doing 200kmh+ on two wheels and GETTING A ******* WHEEL GOING
-
Well I was hoping to have the m20 out tonight, but my plans for getting an engine hoist turned pear shaped. Not to worry, worst case scenario ill just get the engine ready to pull on the weekend, hire a hoist over the weekend to pull out the m20 and drop the mighty m50 in straight after. Thinking I might just have to hire a welder as well, not as expensive as I thought, so I plan to hire one on monday to make up my exhaust to fit. Will take some photos of all the other parts needed sometime, but too lazy tonight.

I'm sure the 10 ten "attempted to be stolen cars" would be a lot different.

Box of beer $28 max, hiring engine hoist, $70 for a weekend. You gotta use ya head ya know!! lol.

I dont bother argueing with people over this stuff. Believers in this tripe have watched too many DVDs they take as doctrine and dont want common sense and physics to get in the way of a good story!

I have had this problem. Esspecially for the last term I've been slack as hell at uni, spending all my free time on my car and then doing my assignments in the last minute. This has been made easy because I live 5 minutes walk from class, so I had no temptation to sit in the library.. Decided to change this term, spending most of my day in the library doing assignments, I have 5 at the moment and they are all due in the next 6 weeks or so. I plan to spend just short evenings and weekends on my car.. I think it's a good balance, hopefully it works.

What is that supposed to mean?

Heh yea, I think she's gonna smoke like crazy for a while but that's fine lol.

What brake booster set up are you running? I'm running a vacuum type booster off a 7 series with a e36 master cylinder. I still have to sort what I'm going to do resivour wise, I need to find some plastic elbow joints of some sort that will make it so i can run lines up to the resivour which I am going to be placing somewhere else.. I'm guessing on the old relay bracket. Doesn't look like I'll have to modify any of my brake lines due to the car having ABS in it ( which doesnt work hehe ) My plan is to just get it running for now, then slowly get it up to certification standard.. and hoon around in it before i lose my licence =P

Maybe you should find a different job

Beer is the only currency I use when it comes to car parts and labour. What's up with this money rubbish anyway?! By the way, welcome Cyrus.

Scooters are f***ing dangerous, I learnt that the hard way. Stay away from those death traps and get a R1 so you can get out of trouble quicker.

Well, as everyone else is selling their cars I soldier on lol. Picked up my engine and all the other parts I need for the conversion today. Will post pics shortly. Plan to remove my m20b25 tomorrow night.

Anyone got a welder and/or engine hoist I can borrow?
mark247 replied to mark247's topic in General Discussion
If I have to hire them I will, I'm a poor Uni student so I go for the cheapest option.... -
I got a blank chip from Jaycar for $7 ( or something like that ) and just downloaded a .bin ( the files they have stored on the chip ) off and net and got a shop to burn it on for me. Cheapest upgrade I have ever done, made a bit of a difference. Was worth the $27 or whatever it cost me all up! Charles, cool projects. An auto 2.7 will certainly be unique. Good stuff.

Stink!! Good luck with the sale. Random question, what brake booster are you running?

I'm planning on dropping a m50 in my e30 this weekend. I have got all the welding done I need done other than getting my e30 exhaust to fit the manifolds. Does anyone have a welder ( preferably a tig ) that I would be able to borrow this weekend? Just let me know what beer you like... Also, although I may have an engine hoist already sorted, that may fall through, so was wondering if anyone had an engine hoist also I would be able to borrow? Last time I did a swap I hired one from HirePool and it was useless, barely went high enough to pull the m50 out of an e36 with the front end of the e36 off, so pulling an engine out of a e30 will be next to impossible!! Payment with beers also.. Help would be greatly appreciated.. I'm in Hamilton but picking up from Tauranga or Auckland could still be worth it. Thanks in advance. Mark

If his engine mounts were broken it would be pretty obvious wouldn't it? I've driven a car with broken engine mounts ( had no bonnit ) and it looked like the engine was about to bounce out of the engine bay..

I know a few guys with streetfighter motorcycles with LED's under their fuel tank pointing at their engine. Looks totally sick at night time if you ask me. Call it rice if you want.

Quick question. I realise cutting the rear is dangerous due to how the coils get smaller at the top and bottom and because with a slight bump the springs could just fall out. But what about the fronts? Cutting half a coil off or so just to get a bit of drop, not using heat to do it, and assuming the springs are still entirely captive, what harm could it do? I realise it is by no means going to make the car handle any better, but what negitive effects could it have?

I understand. I'm just saying for WOF checks the 100mm isn't measured off the sump. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong
