  1. Righto 12m of Bundy tube and a bender - let the fun begin!
  2. We are pretty surprised that BMW’S CEO, Norbert Riethfor, didn’t mention anything about an X6 hybrid yesterday during the press conference but according to Automotive News, BMW’s first full-hybrid vehicle will be the X6 and it will go into production very soon. The BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid, which originally made its debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, was shining on the floor of Detroit yesterday. That concept was developed by GM in partnerships with DaimlerChrysler and GM the hybrid system combines two compact, high-performance electric motors. According to the head of sales and marketing, Stefan Karuse, an X6 hybrid will go on sale in Europe in 2009. Unfortunately, Krause didn’t say anything about the X6 hybrid going on sale in the U.S. “The launch date will be next year, although the exact timing is not yet fixed,” Krause said. 3. Not sure, but that problem had our E34 doing the windscreen wiper madness.
  4. It looks like it was build to go sideways. Badass

    2.7 ECU??

Doing an M52 crank upgrade isn't fun, be prepared to bend over. Ask me how I know.

    2.7 ECU??

I would go the M52 route - but again. Budget a fair whack of money. Plenty have done it around the work and a few on this forum. An M20 2.5 is a nice upgrade over a 2 ltr. The 2.5 responds wells to headers (and ecu upgrades..) larger TB, extrude honed intake. All easy things to do.

    2.7 ECU??

I think the dyno will maybe give that 10hp. Hardly a huge difference. It will be significantly cheaper to tune motronic than use a piggy back. I too am not a fan of the 2.7 build - not enough power for all the work (unless you go fairly hardcore on it)

    2.7 ECU??

x2 - he will be able to use the stock motronic ECU and program that.
  9. Trust me - neither had I, I almost refused to believe it was the reason. Have proven it now on two separate connections and different OS/Computers.
  10. Besides the highly anticipated Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, the BMW X6 was the other main attraction at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. The BMW X6 will make its market debut in the second quarter of 2008 and will initially be available in two variants including the xDrive35i and the xDrive50i. The BMW X6 xDrive35i will be powered by a 3.0L inline 6-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque. The xDrive50i will be powered by a 4.4L V8 engine that produces 400 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. Both models come with twin-turbo and direct injection. 0-60 for the xDrive50i comes in at 5.3 seconds. A diesel variant is planned following the launch of the gasoline models. The model will be called the xDrive35d and will carry BMW’s 3.0L sequential twin-turbocharged turbodiesel. Expect the X6 to make its market debut this fall. BMW X6 Gallery:
  11. The BMW 1-Series Convertible made its stateside debut today at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show and will arrive in dealerships in mid-Spring 2008 carrying a price tag of around $40,000. That’s right a $40k for convertible pocket rocket. The BMW 1-Series convertible will come with the same engine options as the coupe. The 128 will be powered by a 3.0 liter inline 6-cylinder engine producing 230 horsepower. The 135i will be powered by BMW’s twin-turbocharged 3.0 liter inline 6-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower. BMW says that it will do 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. BMW 1-Series Convertible Gallery:

  13. They aren't that expensive?
  14. anyone..pleeeasseee beer or $ involved whatever you prefer.
  15. Is anyone with a bundy line bender and some experience building hard brake lines able to help me make 3 shortish lines for my racecar? I DIYed the double-flare and forced the stock tube to go where I want, but I'm not happy with it and don't want to drive it like that. I have the flaring tool and all the bundy/fittings. It needs to have a metric bubble flare on one end and a double flare on the MC side (i'm not sure how to make a bubble flare) Ideally ASAP or before the weekend of the 18th/19th. Thanks! (PM/email me)
  16. Or.."I was never faster than everyone else" would work hah

    Timing advance

    I possibly recalled wrong!
  18. It will be a cool project - keep us updated!
  19. I haven't raced in like 10 months now. I'm going to be gumby and slow and it looks like the first time I use the car will be in a qualifying session (yay )
  20. UPDATE: I'm still entered in the races and it is looking more likely I will be there. After a long discussion with Ireland Engineering we have decided to modify the pistons and go racing. It is probably a band-aid to fix a huge gaping wound but it will have to do. It appears the block machinist has taken way too much off the block as we have ended up with a CR of 10.25:1 instead of 9.75:1 and the head is still well within spec. Current exhaust/intake valve clearance is .050" thou - when the desired number is .070" + At this point I have ordered custom made h-beam conrods as a safety precaution and hopefully we won't need to change the bottom end again after all of this. The rods are significantly lighter than stock also - so some more power gained there. Again I would like to thank Gavin @ Hi Velocity through all of this. He has been busting his ass on sundays and holidays working on my car. He is one of our major forum sponsors (soon will have banners/etc) so give him your support whenever you need tuning/performance work. Now the open class guys can start worrying about my home made brakes! (I'm getting the lines re-done hah)

The 3.1 kit is A LOT of work.

    Timing advance

If i recall we added about 25 deg more advance before it started pinking (on 98) Better throttle response - bit more power. Worth doing really.
  23. Welcome - User name is E30-323Ti for the 2JZ swap
  24. Naturally I love the orange.
