It will most likely be that the cluster board has stuffed out. My original cluster stuffed out, it had dead batteries so my service lights couldnt reset, and my temp gauge was always not working, or showing over heatings, or just flying around the place. I fiddled with it for ages trying to get it going but it would always just stop working again. Best thing to do would be go to a wreckers and get another gauge cluster, i got mine for $10, and shoved it in myself which takes about 30 minutes if ya dont know what ya doing and like 10 if you have done it before. If the actual speedo isnt broken, swap it around in the new cluster so you can keep your original odometer reading. Then it should be all fixed.

Let me get this straight, a Turbo e30 touring?
-
Is it just me or are there a lot more Alpinas in Aussie than in NZ?
-
Yea im going to have to talk to my mate about that. I know where I can link them from if we have to. I will see what he says, he found most of the files on there, so he can sort it out. Thanks for the heads up on copyright, i didnt even think about it *stupid me*

Will have to see about the copyright thing. Bimmersport is a forum, when it comes to actually finding copies of things about e30's such as wiring diagrams, pin-outs, etc etc, bimmersport is no help at all ( for me at least, ) I'd much rather have a place where i can just download the thing i need without having to ask someone for it. When it comes to E30's there is e30tech, and r3vlimited. Both are very good forums, e30tech is esspecially good if you want to talk to someone about e30s, because it isnt just full of owners, but also a lot of absolute E30 nuts who know everything about e30's. But it still lacks a database of files to download from. There are links to different websites which have the stuff but it's all scattered around the internet. There has been talk from users on e30tech about making a site full of e30 imformation but nothing have really happened until now. The only reason we called it e30nz is because we are New Zealanders who have made it, at the end of the day most of the people to go onto the side ( already anyway ) and download files, are Americans. We posted the same thing as on here on e30tech and havent had a single negative comment. E30nz is not going to try to be a direct competitor to bimmersport. Bimmersport is fine for NZ BMW owners who want to talk. It's a site that serves a totally different perpose to e30nz that is about BMWs. The only reason i posted this thread was because i know some people will like to use it from here. It has a forum, but i dont expect it to get too big, but it's there anyway. Cheers fellas.

Hey guys, Me and my mate, 320guy, have made a new website, www.e30nz.com . We aim to compile as much bmw and e30 information as we can into one place so it is easy for people to find. We are still in the process of adding stuff, but there is already alot of information we think people would find useful. Videos, manuals, diagrams, etc etc. Head over to the downloads and articles section. Feel free to sign up and add your photos to the photo gallery and post in the forum. There is also a uploader, so that you can upload any manuals/diagrams/images you think others may find useful. You can find it on the navigation menu or here is a link: http://orac.e30nz.com/upload The password to upload is 'e30' So yea, www.e30nz.com . Thanks guys.

Pre-face lift E30 manual box into face lift E30

Dont know about 318i, but if you are swapping a prefacelift manual box from a 320i, 323i, or 325i into a facelift 320i, 323i, or 325i there will be no trouble. If you go the other way ( facelift box into prefacelift ) there are some sensors in the bellhousing that you will need to sort out because prefacelift and facelift 320i, 323i, and 325i's have a different ECU and wiring loom. If the gearbox is out of a 320i, 323i, or 325i and going into a 318i, i dont think it will be that simple, but i dont know. -
I reckon the engine would be worth maybe $300 or $400 depending on how well its running. You just need to find a buyer! If i was you i would keep it, if ya have a 318i you might wanna drop it in sometime for some more power Would be that hard considering you have the wiring loom and everything from the 323i car. I have been told that the chrome bumpers in mint condition are quite rare. Might be worth something, who knows.

I'd get a 325i. They are the only one that is anywhere near fast, and they were still only 171bhp brand new. For $7000 you will get a total minter, if you want to do modding such as turboing dont get a 320i because most of the information on the internet and everywhere about turboing is from 325i's and 318i's because the 320i didnt come out in the united states. All the engines are pretty good, the 6cyl engines have a 60,000k cambelt, and the 318i's have a camchain ( I think ) so yea, if you buy a 6cyl check out the cambelt to check if it needs doing or not. When it comes to picking if you want a facelift or pre facelift e30, its really up to personal opinion. I like both. Facelift has plastic bumpers and door trimming etc, pre facelift has more chrome.

