  1. The 2008 BMW 5-Series performed the worst in a new side-impact crash test of luxury sedans by the Insurance Institute of Highway safety. The test showed what would happen if a truck or an SUV hit the side of the sedan at 31mph. While the air bags in the 2008 BMW 5-Series protected the head, the air bags that protect the chest and the abdomen area performed poorly. A spokesman for BMW said that while the test showed the 2008 5-Series has a strong body, dummies were injured when the car was impacted by the arm rest. On the other hand, the Acura RL, Kia Amanti and the Volvo S80 earned the highest rating, followed by the Mercedes E-Class and the Cadillac STS. Side-impact crashes are the most common of accident, injuring and killing 9,000 people in 2005. 2008 BMW 5-Series Gallery:

  3. Hah this is my loser way of keeping up
  4. Boost threshold is not when full boost comes on - it is the point at which the turbo starts to generate any boost. Fair enough Chris - I'm not knocking your idea, just giving you my thoughts. Don't get me wrong, I love Josh's car it's TFB and yours would be badass also. It's just not my cup of tea and I have a racecar that I can spend money on which is ultimately more rewarding for me.
  5. Maybe the Friday - but I'm not too fussed. I'll just take it easy in the race to get used to the power and brakes. Motor doesn't need to be run in really - I'll get most of that out of the way on the dyno.
  6. Coming to think of it - if I were you Chris i'd buy an E36 m3 for a fun car and E30 series your car. I'd put money a series car would be way more fun than a 400hp E30 on the road.
  7. Josh: I more mean you can't do 150 or 300 kph on the road. So why have that power? It is more fun ringing out a car with less power when driving. A boost threshold of 3500/4000 RPM in my view is not a fun driver. The 318 is around 2000 RPM and that is still irritating. Chris: There won't be a BMW unlimited class in the near future. Why not just S50 your car? It will be quicker than all your mates holdens/jappas. N/A is MUCH better to drive than turbo - fullstop. You'll save a tonne of cash and gain heaps of reliability.

  9. Well I've entered. So I bloody well hope so. Rough plan is - head/block build next week. Get car to workshop on teh Saturday next week. Put engine in - tune. Done. The head is costing about 3 times what I thought it would. But should flow very nicely with the planned mods.
  10. Are you buying a daily driver? Will you be able to race it? I found (personally) cars that have that much power are useless on the road and less fun than a 325/m3.
  11. Of the 700 units of the 2008 BMW M3 Coupe reserved for the UK market have sold out. Each M3 was ordered with an average of £4700 ($9,370) worth of options. Taking that into account, the average price of the car went up from £50,625 ($100,923) to £55,325 ($110,293). The top two options buyers opted for included the 19-inch alloy wheels and the DAB digital radio. In 2007, demand for the new M3 peaked at 1,800 cars. For 2008, sales of the BMW M3 are expected to top 2000 units including the convertible variant.
  12. This isn’t the first time someone’s put an M V10 engine into a 3-Series. Hartage did this last year when they took M divisions V10 550hp engine and dropped it into a BMW 3-Series. Bremgo, a German aftermarket BMW parts retailer, has decided to follow that route by taking the M5’s V10 507 horsepower engine, and dropping it into the 2008 BMW M3 Coupe. The stock 6-speed manual transmission has also been replaced with the M5/M6’s 7-speed SMG transmission. Bremgo added AC Schnitzer’s 20-inch wheels, Recaro aftermarket seats and a Hartage steerting wheel. Bremgo 2008 BMW M3 with M5/M6 V10 507hp engine Gallery:

  17. That is SERIOUS power! Can't wait to see what it runs at when it's leaned out a bit. Was that at HiVelocity? What ECU?

I personally think super low cars are stupid - if you want to go round corners. Do not lower an e30 100mm.
  19. Fisker delivered the first of the 150 2007 Fisker Latigo CS at the Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance in Beverly Hills, California in June. Based on the BMW M6 platform. Well Fisker has already updated the Latigo CS for another round of 150 units. The new Fisker Latigo CS is now shorter with minimal design changes to the front and rear. The back gets thinner tail lamps while the font lights get a little slimmer with aggresively styled air intakes. Based on the BMW M6 platform, the 2007 Fisker Latigo CS V10 is powered by a 4.8 liter engine that produces 648 horsepower, giving it the ability to do 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds. Fisker also makes a V8 version of the car, based on the BMW 650Ci, that is capable of delivering 367 horsepower. Fisker Latigo CS Gallery:
