Nope not my old one. But yep was an individual and had “Press release car” on the options list.

Here’s the link to what the owners are looking for in new ownership and leadership. So if there’s people or a person who thinks they can handle it... Talk to the owners.

There's a bunch of us that want to make the site administration better, if you're all for that then perhaps live up to your title and contribute something helpful. If, on the other hand, you're satisfied with the status quo then fly that flag but stay out of the discussion, your puerile comments don't help improve the situation, nor do they enhance the conversation (or your reputation for that matter).
Edit: o/t but it's interesting that the emoticon changed in the quote, conflicting unicode?
It is actually about ownership and leadership, Karen.
The owners of Bimmersport are looking for someone to take over - That includes administration, hosting etc etc. the whole shebang. It is no skin off of my nose if i’m a good admin or not. This is a free to its members forum forf**k sakes. How about appreciating for a change that a lot of hard work has gone in to keeping this forum running over the years.
So If you’re up for that challenge then reach out to the owners. But to me it sounds like you just want to pick and choose where to add “value” Dave which is not the main issue here.

I'm not sure if you hosting the site for free so you can "try things out on something production like" is good value though, that actually sounds like a disaster waiting to happen! It seems that a consequence of that "free" arrangement is that the site is a slave to your availability and that doesn't appear to be a reliable operating model, regardless of your best intentions.
Your last sentence highlights the benefits of using a hosted solution, we wouldn't be negatively impacted every time things change, and you wouldn't have to keep up with changes which seems difficult because of your other commitments.
I suspect there are enough potential sponsors and donors here to make hosting the site "free" for Ollie anyway, and with the benefit of more effective maintenance and production support. If you share the non-functionals with us we can work out the most cost-effective operating model. I think you need to be open to the possibility of either more technical assistance or a different hosting arrangement because there's clearly a bottleneck that needs addressing with the current model. Hopefully your PM discussion with Graham will surface some of those opportunities.
As I've said to Graham, yourself in the past, and other interested parties, there are many willing and able to help and many with $ to contribute. But nobody will likely invest in the current admin situation, it's broken.
Make an offer to buy it, appoint your own admins then everyones happy.

Some good insights here on owning/maintaining and restoring an e39 touring.

Bump now on TM.
Reserve is not far off the start price, which is basically what I paid to get the TC rebuilt.

Shityres as well as old should be banned or just for “competition use”
See it alot on High performance cars “New tyres” in the forsale ad seems to hold as much value as “timing chain no cambelt”. Or cambelt changed but not the wp, idlers, etc ?♂️?♂️

Yeah it’s ridiculous.

Sls although quite common was an option in tourings. Op i think means to say he has conventional coil springs in the rear.

lol. At those kms probably needs a fair bit more done in the suspension dept. I was tempted for a split second!

Definitely sound like the halogen kind unfortunately. Strange that someone would swap out for worse headlights unless it's had a bump and insurance cheaped out ?

Genuine bmw part. ABS plastic
All damage has been repaired with epoxy resin. Bumper is strong, straight and would just need prep n painting.Comes with lower grid (have msport style also i’ll throw in), fog lights and trims. One of the fog lights lenses tends to fog up (funny that) but are both genuine bmw items and not the cruddy AliExpress ones.
Looking for $300 pickup west Akl.

As I'd still need to clean and condition a used seat from a wrecker or pick-a-part, in addition to my time spent gathering tools and driving to and from pick-a-part (or a wrecker) to un-bolt and pay for a seat base. And then I'd need to remove the scuffed one from my car, clean years of accumulated crap from beneath it, and install the one from pick-a-part (or a wrecker).
In my world it makes way more sense to do less work and wipe on some leather toner with a sponge and save myself time, effort, and "probably" money.
And as you rightly point out, I'll have the gear on the shelf that allows me to take care of things like leather steering wheels in a way that I can't with a surplus scuffed leather seat base.
Of course, your mileage may vary.
To do a proper long lasting repair (that is questionable in this case due to the location of the seat damage and high traffic it sees) you'd need to strip off the leathers urethane coating, prep/sand the area, sponge on the paint, followed by air brushing it in for even coverage, then air brush a protective urethane coating over it. It will look really obvious unless you get the colour match spot on factoring in for UV fading.
You need no tools to remove a seat base, they're clipped in. You pull up on both sides and wiggle it out. A good used one wouldn't be more than $100. Pick a part is luck of the draw but I have seen tidy ones there when I was restoring my e39 touring. -
Any more details around the oxy sensor errors from your scanner ? post cat or pre cat oxygen sensors ? There's 4 in total. Can you post up the errors, and also does your scanner show the additive and multiplicative fuel trims ? These maybe represented by long term and short term fuel trims.
Try unplugging the mafs, go for a drive and see if you're getting the same behaviour. Mafs are a common issue on the s62.
Coils are usually rock solid, mine are all original, and haven't heard of any one in the nz group of owners having to replace them.

Sure, used e39 parts are quite cheap now. If it were a different colour or had individual spec stitching or some other rare characteristics then definitely a touch up on the damage.

Ah yeah true it’s a good project. I’d probably get a colour match off of a surrounding area as if you go off a paint code or using the excess leather underneath the seat base it might not match due to uv fading.
Yeah the febi ones have thicker plastic and are definitely up to holding maccas cups. Just put the cup in nicely and you’ll be fine.- 1

8 hours ago, lemusa said:Thanks man! Are you familliar with what colour matches the E39 leather? Maybe F029 or F038?
Probably easier to just find a good used seat base then go through the hassle of repairing.
I recommend the febi branded cupholders. As long as you’re not a gorilla they stand up to the test of time. Have had one in my M5 for over 5 years. You can get them off ebay, just check the brand and search “e39 rhd cupholder”

I think IAT and KTMP have an influence on spark ignition timing.
If the engine feels sluggish after crawling traffic or on hot summer days it's probably a good thing (so long as it feels better with cooler air, and there are no other engine faults) The dme is protecting the engine from likely damage as a result of pinging.
You really want a dyno when playing around with this kind of thing imo.