Man when i win lotto, im gonna get a massive chevy v8, shove it in my e30, and wheel spin past a speed camera in a 50k area at 80k smoking up the rear tyres, just for the photo to hang on my wall. Good times.
-
There is an easy fix to stop getting speed camera fines, its called a MASSIVE TURBO. If you manage to hit like 400kmh maybe the camera wont be fast to get ya? I seen it on Top Gear, forgot if it worked or not =P
-
I feel for you man, last week i got a speeding ticket ( pulled over ) for doing 114kmh in a 100k area, $80 fine, then this week a stupid camera van got me for 67k at 10pm at night in a 50k area, another $120. Now im not blaming anyone, and i accept these are my fault. But FFS, never had a speeding fine in my life, then 2 in 2 weeks!!! FARRRRK!>!>!>!>!1111

If want you better performance, just get a K&N filter for your airbox. You wont notice the difference anyway, but they are ment to be better than some repco podfilter. If you want induction noise, drill a few SMALL holes in the airbox =P Small enough that it makes no difference to power tho. I wouldnt do that, personally. lol.
-
Agreed, but it still looks bloody awesome. If it's true they didnt bring out M325i's out 4 door, its a real shame. It looks bloody pro.
-
Looking in and seeing those seats, and rollcage? Seems sporty enough to me.
-
oh sheet, sorry didnt realise! ( seriosuly wasnt trying to take the piss ) haha crack up. You know what i mean tho
-
Lol, you know what i mean, i wouldnt really call a 318 auto with some basket weaves on it a motorsport, but with in reason, i dont have a problem people calling there cars motorsports.
-
Yea it aint a M3, its a motorsport. A E30 M3 is totally different to a M325i. M3 = four cylinder 2.3L with the flared guards etc. M325i = Standard M20B25 block, fancy suspension, and LSD, etc in a normal e30 coupe body. In saying that, if ya added some fancy springs, and tinkered with the engine of ya e30, why not slap a motorsport badge on it? It looks cool, and its more 'motorsporty.' I have no problem with that.
-
I guess this all really depends on what ya wanna classify as a motorsport, like a few people have said. Its just like the arguement on what is a genuine Alpina, because there are a lot of cars with all the Alpina stuff put on them ( not just a few badges and stuff, but the engine work and stuff as well ) but never went to Alpina. Consider my car for instances, it has aftermarket shocks and suspension etc, its now manual, but it isn't leather, has a few M stripes down the side ( which were genuine bmw decals. ) And the previous owner shoved a few M badges on it. It may as well be a Motorsport, it didnt come out as one originally, but it is just as good as one, except a few things such as leather seats etc. ( In saying that i wouldn't try and sell it for how much a Motorsports go for ) It all comes down to how you look at it. Are you like "It didnt come out of the factory as a Motorsport, so it isnt one" or are you "It didnt come out of the factory as one, but its been modified to be like one, so it may as well be considered one." I kinda reckon any bmw that ya wanna call a motorsport can be called a motorsport ( not a genuine one tho. ) My mates got a 316i which is now 1.8L and nearly 350hp ( turbo... ), it has a motorsport badge on it, and brembo brakes etc, its not a "BMW Motorsport" but it may as well be considered a motorsport BMW considering it would blow the doors off any genuine motorsport anyway =P All up ta how ya look at it.

Well i have read on the internet, and been told my various bmw mechanics that ATF is fine is many bmw gearboxs. I think the reason is because it doesnt actually really need its lubrication propertys, but only needs the fluid for the syncros. But thats just what a mechanic told me. One guy who did a manual conversion told me his gearbox was really clunky when he originally put manual gearbox fluid in it, so he changed over the ATF and it was way better.
