Not negative at all. Of course I understand the benefits of a newer car. Its just there are many points that factor in for me when buying a car.

Kms a bit too high. Another 540i listed today. New listing If this is legit, and good condition I would think this is a bargain. Off to look at it sometime this week. Hope to purchase it.

Looking for a E39 540i (Preferably a 1997 or later under 160k kms) Should be mechanically sound (eg. not leaking oil, serviced, etc)

it has only been on there for 3 or 4 days I think. was suprise to see they took it off. asking buy now pirce was only $6000. It would be a great deal if it was mechanically sound. I requested it to be relisted. If not sold will be going to check it out.

Link Hey guys, as some may know I'm sellign my car. After some thought I really wanted to stay in the BMW community. The thing that made me want to change was that my car is a "bit" slow. After looking at some cars, I thought why not get a 540i. So I found this one. Anyone test driven it? Condition is ok? Seems legit? If all goes well I would swap out the headlights to the angel eyes on mine now and same with the rims. Thanks guys

Hey there Nikita, Regretfully, I'm looking into another Subaru as I have to say I love their AWD. I also found I much prefer a boosted AWD car going uphills and mountain roads more fun AND safe as I find my current car lacking just a bit of grunt (compared to my turboed forester). I would definately be still on this board and would hope to pick up a tidy E30 or E34 in the future if the price is good (=>2500). OR I would sell off the subie if I end up not liking it and buy a E39 540i. Still very keen to go to the meets to have a look and meet members although I would be the oddball.

Hey I have a E39 1996 528i with the same problem. When cold 1st to 2nd revs painfully high a a sharp jerk when switching. Usually after the first few gear changes it runs fine. Your car is a jap import right?

Certainly no slouch, but coming from second car being a Turbo AWD Subie, I can really feel the power difference between the two. And yes I would agree the power from a 525i would be adequate for everyday use. Maybe its just me seeking for more power.
