  1. 2010 will be a pretty busy year for Bayerische Motoren Werke. On the way is the 2010 BMW 5-Series GT which should enter production this fall with sales to start in the earlier half of 2010. The production version is expected to be offered with a choice of a 272-hp naturally aspirated engine and an updated 326-hp 3.0L twin-turbo 6-cylinder in the U.S. Also hitting the markets early next year will be the 2010 BMW X1. The compact SUV was recently spotted at photo shoot for the production model. The BMW X1 will go into production later this year at company’s Leipzig plant in Germany. Following those two models, BMW will introduce the much-anticipated 7-Series Hybrid and the X6 Hybrid crossover. The BMW X6 Hybrid will feature a two-mode hybrid system that was developed from a partnership with Chrysler, Daimler and GM. It will be mated the xDrive50i’s 4.4L V8 and will offer 20 percent better gas mileage than its gasoline counterpart. The BMW 7-Series Hybrid will be a mild hybrid system and will carry fuel-saving technologies like a start/stop system. It will have a transmission-mounted electric motor mated to the 750i’s 4.4L turbocharged V8. We’ll keep you updated as all the models mentioned above make their market debuts.
  2. BMW Group is considering a rival to the Volkswagen Golf GTI based on the upcoming Mini Crossover platform due to hit the market next year. The model has yet to be green-lighted but insiders say that if approved, the car will be built alongside the Mini Crossover at the Magna Steyr factory in Austria. According to AutoCar, the Mini GTI will produce 180-hp with a John Cooper Works variant making at least 220-hp. The Mini GTI won’t appear until 2012 and it’s too early to say how the car would be priced. Insiders say that BMW is considering at least three new models based on the new 4m-long, 5-door Mini platform.   9. I forgot your M powered hah, so not so close. Seeing as I'm not even close to the front of the open class now - I don't mind saying it has 190 - 200 rwhp, which isn't bad for an M20. Would like to see 220 with new intake and new pistons. My previous best lap (at puke) was a high 1.10 on direzza race rubber. Hoping to be 1.08 with slicks and new motor (and new brakes actually). It will take me a lot of practise to get back to where I was, haven't been driving for a while.

  12. Does your sig HONESTLY say 1.9 turbo? hah I'll get some video of it on the dyno. Need to chuck on new gauges, transponder, oil cooler and it is finished. I am still in disbelieve I ripped apart a 100% reliable race car to do this
  13. I didn't read the whole post - it was long, so forgive me if I repeat something. It appears the M40/M50/M20 all share the same gearbox bolt holes. The gearboxes sit on different angles. M10/S14/M30 share another pattern. I have used a Getrag 260 from a m20b25 to the turbo m42 (318iS e30). We cut the front off the bellhousing, rotated the gearbox round to the right place. Works like a champion on a 300hp car.

  16. According to Motoringfile, is that sources close to MINI indicate the first MINI model rolling down the production line at the Oxford Plant equipped with a 2.0 liter BMW diesel engine. Don’t get your hopes up yet, the car is still in the pre-production/testing phase and the rumors of a MINI featuring BMW diesel engines have been going around since March when Autoblog reported their findings. The MINI diesel powered vehicle tested at the Oxford plant was the R55 Clubman, which apparently was paired with the third generation 2.0 liter twin-turbo diesel from the BMW 123d, an engine that outputs 204 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy on the 123d is rated at 54 MPG.

  19. Well, previous tuner who I won't mention did a horrid job of the wiring, it wasn't even earthed correctly. Would change timing randomly, occasionally have no power above 5000rpm and all sorts of strange problems. We changed virtually everything except the ECU and loom. No doubt re-wiring the link etc and re-doing it all would fix the problem. BUT at a huge cost. As Gavin can tune Motronic it was easier to work with this. I bought all the bits to do Motronic 1.3 from Ray (HELL BM) and then we tuned that. It worked perfectly. In case anyone is wondering, it lost no power adding an AFM back into the system. Motor still has its issues and probably some damage from when it was running the link. But it makes wicked power for an M20. The Ireland engineering pistons are a joke and the mods we had to make to get them to work probably make the combustion chamber a funny shape. New pistons and a new intake system will realise the most power out of the setup. The current manifold starts generating vacuum at 5000rpm plus, so is a bit restrictive. I will race it this season like this then rebuild the motor next year. I would never recommend the Ireland kit to anyone - it is sh*t.
