Cops and the 4 kmh over posted speed limits

in my view, the root cause of all crashes are stupid idiot people. speed is just a byproduct of this. you can kill someone going at slower speeds i.e. 40km/h you can easily have an accident going 80 - 100km/h (with bald tires / distractions etc) falling asleep on the wheel can get you killed at any speed. having unbuckled kids / people in the car a few months ago i saw a car right in front of me got T boned at an intersection running the red light. He was going no faster than 50 - 60km crossing that intersection and the car that hit him was going roughly the same. in conclusions: idiots, the lack of education and lack/lapse of judgement is what kills. who here honestly believes that we get the driving education we need by just passing our restricted / full licenses? -

wasn't there that guy who did a burnout after a car meet, went out of control and hit an oncoming bike? i'm sure that guy wasn't nowhere near 'speeding' just a full on idiot. -

why cant they implement something like an average speed/time traps instead? they have it in Aus. from my understanding of it is, 1 camera at the beginning of a section (i.e. a 5km stretch of road) and 1 at the end. the system takes photo of your car at the beginning and at the end of the section and calculates how long it took you to do the 5km section. if it calculates you were speeding then you get a ticket. -
e46 suspension service - struts. D'oh!? guidance please
Docile replied to Olaf's topic in Maintenance
oh yeah tierod doesnt need to be removed. only the swaybar link. to remove swaybar link and put it back on you need the bolt to line up straight enough to remove the nut and the bolt from the strut hole. to do this, what i did was get a scissor jack and put it on the brake disk hub and lifted the whole arm until the bolt is straight enough. then magic!! -
e46 suspension service - struts. D'oh!? guidance please
Docile replied to Olaf's topic in Maintenance
just did mine on the wagon... both wheels up everything unbolted already apart from the nuts on the top hat which was just hand tightened. the lower control arm would not go low enough as it was still clinging to the strut. so i kicked it down. it went off the struts in 2 kicks and the strut was free -
i currently have bridgestone RFT on my car. its harsh and grip is not even anywhere i expected it to be.

oooo would have been keen to take the 135i out

take good pictures and post. if you can, remove airbox and other things in the way so you can have a good look. most problems, depending on your backyard grease monkey skills can be fixed without going to the local mechanic. as i said trace the coolant leak, if that fails first things to check : drivebelt system / pulleys reservoir reservoir cap hoses waterpump radiator think that's all of it. might be lucky and just be a hose
-
Yeah just track it down from where it is leaking. Follow the leak basically. have had quite a few from the smallest hole on a hose to the reservoir bottle blowing up lol.Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

if you had proper coolant in the system, when it dries and cools off, usually it would leave a white residue. could be a number of things. checked the waterpump again? burst hoses?
-
been meaning to try it. how bad is it on the daily?
-
as per title. under engine cover for e46 320i. but im assuming it would be the same for all e46?

Anyone got a recommendation or trick to get baked on brake dust off the wheel? my wheels have little "pimples" that wont come off and its annoying the crap out of me been using dragon's breathe but it's still there.

Hi all, e82. just noticed this now. heater on front vents are blowing cold air unless the temp is maxed out then really hot air comes out from the front vents. i usually have it on 21c so barely noticed it before. but it seems that the heater works fine on the leg warmers and the windscreen on all temps. anyone got an idea?

It's Japanese common courtesy in the service industry. You will even see this kind of service at petrol stations in Japan. they will pump your gas, check tire pressures, wash windows and check fluids. and when you drive out, some will guide you out of traffic and if you look through the rear view mirror, you will see them bowing with their hats off.
