Wow! Awesome shots! Looks like an awesome day out!

The forester has shorter gearing? Full-time AWD and a turbo... Numbers from the 540i OBC I had were roughly 13km/l driving from Dunedin to Christchurch and around Christchurch I got around 6.2 - 7km/l but that is if I do have the odd take off full throttle off the lights once in a while You' d be even more surprised with the forester From experience they are generally the same if not a tab bit worse on petrol (mine is 2.0 auto as well btw).

If this is the 540i that Blue-540i posted then I'd say it is a good buy. Should be able to knock off about 1g I hope consider it has been on there for a wee while. I was looking at that too but too bad its not in Christchurch

QUBE, Its just a different feeling driving a V8 (a good one) BigPoppa, is your Forester a turbo?, I drive a Forester XT (turbo) as a DD and the my old 540i gets slightly better mileage. Turbo Subarus are awful on gas.
-
True but I would choose a 530i over the 528i. (Yes, I know the 530i is more expensive). 530i just feels more refined, very good balance of power and economy and just better in every way, its supposed to as it is what replaced the 528i.

I was thinking the same thing too. Looks pretty darn cool though although useless. I also think high 13s would be a good price... Considering E60 530i (Non m-sport) could be picked up around 15k these days.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-632860209.htm Wow, priced a bit high but awesome example. Did paddle shifters ever come as an option for the E39?!

This was the one from Turners right?? I thought it was a good deal especially with the ACs :-)

Good buy and nice car! Welcome to the forums and enjoy your time here -
Wow! Very nice! Some great photography there too!
-
Actually... Just for the lols. On a more serious note, talking from experience Steptronic feels much smoother over SMG for city driving.
-
I was actually looking at that 330ci SMG too but concluded I should steer clear. I would stay away from SMG unless you have warranty or have bucket loads of cash. Personally think SMG is an awesome concept but there are plenty of horror stories online if you just google "SMG M3 reliability" Also prefacelift E46 ftw!

Aren't we all a bit biased to 540i's

Awesome to see a new member with a later model car joining in too! Have fun around the forums. Very neat car btw!

Now that is an awesome car..

I thought auctions must be followed through? Also winning anything via auction is as is where is. Meaning if you get the rego AFTER the auction, and find out something is wrong, you have no way of getting your money back. That is unless you don't show up for the exchange

Got your eyes on that M5 huh? XD

Taking the bus to work everyday I look forward to hopping into the car every time ...When my partner isn't with me I'd take detours just for the extra few minutes driving

109000, Was listed for 1 week and sold

Buying a super awesome car at a good price = Very cool Friends asking why you don't drive the car and replying because its broken and don't have funds to fix it = Very uncool. Had this dilemma about purchasing a 2000 Maserati 3200GT with Tubi exhaust for $20k a few months back.

Being able to buy one doesn't necessary mean being able to run one

Did you point it at the little red nose?

I agree DaveO's look much much nicer with the bonus "investment" plate too. Uber jealous...
