Ever play GT4? The load times were longer for races, and the same length as getting into the garage/changing cars/changing car settings. Those were paaaaainful. GT5 is bliss (just changed into a differrent car in under 10 seconds) compared to say MGS4. www.gtplanet.com has many many people who have done 24 hour races, alone or with friends. I myself did the Nurb 24hr in GT4 over 3 days, was a rollercoaster of emotion.

Probably because I left my car in your lock-up! If you need another project can you finish my push button starter? Cause I wired it to the main power line which runs to the ignition, so you can crank the starter when the key isn't even in the car. Ran out of time to resolve that MIGHTY f**k up today.

Yes that's me a billion meters in the air after getting spun out by the crap AI for the tenth time.

Exactly 2 years ago I had my first full proper track day session and spent around 3 laps following some old datsun thing with a CA18DET in it, stock boost, FMIC, like this e30. It pulled 1-2 car lengths on the straight at Ruapuna. So it was kind of even, but that annoying pace difference which is hard to overtake without a big car-smashing-together brake-dive (but with an old slow-cornering datto; painful to follow in the corners) Whereas an SR20DET on stock boost pulls 8-10 lengths, comparatively. CA's + box are 10-15kgs lighter than the SR package, which is 20-25ish kg lighter than a full m20 package. Tickle the boost/injectors/fuelpump on this car and you would have as much fun as what could be possible to have in an E30, really really. As it is now, about 30% more fun than a 325i. GLWS!

Thanks lads. Looks like I don't have to bust out the line I said I was going to bust out. Bust, ooowwwuut. I will say, re: "tweak em (in rebound)", that shock movement is highly dynamic, fast compressions (hitting potholes/large bumps at high speed), slow compressions (landing jumps, weight transfer), and fast compression frequency (braking bumps/rumble strips). Proper shock manufacturers and shops that set up shocks have a nifty wee thing called a shock dyno. It maps out the resistance the shock is making across it's range at all different speeds, and can run them until fade occurs (fade is bad, cheap shocks will fade very fast on a NZ road). You can have the shock have a rising rate (most are this naturally), or linear rate. Even have 2 or 3 separate levels of resistance depending on compression speed and/or shock position. Turning a 30 clicker knob doesn't change the fundamentals of how the shock moves, it just shifts the graph up or down the compression resistance axes. I used to do quite a bit of suspension tuning; on a mountain bike haha. The old Marzocchi Shivers were horrendous for fade, but my word they were nice forks. Last bike had 4 way adjustment on the rear shock (High and Low speed compression, rebound, and platform breakaway point), forks were just bound and rebound (I got those custom valved for free too, mmm sponsors) and how you set that up defines whether you win races or not. yackiddy yack.

The important part of the kit is the Koni yellow bits that dampen the up/down movement, oh yeah they are called shocks. They are made in the Netherlands if I recall correctly The rebound adjustment makes all the difference you nunce. (Also this is where I realised you don't have any idea about how suspension does it thing. but this isn't the thread for analysing complicated stuff like that) 60mm of adjustment on the GC kit is not much smaller than the 80mm or so these BC golds do. And you're going to have to use it too. Konis are rebuildable. You are not a race car driver. You couldn't tell the difference between KYB's and AST's, Factory Bilstiens to Motons, and ZXR250 forks with stock internals to ones with Ohlins racing gear, I bet. I also have many 'mates' who 'professionally' build 'drift cars' and they all use Tien, sure BC gold is used quite often in the 'drift' scene, but you'll only find them on the drift hacks, not the winning cars. The GC kit has a reputable shock and spring supplier/manufacturer, and things like: proper 'aircraft grade' bearings, low stack height camber/caster plates, low numbers run of parts to ensure quality control, updated designs almost yearly as feedback comes in from customers, the ability to use the stock struts at the front instead of some grainy 'steel' painted a nice black/gold to look quality, a phone where they actually build the kit which you ring them on and ask for advice to do with your setup because they are experienced mo-fos. What is a BC Gold distributor going to know about them? Except 'ohhh umm you turn the clickly wheel 24 clicks left at the front and 17 at the back, should be mint'. To say that BC golds are equal to Koni/eibach is to denounce multiple race series' all around the world that use either/both of those brands. (just quietly, I don't think Koni is bribing people to use their stuff oh look a patonising winky face) *massive fake orgasm sound* There's that patronising winky face again ^, oh how does it go? Oh yes (lmfao) (in brackets of course) You really do get what you pay for, and to get custom valved koni shocks. If you want something that you can wind up and down with a nice stiff ride for cruising around in; go BC Gold. (I must have adjusted the height in my car maybe twice in the past 12 months by the way, and I'm a fiddler. Height adjustment is a gimmick) But if you want something that you can attack a targa stage/summit rd/track day without your suspension breaking off if you go off track (as you said^) or the shocks overheating and fading, then using a company that has these things in mind is your best bet. Here's what's going to happen: you'll reply with more jibber jabber, nathan will commend me for this post, someone with real experience will comment, and I'll have to bust out the 'I'm setting up a R34 Targa winning car's suspension, communicating with the driver and adjusting some amazing 10k shocks to suit his preferences' line.

Buy some H&R springs from here and some Koni shocks that the race series guys use. Best thing to do if you are a noob. BC Golds... Looks like they are about 1800 or so judging by a quick search. Ground control. Koni shocks, Konis, real sh*t, valved to match any spring rate you choose, using Eibach springs. Currently 1950 NZD plus shipping (about 200) for a much, much better product. Then GST. If you are going to go to coilovers, why not do it properly with proper 'race' style brands? For about half a grands difference.. And GC isn't made in Taiwan. Personally that's a huge issue for me while bottoming out with a full g load. Konis are proven shocks. BC golds are not. Who knows what they put in them?? (Rhetorical) GC is a true mid-range kit. It's the real bang for buck at under 2.5k.

Hmm so I'm at level 36 A-spec and level 28 B-Spec. This game is fantashtich. A few random pics! I haven't been in photo mode that much, but it sure it detailed.. Racing online with one of my best friends, who lives in sydney, with a PS3 bluetooth headset is the duck's nuts. Like skype, but with drifting: Yeah I'm in the S15 RM... We rock out the hachirokus too. Made a sweet trade for an X1 at Level 28, traded a Mitsi I-concept (13k worth of car, rare though). It flies: And rolls: It's impossible to do Suzuka in the Vettel challenge to get my own X1 while using a controller, not worth the frustration to me. So a wheel will come soon.. 2nd car I bought, way too fun ^ The detail in the premium cars is insane. I've zoomed in on writing like 'made in germany' on the inside of the taillights. Here is a chromed R8. If anyone wants to trade for chrome paints/X1's (I have a few)/anything or join some online racing send a friend request: Incary.

Haha yeah you can see the trailing arm bushing mount thing in one of the photos there, indicating which way is actually forward. Did you ever swap the calipers around sweetm3?
