  1. Don't get anything below the 528i. E39s are heavier cars than the E46 hence why engine size matters. 520i, 523i are highly unpopular due to lower power to weight ratio. The best choice between economy and performance is the 530i Motorsport. Personally 540i would be my choice (no money for M5). ***GENERAL THOUGHTS FOR ALL E39*** - Reliability for my e39 seems to be so far so good. - Easily carries 5 adults. - Timeless styling - Economy & performance is pretty evenly distributed. Although at times when I want to drive hard, I regret buying a 528i over a 540i thinking I could save more petrol.
  2. Once that happened to me and it was because the brake sensor dropped out. But if that happened your car should not be moving past 2nd gear. Try d/c the battery for 2 minutes and reconnect. Turn engine on (if light still on take it for a wee drive) Turn off engine, leave it overnight. As above it worked after I had replaced the brake sensors and ASC light was still on. Next morning I switched it on the engine. Light disappeared. Funny that.
  3. C32 AMG. Should be 2002 - 2004? Maybe you have the C36 or C43.
  4. But you see the car in that video looks at least better and has the balls to go with it. This however is still running the 1.8l
  5. Sorry for a stupid reply but, Did you press the ASC button to see if you can turn it off?
  6. Was this the Maroon boxster with the eyelids? Saw a techart on TradeMe a while back. Very nice looking car.
  7. Has anyone actually driven one of these? Supposedly the W211's E55 AMGs little brother. I read many forums saying stock for stock faster than the E46 M3? Prices for these are quite good. Sleeper look and great stats on paper. Mixed reviews I have heard though. Some say its a blast to drive and extremely quick and some say nothing to shout about and a very normal car (exact words quoted but coming from a car dealer whos drive E63s, GTRs and other exotics. 4 doors, Rather smallish engine, forced induction, 5 seats, hand built engine for a not too high price seems a good deal to me.
  8. There are two ways to solve the problem with this car. (1) A 600kw at the wheels or (2) Take off everything and revert to original.
  9. I vote 330ci. I regret buying a smaller sized engine. Fuel consumption should be similar and in the future easier to sell. Tiptronic vs manual is completely your preference. Post up some pics of the actual cars you want to buy. -Andy
  10. My friends business partner bought a 2010 C63 AMG 2 years ago brand new from Armstrong prestige, last year he sold it and upgraded to an 2011 E63 AMG again brand new. Now he test drove the 2012 GTR and said will be changing to that soon. And for his wife, he originally bought her a Audi Q7, last year sold the Q7 and bought a E92 M3 2009. Now the M3 is gone in place of that is a 2012 ML220 BlueEfficiency brand new of course. Off topic but the C63 chat always brings this up in my head.
  11. Yes, A has a turning lane. It would be a choice of doing a u-turn or just a simple right to where B is coming out from. I would disagree that it is illegal to turn straight into lane 2. This because even further down the road there is a gap in the grassy island which a u-turn could be performed. Most people do not perform a u-turn in this "gap" is because: (1) it is not wide enough for the length of the car meaning the back of the car would poke out and this is slows down the WHOLE lane of traffic behind you as you wait for the opportunity to turn. (2) there has NEVER been a no u-turn sign set up where A is turning on my diagram. In fact even the police u-turn there.
  12. Had a look at this SL350, I love the shape but the engine is a bit underpowered for the size and weight of that car. Wife isnt keen on "double eye" shape headlights. Also most are SL's sold here are SL500 which I would say is the wiser choice.
  13. Physically impossible to turn into closer lane
  14. Hey guys, Anyone had any experience with these cars. The R171 Slk350. The year I am looking at is more specifically 2005 (2004 is first year model). Fast? Comfortable? Reliable? Pros? Cons? I think they look extremely good. Opinions guys? Thanks -Andy
  15. Everyone on my side of the road u-turn at there . One was brave enough to drive over the grassy island in the middle in his SUV where his house was on my side of the road. Even though it may seem silly, MOST of the people have the common sense to take the Giveway sign into consideration.
  16. I posted about a turning question in "Off Topic". I accidentally created two same topics. Would be great to remove the one with no replies on it. Thanks edit: Thanks, seems like it was already done!
  17. A does not have a no u-turn sign and is physically impossible to turn into the closer lane. If you are in Christchurch you would know this is just before the airport on Memorial Ave outside the golf course. I in place of driver A nearly had a crash today when I was half way through my u-turn and driver B drove out looking only to his right.
  18. Hey, how can I delete a topic? Sorry it seems very basic and I feel so noob but I just can't figure out how to delete a topic. Thanks -Andy
  19. Hi guys, I have a questions troubling me for a while, Please refer to picture, Person A needs to do a u-turn. Does A or B need to give way? B has a give way sign.
