7 if I tried.

I cant believe I just read all the replies after I lost my lunch on the first one

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAYou have got to be joking right. I was in there a few weeks ago and saw the bird on the front desk giving a cusomer a right mouthful because the customer was back 30 mins after dropping her car off expecting it to be ready. The fact that the woman had been told that it would only take 15 mins and her car was still where she left it (meaning they hadnt even looked at it) didnt seem to worry the receptionist one little bit ! I have more recent (and personal) experiences but I just cant be bothered. The name may have changed but the ar$eholes they have working there are still the same. Go to Page and enjoy customer service as it should be....going there tomorrow as it happens !

Ahhh but thats why I said 'if you do it properly'. Im not talking about just sticking bits in and hoping for the best.Do we so many n00bs on here now wanting to slam and turbo 316's that thats the assumption we make when someone talks about doing this sort of thing ? Which is the way it should be done and the numbers you have sound pretty good to me. When you start with a standard 325 doing 170 (if your lucky) I wouldve though getting 230 was quite substantial rather than 'only'.Oh and Ive seen dyno's of good 2.7's getting 210 but they have had the work done properly so perhaps the magazines are correct after all.

I can second the Falkens. I had the FK451's in 18' on the 740 and they stuck like glue. The Dunlop SP Sport 01's (I think that was their full name) that I replaced them with were very disappointing in comparison.

A good way to check the hoses is to park the car up and get someone to turn the steering wheel whilst you check the hoses with the bonnet up. Your unlikely to see any holes in the pipes (unless they are really knackered) but you should be able to see the oil leaking out. In my case it was shooting out of the pipe, over the heatshield and onto exhaust. HUGE clouds of white smoke from the 750 everytime I stopped and straigthened the wheels !

Doing a 2.7 properly will easily see 200bhp over the standard 170bhp. But the big gain is torque. Going the 2.8 route would give closer to 210-215bhp with torque rising to somewhere around 210 ! Thats a considerable amount more than a standard 167 is it not ? Its a relatively easy 'bolt on' job and the parts (I imagine) arent that hard to come by, so rather than saying 'just because' why do you guys think its a waste of time ?
-
My understanding is that the 2.8 is just doing exactly the same as the 2.7 but using a 2.8 crank from a 328,528 or even a 728 (IIRC) for example. You need a small bit manufactured on the end of the crank but thats it.Bravo, I was hoping for a bit more of an explanation my friend. What sort of costs are we talking about for a 2.7 convertion in NZ compared to swapping in another engine ? Everything Ive seen of a 2.7 convertion suggests that its relatively easy, relatively cheap (in the UK where the parts are plentyfull - so perhaps that gives it a head start) and ends up giving you a very good street car. 190bhp is not difficult to get with a chip and a cam (although Im happy to be corrected) and 210 is what you could easily expect from a 2.7 perhaps a little more with a 2.8 with the all important torque rising quite a bit.
-
So what were the reasons for doing a swap rather than going the 2.7 route ?
-
Not sure what I think about the plate holder, I have the plates just stuck to the 7 with double sided tape and it looks very smooth, but with these I can swap to the normal plates in less than 2 minutes. E30's just scream for europlates dont they

Yes there is a huge plastic spanner that your supposed to use. Have no idea where to get one other than from the dealers. Im sure Ive seen one on TM recently though.

open a command prompt and type ipconfig I assume that tells you what you want to know.

Im not a huge fan of the e36 shape but I would be hard pressed to buy one of the others ahead of the BMW. The Evo would tempt me though. Ive had two friends with S2000's and both of them have said that as much fun as they are when your on the limit, they are bloody awful at any other time. One waited 6 months for his to arrive (brand new) from Japan but then sold it after 3 months, he hated it that much.

I need a few clips off things rather than the whole units, can you please ask if he's willing to part with just clips. Also what does he want for the tv screen and associated bits to make it go.

If you have a BT capable phone, just buy a BT kit off ebay (my sony one was 150 bucks) and get that installed. It can still be wired into the stereo by any sparky to mute when a call come in and you stick the speaker under the steering wheel All up mine was bought and installed for about 300.
