Long straight back roads ( turns into gravel ). No drive ways on the straight at hand. No trees around. Only farm land. Nearest town around 25 minutes drive away. Yea being a TOTAL idiot i guess.

Sounds like you know all the facts and figures

It was sunday. Was installing new rotors. Needed pads. Thought for $90 they couldn't be that bad. Oh how wrong I was.
-
Yes i did.

I wasnt 200kmh to stop. It was 190kmh ( indicated speed ) to around 100kmh to take a corner. After that one corner they were fading like no tomorrow. It took one corner and they were like that. I know they are intended for normal road use but I am still surprised that managed to make them produce smoke. I am not trying to make an arguement either. I am just stating what happened, and my opinion.

I remember searching for those Hawk pads about a year ago. I priced some up in the states while i was on holiday and they were around $80usd if i remember correctly, what prices are we looking at here?
-
Although it is hard to see, if you look hard you can see the smoke around the discs. By the time I thought "man i needs pics" it had kinda stopped.

http://www.ebcbrakes.co.nz/ They are the main supplier for the e30 serie i believe. Well when i meant the best, i went in there and they were the better of the two that they had in stock at the time. They were $95 instead of the $60 ones.

I managed to catch my repco brake pads on fire on the weekend. The brand is Lucas. They are rubbish. Dont buy them if you actually want to be able to brake hard more than once in a single drive. Never buying pads from repco again. And they were the "best" ones they had, not the cheapies. After braking hard from around 190k once, they were toast. You could see smoke coming out from behind my wheels, oh and the smell... I am running slotted discs but i think the same thing would of happened with oem discs as well. Just a thought i should let people know. EBC pads next time for me...

nah its just there is this e46 m3 around here iv seen this ditzy older blonde lady driving, and i just think hairdresser everytime i see it
-
And make sure your car isnt automatic with the sport mode setting! Or you will be stuck in limp mode with that new ecu!
-
When I did my conversion on my old car I got all the stuffed I needed from wreckers and pick a part for under like $50 =P
-
i would get the e30. purely because when i see an e46 m3 i think "oh cool" but when i see an e30 m3 (which iv only seen a few times on holiday) i think "DAAAMNNNNNNNNNNNNN" basically, for me, e46 is just too hairdresser car and e30 is a race car with history.

No interior photos though, must get around to it.

Lol in that thread they are saying the k's are dodgy. The reason for that is that the odometer broke. I checked on carjam and it broke around a year or two ago ( i cant remember exactly ) and he never fixed it. He said he had done around 5000km since it was broken so i believe him. I took the odometer out and took it apart and found one of the gears between the electric motor and the numbers had teeth shared off it. So i took another gauge cluster apart and replaced the gear with one from there. It's now fine. So when i sell it I will just add a generous amount of miles to the amount displayed. If ya see me give us a wave. I thought it was a pretty good deal, I didn't realise it had an LSD until my mate was checking out the car once i had bought it and saw the diff had a S on it, I was pretty stoked with that. If you wanna pay $6000 you can have it for $6000!!!! But then again, I am happy with it for now.

Obama will be good for Americas image but I have no idea what he is going to do about the economy.
-
Not trying, but I guess if i got an offer I would always consider =D Yea it was in Auckland for sale around 2 months ago. He wanted $4500 for it but he didnt say it had an LSD and he thought the cambelt was "fine" when infact i just got it changed and the mechanic said the tensioner had nearly snapped.
-
And for resale value on trademe for example? any idea?
-
Ok so i have a 1988 E30 325i. I bought it for $4000 but i paid that much because thats how much I sold my old one for and thought it was reasonable. I am wondering seriously though how much it is worth, for insurance, and just because I would like to know. So here it goes, its black, manual 5 speed, done 65,000miles ( less than 120,000km ), has an LSD, full black recaro leather interior in good condition, no cracks in the dash, no rust other than a bubble on the sunroof, and has a brand new fuel pump, cambelt, tensioner, waterpump, and all that. It also is lowered 35mm on Apex springs and has had the guards rolled slightly to fit the 205s, but i had them repainted at the same time so looks good. oh and it also has slotted front discs from EBC brakes on the front which are brand new. Any ideas how much?
-
Yea i dont think you will be wanting to run more than 8psi on the standard ecu and chip.
-
Awesome project, I bet its bloody fast. That engine looks the business. But whats up with the guards? In some of the photos they look like they dont line up with the doors that well.. maybe your doors need shimming?
