M50 came out in '89.Won't be M30. M20 was up to 1990 1989('90)-1996 E34 520i had the M50B20, was updated '93 with VANOS, M50TUB20. 1990('90)-1995 E34 525i had the M50B25.

When I was upgrading my lights I bought these off Trade me. Seeing as there was a huge delay in delivery I bought some from Ripco instead. For sale are a pair of upgrade bulbs: It was stated in the trade me ad that they were rated at 5300K. This should give you a nice white light opposed to the usual yellowish glow. It makes the front of the car look much more modern. H1 12v 55w They should fit E36 headlights. E39's take H7, so these won't fit E39's. Make sure you check what bulbs yours take before putting your hand up. I paid around $42 IIRC. Will let them go for $25+postage. They won't come with any guarantee, but I will test them before they're sent. If theres any interest, I might be able to secure some more pairs from a mates father. Will see how it goes.

I think you guys are overreacting a little bit! Its not that bad. The only bits i'd change are the front corners, rear lights, and the gear knob! And maybe the muffler depending on how sh*t it sounded.

M50B20 M50TUB20 and M52B20 are the only 320i engines from and E36. The M50B20 doesn't have Vanos, the other two do. The M52 replaced the M50 in 1994. The M52TUB20 wasn't used in the E36's, only used in the early E46's and E39's before they upgraded to the M54 in 2001. Hope that helps.

Umnitza is a very high quality brand. I had a similar problem to yours, albeit mine with halogen bulbs. Took it into an AA center and they re-adjusted the lights for free and now they're a thousand time better than before. I would suggest taking it in, even if it doesn't fix the problem then you know where to go from there.

The theory is that the new number plate camera's won't be able to read the different font, but this isn't why they're illegal.

AFAIK this was common knowledge. Personalized Plates have a monopoly in NZ. Any plates not made by Lisensys are illegal. Sounds as though the officer was pretty harsh on you. No warning, and following you home, bit excessive IMO.

I had a quick look on trade me into the prices, and surprisingly there're quite comparable. I agree with you on NZ stereotype of them though.

Couldn't they at least get a vehicle that looks decent? Maybe a Merc van. Previa's are icky.
