Thanks gents ... it seems that there is indeed no business navigation disc that exists for NZ at all. The disc in the E53 is apparently the High Version which I have and tried and it didn't work. Thanks all.

On hold - Also this will be removed from the car this weekend.

Not difficult to fit .. .everything is plug and play basically. The kit comes with everything needed for install and for both type of plugs found in the E46. The hardest part is probably pushing the unit back into the dash really, as you have to place the wires a certain way so it doesn't get caught on what limited room there is behind it. I'd rate it 1/10 for difficulty overall. Oh and pulling the centre vent out ... that was a bit of a bitch. I have had a play with a genuine Dynavin in an E46 and to be honest there's very difference in my opinion. I too was surprised how well it works. Yep, east Auckland (botany area) - txt or call 021 281 0155 Oh one more thing, although I am not completely certain about this ... I believe if your car has the Harmon Kardon system, then something needs to be done to have it play through all the speakers or something .... Best to ask someone that knows about car stereos or google about it.

Okay, so I got curious as to how these things work and bought one just to play with ... Then thought to myself that it was sacrilegious to be adding weight when BMW have worked so hard to take it out. Unit is basically brand new and has only been powered on a hand full of times to test and drive around in. Works bloody well actually - hands free ... radio ... navigation ect ... I've not tried playing DVD or CD through it at all so don't ask. still in car so happy to demonstrate that it works really good. Has the latest iGo Map (Dec 2013) on SD (It can run both iGo Primo or iGo8 maps ... have both on one SD card - so just use whichever you prefer). This is a clone system that runs on WinCE 6.0 Has adaptor plugs for both the new and old plugs so will work for all E46s. Has CAN-Bus thing for the steering wheel controls, although I don't know if these work as I don't have any on my car - I presume so. Antenna adaptor included also. Has a remote, but I have never used it. $500 firm.

In used condition so expect some scratches on the main bar. Factory E46 M3 Strut brace - main bar and the plastic ///M cover included - no strut top nuts. Sold to Ray : ) sample photo - but basically the same as what you will get.

WTB- E70 X5 CCC Professional Navigation System (main & screen)
M3_Power replied to M3_Power's topic in Want to buy
Thanks all, have emailed quite a few already and many have come back to say they don't have anything. I guess overseas it is then. -
Long shot this one ... Anyone have a CCC unit and 8.8" screen with wiring to the CCC fan. Only need these two components. Or even just the CCC Unit is fine actually, I can make it work on the smaller screen quite easily. PM pricing please. P.S I know I can get them from ebay for quite cheap, but just seeing what's available locally first.

OEM-BMW parts from ebay in USA 1/3 the cost of NZ. WHY?
M3_Power replied to kulgan's topic in General Discussion
I am just curious how many of you have shown proof to local dealership parts supplier the overseas pricing and ask them to see how close they could match it? I can honestly say I hardly buy stuff from overseas now and support the local suppliers. Wait till you have a bad experience and struggle to get your money back on an expensive item despite knowing all the ins and outs of how to do it - or have a part break within the warranty period and realise that you have little to no come back against the o/s supplier (or the cost of sending the item back outweighed the savings many times over). I recently purchased a shut-off valve that was $140 (about $20 more than trying to import it from o/s) ... luckily I purchased local as the first 2 that came through were of the incorrect length from BMW Germany and had no chance of fitting at all - it was only based on the fact that there was direct communication from the official channels to tell BMW that this part has been manufactured incorrectly (probably a whole batch of them) that I was finally able to procure a correctly manufactured item. Try that with an o/s supplier - you'll get no where. -
I guess what I am trying to say the first time round is just because it has had mostly highway miles doesn't necessarily guarantee it is "better". I'd rather see one with an immaculate service record and signs it has been looked after over just assuming mostly highway miles = better. I can show you a couple of Jap imported Hondas with "mostly highway miles" that have been used exclusively for the "Shuto loop" at highly illegal speeds that would't qualify as "better"

The AP rotors are rubbish .... loads of guys with CSLs that run the AP rotors all hate them. They crack with RS29s - I can show you a local CSL with a similar AP setup that has cracked rotors after a couple of local track days. Most race guys in the US and UK that fit the AP kit now go with Performance friction rotors - much much better design and material.

I hear this one all the time and over the years I've started to disagree with this sentiment. You can bet your bottom dollar each time that given 2 identically spec'd cars with similarly well cared for condition but differing mileage - if priced similarly than the low km Remuera school bus example will always sell before the high km (high way use) example. Whilst I agree if the km difference is marginal then the high km open road runner will probably be better, but this isn't always the case. There are other components that get worn over open road miles (it's not like because it's travelling on open roads that components wear less). Moving components wear not just over the type of driving involved but also the distance travelled. Metal fatigue also most certainly has a correlation with the amount of distance it has travelled just as it would with how hard it has been used. Great car by the way ... very well spec'd that one.

Correct ... But looking through the retro-fit manual it seems that if the car has bluetooth handsfree phone kit then the antenna is pre-installed from the factory. The unit itself it seems is a BMW Business M-ASK system - I've also looked into it on NCS and it seems that the navigation function has just been turned off that's all. Anyone with a BMW Business Navigation DVD disc that I can borrow for a few hours to try it out??
-
Sorry Allan, turns out the M3 horns are different to standard E46 items. Found!! Thanks HellBM : )

Okay, very quickly. I know that the cars can retrofit CCC or CIC but these are costly. During some of my investigation it seems that the hidden menus show some sort of Navigation recognition?? Am I correct in assuming that perhaps with the right disc and activation code that I can actually get Navigation without resorting to retrofit? I am thinking this is a Business unit with Navigation function turned off?? Shot of the hidden Menu: Random Professional Navigation disc out of another car (didn't work obviously)

Should look like this

No problem Paul, more than happy to help with my opinions haha!!! Looks like you've adopted quite a good solution to it all. Nice work with the home made diff carrier!! It's times like this that I wished I could weld!! LOL Appreciate the explanation on not plating over the weld, I figured that may have been the case but wasn't quite sure looking at the photos if you had grinded down the weld. As for the CSL ... As I've said before, the day I find a crack on it is the day it gets turned into a racecar
-
Amazing work as per usual Paul. You should also note that you are a ticketed welder so this is NOT a backyard type repair. I don't think anyone would hesitate to buy this car with all the attention to detail you pay to each and every time you work on this car. p.s. Where did you get the rear axle carrier from? Is it a brand specific unit or a generic one that you purchased?? p.s.s Love the home made epoxy applicator gun/drill!!! (you should hire it out to BMW or better still, mass produce it and sell it on m3forums : P) I do have one question however - how come you didn't make the LHR reinforcement plate larger so that it boxed in the repaired crack?
-
And one out East Auckland thanks

Most say you shouldn't mix passion and hobby with business as you will soon get tired of the hobby and lose the passion - Ray is a true exception to this rule. Very rare to find true enthusiasts in the business who are out to look after other enthusiasts. I only wished he wasn't based so far away from where I am!!!
-
You are going to be disappointed I am afraid. Have spoken to people that have done this and this is NOT a track day type drive where you go hard out. It is VERY controlled (with set braking points, shift RPM, corner speeds ect ect). Basically all you get is throttle on the straights (and apparently even this is limited if the car you are in is capable of insane speeds - they do this by limiting the gear you can be in).
-
Hi all these are gone sorry - someone txt'd me within 5 minutes of the advert going up and came and took them this morning.

2 old bathroom mirrors - in good condition. Came off from my bathroom renovation 2 years ago - both 1490 x 1000 (two in front in photo below) 1 brand new but has a slight chip in the corner when the contractor accidentally knocked it 1500 x 900 (in the box still as shown in photo below). From memory the crack was minor and the mirror could be re-cut and reused. FREE!!! Just want them out of the house, but you MUST TAKE ALL 3!!! GONE!!!!

That actually doesn't look too hard to repair to be honest. I've been doing a fair bit of carbon work myself on the side learning as I go. It honestly isn't as hard as it looks (just got to get a good scale to weigh out the resin properly and have a clock so you can following the curing time if you are using a high speed resin. I would personally use moulding clay on the underside to mould the general shape and then layer 3 layers on top, trying to match the weave as close as possible. Then sand and reshape. You can then either clear coat it like that or layer a full length 2x2 over the top so the weaves are consistent. I did this minor repair on a spare set of splitters myself ... turned out pretty good and you'd struggle to find where I actually repaired it Before After

Thanks Jooles, actually already have that on my watch list : ) Cheapest around at the moment that's for sure!!
