You're welcome.

Trouble is, the car got killed... Not the careless driver.
-
Mmmmm indeed... One of my all time favourite cars.
-
"...though the older model appears to be available for just $320,000." - JUST!!
-
The before looks better IMO but a good effort nevertheless.
-
Before and after pics?

It's been on there for a while but if Ray says it's good then go for it. The other one with the beige interior was on TM about a year ago, I think. Sat for a while on TM at around the $10K mark before it sold. Seems the latest owner didn't keep it for that long. Perhaps some 'hidden costs'.

Had a good day at Hampton today. Took a few pics... Few more here - http://www.flickr.com/photos/97854197@N07/sets/72157636748544474/

TBH they don't stick out much further than the stock M-tech bumper and are probably less than an inch lower so should be fine.

I showed that pic (with no rear muffler) to Jason at Woolf Mufflers and he just laughed. Said it would be terrible. I'm pretty confident in Mike's suggestions as he's done a lot of experimenting on his V8 E36 and having de-catted an E39 528i I know the droning pitfalls of losing the middle resonator/muffler. I like the fact I can build this exhaust in pieces too, as resources become available. Finally decided to fit the splitters. Fair bit of sanding to get a really good fit and then sealed round the edge with a bit of black sikaflex. Very happy with them: About to put on some new front undercarriage covers... If the rain stops for long enough.

Got anything that would suit lying around, Brent?

Like I said... Email your resume to Ivan Reitman at Paramount pictures and mark it "Ghostbuster III casting"!
-
Not after he said they're looking for twenty-somethings... Rules me out by quite a few years, sadly.
-
Email Ivan Reitman at Paramount pictures with your suggestion. He did mention that they are casting 'new faces' so if anyone aged in their early 20s is looking for a breakthrough role in Ghostbusters 3 to email Ivan.
-
He did mention they are in talks for a new Ghostbusters film, though Bill Murray has sad he won't be involved.
-
... Seriously. And he was wearing his Blues Brothers sunnies. Quite a character but a bit mental!!
-
I did wonder that. The custom higher ratio diffs for the 540i are muchos $$$$s!!
-
I'm quite interested in this. Mine also has the 3.15 ratio diff. If I swapped for 3.64 I'd presumably be able to take more advantage of the powerful torque in the M62 and increasd acceleration but lose some top end speed. What other advantages of changing are there and are there and are there other ratios available (was thinking slightly taller e.g. 3.46)? Anyone got a higher ratio LSD for an E39? EDIT: I'm guessing an LSD for these is pretty expensive... had a look online and new ones seem to be $1500-2000+, does that sound right?

Give me the keys, Mike

Don't mess around, Graham, do it like the pros do...
-
Has it been sold or is it still in the care of BMW NZ?
-
Why not go the whole hog and replace the entire system with pipes and stick a couple of twin tips at the back... Then I can pretend it's an M5 like yours, even though it will sound like a tractor. Will definitely remap but can't afford to remap after each mod so might have to live with a bit of down power until I can finish a couple of other intended mods. Either that or I need to find some good free maps somewhere and learn how to flash them myself.

The wife loves Amercian muscle cars - the more I get it to sound like a V8 the less she hates it! haha Mike had a good solution as well - RS4 valve at the muffler to close off one pipe - 'family mode'.
-
Fair enough. In which case I'd use Mike's methodology and I can bring over some Meguiar's for any tough spots. If you use it sparingly I don't think you'll need to worry about the smell.
