Hi, I'm looking at doing my gearbox and diff oil on my 330ci zf 5 speed. I'm wanting to know what oils you've had experience with, whats good and whats not? I've had a quick peek at supercheap auto's, they have a pretty poor selection. I'm going to have a look at BNT tomorrow and see what they have there. Would love to hear from your experience! Hi, I was wondering if anyones experienced the air cond (interior HVAC system) not turning off? I just came home with the air con running, but even after turning the car off and removing the keys, its still running and I can't really turn it off! Would anyone have any ideas on whats wrong with it and how to fix it? For now, I've removed the battery... Many Thanks! Andrew

I was quoted a ridiculous $530 for the remote key (NZ New E46), and the dealer said they have no mark up on this item... I hope you have better luck than me!

Hi Clinton, I've got one from an 2002 M3. I was planning to install it in my car, but have kinda lost motivation due to difficulties obtaining the correct harness to make everything work. Hi there, I would suggest getting the correct touch up paint from the dealer and just doing a touch-up. Given that the stone chips are small and that you use with the correct method, the repair is almost seamless. The correct method of touching up will involve a bit of sanding, hence the surface is smooth. I'd imagine a respray would be un-economical given the age of your car. Cheers, Andrew

I will second Loctite 401 for plastic on metals. This stuff is ridiculously strong, but its got a low viscosity and usually ends up everywhere. It blooms on plastic also.

If I remember correctly, the motion sensor could be disabled by first hitting the "unlock" button, and then locking. So if you've accidentally done that, then it may not go off. Cheers, Andrew

Hi there, I asked myself the same question not long ago. AFAIK, if your car has the flashing clown nose, it should have the alarm. Whether it has a tilt sensor installed is another story. There should be a vent looking thing on the ceiling of your car - thats your ultrasonic motion sensor, and that only activates after 30 seconds after the alarm is armed. To test whether it works, just sit inside your car and start waving your arms after 30 secs or so. Do you have the original 3 button keys?

Cheers Dean, I'll definitely look further into the TV antenna thing. I've been asking the dealers for the loom, but they've kinda ignored my emails - I'm guessing these are not a very popular item. Works been a bit too busy to allow me to call them during the day, but now it looks unlikely that I'll be getting the loom before xmas ;(

I've realised how big this job is turning out to be so I've decided to hold off the installation til xmas - but its getting closer now so its time to get serious again I'm not sure if I've mentioned, but I've also got the full Harman Kardon system waiting to be installed as well and I was hoping I could do this all in one go. The bits which I'm still missing are the "new gen" antenna booster, tv bumper antenna and the loom. Instead of getting the retrofit loom, I'm planning on getting the standard loom as my current one doesn't have separate wires and connectors going to the tweeters. Does anyone know whether it'd be difficult to get the speaker cables going into the doors? (Thankfully I've only got 2) Also, to get the TV working I'll need the bumper antenna, and from what I've read, the bumper needs to come off which means its beyond my DIY capabilities. Does anyone know of an alternative method? Cheers, Andrew

However, he'd just answered my original question, "Please read all info... on the listing" after editing his listing... thats about as low as it gets. Haha this definitely lightened up my day, cheers Glenn and the rest of the boys. As far as I know, the TV and Radio should work once its been reprogrammed, but SatNav wouldn't unless you replace the SatNav computer - and that thing aint cheap! Anyway, it is a nice car though!

Na, hes just made a link to his listing, absolutely no problems there. Its the seller I'm pee'd off with.

The seller of this listing (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=258216850) claims that the Jap SatNav System will work once you apply the correct CD. But I pretty much know for a fact that it wouldn't work unless you change the SatNav computer. So I left him a question to let him know: Hi there, are you aware that the Japanese sat nav computer is completely different to the rest of the world? Unless you have changed the sat nav computer to one compatible with NZ, it would not work even if you have the correct CD. I don't mean to be rude or imply that you're lying but just wanted to make sure. Then he blacklists me and retaliates on my listings saying : "Hurry Curry be careful who you call a lire I fully explain all details with all cars the trademe advert is a guide only, information is provided via CIN cards and at the yard looking at what you are selling this car is out of you reach any how so please don''t post false Actuations" He's now edited and added to his listing to say "Nav system will work in NZ with CD and configuration of the system.. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-258271960.htm ". I'm just feeling a bit disgruntled that the seller would be so rude over this matter. What do you guys think?

I see, thanks for the info. Am I correct in saying that the ZF is the better transmission? How do I know which comes with ZF and which don't? Should I try and look for a model that is later than 2002? thanks!

My bros 330CI is a manual, but I'm looking for an automatic as I'm going to be stuck in traffic quite often And cheers for the info Glenn, I'll definitely get you to have a look at it if I decide to buy one!
