I think they measure the 100mm off the lowest structual part of the car, the sump isn't structual. My car is too low, its about 90mm on the chassis. With the 14inch weaves though it doesn't seem that low so I dont think they will pick up on it if they dont have trouble getting it on a hoist when I go for a warrent. I hardly ever bottom out on anything either because the suspension is rather stiff.

If you put a bigger engine in your front end will drop anyway due to the weight, if you have springs for a 318. Look at my sig, my car is on the right, it has a 6cylinder in it and it has shortened munroe shocks with what I think are 318i james springs in the front. Compare it to SIR E30's car on the left, it's low...
-
Shortening shocks wont lower it, but it does make it so you can put lower springs in and they stay captive.

Turns out it was a fuse. I didn't really expect that considering the windows still worked when the doors were open. I'm steuupid!
-
Sounds like an idea. But wouldn't that cause the window switch lights to be on constantly?
-
My e30s windows randomly started only working when a door is open. When both doors are closed neither of the windows open and also neither of the window switches light up, as soon as i open one of the doors the windows start to work and the switches light up. I read that it could be some relay or something, but if it is then the fan wont work either, but my fan still works... My central locking doesn't work either, but that hasn't worked for a while now and my windows only stopped working last night. Anyone got any ideas on what it could be? Cheers guys!

Thought I'd put up a bit of a write up about my M50 E30 project. At this point I haven't started stripping the old m20b25 out, but I have started collecting parts. Kerry and Troy ( the beloved 320guy ) have been giving me a huge hand. Both of them have M50 e30s so they know their sh*t. Kerry ( you da man ) has supplied a lot of the parts and given me some ideas from his own twin cam e30. I have a non-vanos M50b25 lined up and plan to pick it up next week. So far I have picked up these parts. Pic One - Modified E30 gearbox cross member so it fits on the 15 degree angle that is caused by the M50 engine. Modified this today. Still needs cleaning up and painting but it's basically done. Should do the trick. Pic Two - M52 oil pick up out of a 728i. E34 ones work as well. I got this for free off my mate along with an M52 728i sump which will fit. I need to change this over because the engine I'm putting in is out of a e36 which has the rear sump. Pics Three and Four - My m52 728i sump I got for free. This is the brake booster and master cylinder I need. They are the vacuum type set up out of a 7 series. The resivour is going to need to be remotely placed because it is not going to fit where it is now because it will be in the way of the throttle body. I plan on placing it where the relays are now, Troy did this and it looks tidy as. I am still trying to find a resivour to use, i know what type would fit, it's just a matter of finding one. Here are the premodified m52 exhaust manifolds I'm going to use. Previous owner painted them, but im 99% sure it will burn off as soon as i start it up. Never mind =P Modifying the exhaust to fit will do be the last thing I do and I will sort that once I get to it. I have the front half of an e36 exhaust to play around with to make it fit so shouldn't be a problem. Just need to find someone handy with a welder who is keen on a box of beers.. Other parts I have organised already but no photos of are - E34 throttle cable - E34 M50 rubber engine mounts - E36 engine mounts More progress will be posted when I make some... I'm not replacing the clutch considering the one behind the M20 I have now has done less than 2000km.

It comes up as M14X1,5-05 ZNS3 on RealOEM. I'd say you could get one from BayEngineers or simular..

Chur. At the end of the day I realise "rice" is a pretty subjective word. But I dont see how it is "pointless" when the car is for such a specific purpose. Yea for sure. The engine would be cool in a motorcycle
-
I dont think 330kw is pointless, it's ridiculous in that Civic though but who cares? The guy wanted 330kw, so he got it, that's enough of a reason for him to do it if you ask me. Maybe you should email him and tell him to turn his boost down.
-
Aerodynamics? That is rather rich coming from a e30 owner Well of course the engine would be better off in a track car, a track car is going to handle better. Man I may as well do nothing to my car performance wises at all if I go off that mentality. It's a "show car," they are going for an absolutely different thing than what you want. Rice for me is big gauges on a bog standard 1.6 sewing machine with chromies. Just a note, I dont usually defend "show cars" and all that, but i just feel there is a point that is being missed here
-
I'm no Honda fan but that is impressive by all means. A definition of rice which I like is "Any Japanese import car that has been modified for no real performance gain." 330kw for me is a performance gain, may not be a BMW but who gives a damn, that thing would hall ass. It doesn't have heaps of wanky gauges or anything, and it is kinda tastefully done.

I didn't actually post that. My mate, 320guy who is now banned from here, did. I left my bimmersport account signed in on his computer hahaha. Im not that helpful haha

I've actually got nothing against purple as long as it doesn't look like sh*t. My e36 was Barney Purple pretty much, well, not Barney purple, but purple all the same.

I read an article in a Performance BMW mag about a guy with a 320i Touring race car. Was certainly unique. Very cool!
