  2. I agree Jazz. There was a tyre shop in New North Rd just before the railway overbridge who preferred to only replace 4 tyres, 2 as a bare minimum. If you only wanted one tyre, he would politely tell you to F^&* off.
  3. Just to prove it, taken this morning. I then drove it straight up the hill in the background. Cheers
  4. Fronts lasted 75,000 before replacing. Dunlop SP Sport 270's. Mainly trundle up and down the motorway from Glenfield to Whangaparaoa and back, but he doesn't hang around when driving in town.
  5. 5 Speed must have been out of another car? My tii was a really neat car. Now owner by Andy Wallace who punts it around in the BMW series. Was bog standard when I had it though only with Cromodora's. Never driven a 1602, but in standard trim, I would image they wouldn't set the world alight in the performance stakes. My 2cw
  6. The E34 M5 I had displayed significant negative camber on the rears, but wore totally evenly, demonstrating the great setup they had as standard. Still got 25k kms out of tyres too.My business partner has just replaced the rear tyres on his 3 year old maxima for the first time at 100,000km. Yes 5 zeros!
  7. The lowest form of wit. I try to keep it simple Andy

    Trusty TradeMe

Hey, that was my 200th post, pretty cool for an old guy with too much work on his hands.

    Trusty TradeMe

At least he didn't have his lunch out I guess!!
  10. Cheers mate, no worries. I think fundamentally we agree on most things. I probably just came across a bit brash initially. Like to think I'm younger than I am. Caught myself listening to Eddie Rabbit on Viva this moning ! *Shudder*
  11. How many of us have been in this position before!
  12. Thumbs up from me at 6'5.5"
  13. When's it on, I might have to take the Territory and a tow rope for Andrew!
  14. That white E39 on ice is fantastic, well spotted. So are you going as Anna Nicole or not?
  15. You don't want to borrow my SUV?
  16. I like your generalised hatedness.FYI, I drive an SUV (Territory) that goes off road about twice a month on to work sites, tows Andrew's car every now and then and transports the wife and kids and their mates (that's seven in the car) around all at the same time. Please find me a replacement that is not an SUV and does all that. I also drive a 325i that has basically been M'd. Oh, a lot like yours! I cut corners when the conditions allow and have NEVER put anyone's life in danger. (unless you count the time I tried to do a donut last month in a totally isolated subdivision in Taupo with 7 of us in the Territory and only succeeded in getting a stone stuck in the wheel. Ask the Cookie Monster or Thor, they both know.) I also have a number of friends. If you took the time to have a beer with me, I might let you be my friend too! Here endeth arogant, self assured rant.
  17. 3pedals. I appreciate your comments and have only just got around to revisiting this thread.Firstly, I agree with Cain in that there is very rarely an accident on the road, just an avoidable collision. It comes down to people not driving to the current conditions of the road and/or their vehicle. The only real other factor is mechanical failure. If you cannot stop in half the visible distance ahead, you are driving too fast. Generally it comes down to a failure of the squidgy organic nut behind the wheel in the words of Jeremy Clarkson. My comments about cutting corners were based on the premise that at all times I have complete vision through the corner and beyond. There are plenty of roads in New Zealnd that exhibit the quality that allows you to safely pass on to the other side of the road without endangering any one else. 3pedal's later comment on the guy that head on'd 4 girls came down to a failure on that drivers part to complete the pass without 100m full visibility through out the entire manouvre. 3pedals, I know 2 firemen, depending on who you are, you may be one of them. I don't envy you job, but I do salute you for what you do for the community. My good mate Noddy certainly doesn't like cutting kids out of cars either and for that reason, I feel that I'm a fairly safe driver especially with the wife and 3 kids in the car. Notwithstanding, I've been meaning to enrol in an Advanced Skills Driving Course for a while now. I hear Mike Eady's BMW one is excellent. Cheers, Jock *Edit for typos
  18. Fantastic, my wife wouldn't let me near the garden if I had one of those! Yeeeha
  19. Hey man, calm down. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. If I can straight line a corner I a) save time save fuel *edit*, don't know why the cool dude in the sunnies showed up? c) save tyres. As long as I have clear line of sight, I will always cut corners. Call me a renagade in my SUV if you want, but in 25 years of driving, I've never had a head on. Cheers, Jock

Try looking for a NZ new (or import for that matter) AE82 Corolla, GT Twin Cam, the FWD ones. I had one, cost me $1k, thrashed the living crap out of it fopr about 50k kms over 3 years and sold it for $1k. Couldn't go wrong. Rust never sleeps though. Great for a run around IMHO.
  23. Do like I did and just have no surrounds. Nobody gets to advertise anything for free on any of my cars. The first thing I do with any new car is remove all free advertising. If they want to advertise they can pay for it. North Harbour Ford are good, the plates on the Territory are still "naked".
  24. You guys all talking abouut NCEA reminds me of how old I must be getting! At your age, I was testing the theory of handbrake slides in my Mum's Triumph Herald. I found out verrrrry quickly that 80 kms sideways on gravel in a Herald is a little toooo fast! Got it on to 2 wheels and fortunately not its roof. Old in body, not in mind though. Partying with Gus and Andy in Taupo this weekend. Hopefully the body can keep up, or are they really lame?
