dont know the propper name, its a real deep purple. in the sun it sets off and looks awesome, but in the dark it looks black, so i got the best of both worlds. definatly needs a repaint sometime in the future, roofs fading and the boot has the clearcoat comming off, also had a couple of drift trike accidents and put deep scratches in the right hand rear corner panel, and i line down the drivers side of the car about 15cm off the ground, but itll do for now. needs the go before the show i reakon EDIT BMW-royalblau-metalic if im reading the right tag

yea im using the one you had, but just incase anything happens, i now know i have an idential spare. anyways update time on its way out look at the size difference between the motors, remember the gearboxs are the same took it outside to clean te engine bay the new springs some damage i found on top of the steering rack, picking e36 one up off hellbm tomorrow (i know the picture isnt to good, just imagine the metal casing on a rack worn through just about completely) and just a couple more for fun

i brought ETHRTY's old set up so ive got everything there. i was just wondering about the gearbox as ive heard different things about them. it was more for curiositys sake but thanks

it worked great on my e30. cleaned so much crap out the idle rose from 700 ish revs to over 2000. also i work on subarus and use it on every service i do. just try not to breath it in, its cancerous

its factory disk, facelift 318s came disc 316s came drum and prefacelift 318s drum if i recall correctly. anyways i got the motor out today, cleaned the engine bay, found a little surface rust and put some rust protectant stuff on it, got my new springs from andrew, took a few photos but havent downloaded them yet. and im surprised no ones said anything about my car yet, with those hideous mags and being higher in the front than the back and being dirty as anything. feal free to add more on to this list as it will be things that i will consider changing/upgrading can someone correct me here if im wrong but the manual 240 box from an m40 engine is the exact one needed for a 24v swap

started the conversion tonight, got quite a bit of work done from what i was expecting to do. the engine and box will be out tomorrow afternoon, and im picking some springs up off andrew (APT) tomorrow after i finish work. so far so good, hope the rest of it goes as smoothly as it has so far. and yes pictures will be put up soon as i know you all love them

something like this would be preferred but with the rear brake drum do you know how much clearance there is? if a set of these would fit then they would be my first choice (not these excact ones, just very similar) if these dont work then ill most likely stick with the bolts, evan tho they are a PITA
-
yea thats what i mean, i just get fed up with mucking round with the bolts. new set of mags will hopefully be on the cards but thats closer to the bottom of the pile, engine brakes and suspension are much more important than the looks in my books

has anyone converted their bmw to having studs and nuts instead of having bolts. i really do hate the bolts and want to fit some studs (hope fully some pull through ones) but want to know if anyones done it before and where to get them from? and would anyone know if any subaru would have the same stud thickness as an e30, dont really mind the thread pitch as ill be getting the nuts to suit what ever studs i get thanks

what everyones opinion on getting bc golds for my e30? it will be going to the track but it is more of a street car at this stage. im needing something to hold the extra weight of a 6 cyl as im replacing the m40 and just wondering if anyone would say wait before i get the cert and get them or just go with out for quite a few years. i want the car low and i want it to handle, but it would be another month or so of waiting till id be able to get them. will they be worth the extra money and wait or should i just get simple springs and be happy with that for now???
-
yea, im hoping to just cruze with the car initially, but it will still have more pull than the knackered m40 im pulling of of it. and changing ratios wont be to hard when i finally get to it. anyone had their diff tighted up a little bit before? ive been recommened "Diff and axle repair" (think thats what their called) and told he just plays with it a little and removes some factory set restrictions. im taking it in to them tomorrow to see what he says but just wanted some thoughts from others

does anyone know weather the medium case lsd will be a direct bolt in to replace my standard small case diff? i just had a look at a housing from a small case and it seems so much thinner. not sure if it was just because it was only the housing without the output shaftson the small case or if it actually is ALOT thinner. and also the time is just about here, should be starting the install this weekend . going to be fun sorting through all the old m40 electrics, shouldnt be to bad tho

thought id finally get some pictures of the car up and the diff i got for it today. it a 3.25 (i think) medium case lsd still looking for a set of 6 cylinder low springs, dont mind if they arnt to good they will only be a temporary thing. its got some king springs in it at the moment but the rears are super lows the front are only lows and are made for a 4 cylinder so need something made for the extra weight. if i cant find springs then i cant start the conversion, and if it takes to long to find some to suit then i might just get the coilovers i want straight away
-
ill give them a go at figuring them out, yea it does have the o2 sensors in the exhaust so ill see if they plug up. all these thing i should be able to get sorted, just the fact that i would like the conversion to go as smoothly as possible and get the car in and out asap. is there anyone in the auckland area that would be the best to talk to? and thanks for all this information so far, wasnt expecting it all quite so fast

thought it would be about time i started a build thread for my e30. my m52b28 got dropped of today and i already have alot of questions building up to do with the wiring, so ive taken pictures of several plugs that i need to figure out there is one plug in the above photo, a sensor, a random wire and a ground. this photo has a plug in the rocker cover / vanos area. nothing looks like they go to it and apparently vanos has been removed but i cant confirm that heres another plug behind the starter motor, with yet another un-used ground im guessing these 2 are for the Ho2 sensors, not sure why they were left unplugged here is one vaccum fitting and one hose that i want to check up on no idea what goes onto the camcase ventilator, and also unsure if that is the vanos unit and if it will still be used a unknowen plug close to the MAF plug, and also a random wire sticking out from a harness and last but not least, 2 plugs close some relays and the ecu connector. any help with this will be great as electrical things are not quite my thing, and as some of these may not be from the factory are a little confusing.

i never brought them, they came with the first e30 i brought so dont know if they are the same ones or not. but they are awesome mine have a dimmer and 2 different shades of blue to select. only bad thing is one of the wires has pulled out of the circuit board in he controller so i now on get 1 color choice. they look great though have removed them and reinstalled in every dash ive replaced and being an e30 ive done that alot

rx7 calipers and vw rotors on an e30?
slowe30 replied to slowe30's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
ill need the cert for the engine and aparently i have to upgrade my brakes if i get more that 20% factory power to get the cert anyway. i figured if i can do the full upgrade for around 500 then it will be good enough have you done this? im just asking to see if it is actually a good upgrade or not really worth it. -
was just wondering if anyone had put rx7 fc 4 pots and vw rotors (forgot which ones) onto their e30. im about to be putting a m52 in there and wanted a little more stopping power than what i have. theres a kit for it online somewhere with the bracket and line adaptors for 100 american would you recommend this or is there a simpler cheaper big brake setup?
-
hi, interested in the conversion kit. do you have an lsd with a decent ratio to suit the engine/gearbox? any idea on how many ks the engine has? and shipping to auckland? thanks heaps

its a e30 318i 1989 got a m40 in it all ways had idle issues nothing to much to worry about though have put in a tested afm and idle control valve improved but still has "lumpy cams" as i like to say also has never liked high revs this is really annoying me, not the fact that im trying to use them the whole time just cus ive tried to fix it with several things and its just bugging me now ive replaced plugs, coil, computer, de-cat(improved a little but still bad) fuel filter, cleaned out the intake (must have been dirty cus it started idling at 2k till i adjusted it down), air filter. few other things aswell but cant remember them at the moment it also takes quite a while to start after its sat for a while dont know it this will have anything to do with it tho its as if its bogging down, after about 5k revs it just bogs out, if i change gear just after its done it it bogs in the next gear for a few seconds aswell any help will be greatly apreciated thanks
