Yea you shouldnt be able to hear it hissing from sitting inside the car etc... The fuel pump is on the left hand side of the car (opposite side from the fuel cap) under the car just in front of the rear wheel
-
You will probably find that even the stock ones are noticable as they are an external tank pump.. is it a whine or more of a constant air leak kinda sound? because mine makes an air leak sound which is just the pump simply running normally, has done so since the car was purchased in 2000. Luke

Yes very much could be the idle control valve especially when the diagnostics tells me that the TPS Sensor on the throttle body is not telling the computer to switch the Idle control valve on only thing is ithat i find this strange only when the car is cold that it misfires and dies Nah didnt fix the running rich issue either Strangely enough I didnt need to wire in the diagnostics plug where as on alot of other forums I have read that you need too? But anyway it worked and we diagnosed the setup and the only issues were the TPS not comming down enough in resistance to switch over to the idle control valve... As for the conversion I received the ECU/Loom/engine etc all as one package however, that motor (E34) was bung so bought another e36 motor which just has a different oil pan and everything else pretty much swaps straight over. So the e36 motor is running off the e34 ECU but they have all the same sensors and ignition/fuel setups. Could the fact that the ECU is from an AUTO BMW cause a problem? It was the latest BOSCH wireless scanner whatever thats called? A nice fancy metalic green unit that plugs into the car end. We did not drive the car with it plugged in so maybe thats an option. So to conclude heres what i have done: - Swapped coil packs over - Had brand new BOSCH Super 4 plugs in and now have brand new NGK Factory plugs in - Swapped Idle Control valve over for another - Swapped Throttle Positioning senser over - Swapped Fuel Rail, Injectors and FPR over - Checked for vacuum leakse - Checked for cracked head only by seeing if the water system is milky tho... - Brand new fuel filter when conversion was done NB: Exhaust manifolds only have about half the exhaust studs installed cant get the others on will try this weekend and the charcoal canister is also missing. Also there is a water or vacuum nipple next to where the water temp sender and fuel temp sender sensors are plugged in under neath the intake manifold up the front of the head, is that meant to be a water hose or vacuum hose comming off there? What gets me the most is that when i put a certain ammount of fuel in the car it makes the problem 10x worse... Like when i goto start it after I have put gas in you hear a loud POP noise come from under the hood every now and then could that be because i dont have all exhaust manifold studs in and its blowing excess fuel out between the head and manifold? Cheers, Luke

Yea i was wondering if it was up the right way, where it says OUT on the filter the hose from the intake manifold is attached and where it says IN the hose from the tank is attached. Not yet still trying to find a 2nd hand airflow meter going to go see if there is one at the wreckers on the weekend Thanks Cam

Also just to take into consideration I replaced the fuel filter when i did the engine conversion. I was thinking that it could maybe also be the fuel pressure regulator? Anybody got any clue or ideas? Cheers, Luke

Open to anything really along the lines of a hiace, L300 or Naravan etc... got some more details on it bro? Cheers

Hey guys, as some of you may know I have done the m50b25 conversion in my E30. Now im stuck with an overfueling problem.. When i cold start it in the mornings it coughs and misses and struggles to idle. Then when i try to drive off under load it hesitates for a few seconds (pretty much dies) until i keep my foot flat down then it jolts back into life and revs out. Once the car has warmed up it seems to be fine. Now, however today i filled it up with a tank of gas and also about 1 month ago and whenever i fill her up with more than say half a tank it runs really really rich blows black smoke out the back and the fuel gauge drops from above 55L and uses about 10L of gas. I am stumped with what is wrong, have changed coil packs over, checked for vacuum leaks and even had it on the diagnostics The diagnostics tells me the air flow meter is faulty and the TPS is not getting low enough in resistance to switch the idle control valve on. Those are the only two errors it found. Also tried brand new plugs no difference there either Cheers, Luke

Yes guys my M50 BMW is up for sale! Im going to buy the likes of a corolla or something for a daily driver and start paying debt off and saving towards a house so it just has to go now... heres the details: 1988 E30 BMW Diamond Shwartz Black ENGINE & DRIVELINE: --------- 1995 E36 525i M50B25 engine & Manual Transmission E30 325/320i radiator 16" Electrical Fan FRAM Air Hog Pod Filter Locked Diff M52 Exhaust Headers (Modified to fit between steering arm and block) 2.25" Exhaust right through with standard 318i Muffler in the middle Euro Style upsweet exhaust tip VW MKII Golf Brake Booster Prosport Smokefaced Temperature gauge BODY & Parts: ------- 4 Door 17" TSW Rims With 205/40/17 tyres all round (Dunlops on the front, Federals on the rear) 35% Tints all round M&H Black fixed bucket seats on NZKW MSNZ Approved E30 Rails (No cert required) Sportsline Steering wheel Dash mat E36 Shift knob Jamex 60mm Lowering springs Got 25mm spacers on the way but they are not due for about 5 weeks so will have to supply them when available Heres the cons of the car: Needs a cert for the motor and ride height (Sump is lower than legal 100mm height) Also a few miner dents from my crappy jack pusing into the doors, also a dent in the rear panel below the left hand tail light so needs pushing out and painting along with the rear bumper. Motor has been wired by myself and been running for the last 2 months but the diagnostics plug needs to be wired up and overfueling issue needs to be tested for.. The car is very fun to drive and sounds great, very torquey (all i can say is that its not shy at hooking 4th gear) definitely something I dont want to sell, bare in mind it needs a little attention from someone who is going to give it and finish off what I have no time for anymore. Has current WOF due in May, Rego runs out on the 25th of this month so I will replace the rego only. Have a spare M50B25 motor but the head is pourous and beyond repair according to a engine rebuilder who attempted it but i was going to take it to another engine rebuilder to see what they say. So there is a spare pretty much everything for this motor except intake and exhaust, afm etc... Am after $8000ono will leave on here for a few weeks otherwise ill goto trademe. As far as swaps go ill be open to something along the lines of a daily driver that hasnt been touched etc for insurance purposes or a van + cash, I was going to buy a E39 or E46 2.8L BMW so my insurance that has been approved for one is based on an unmodified vehicle. Contact me on 0276992178 PICS: Will have more images of Exhaust tip and bucket seats soon Cheers, Luke

Nothing deluxe about sun cracked, cold in the winter, hot in summer leather either... Thats right some things maybe nicer than others but can also be less practical or require more attentuion/servicing etc.. e.g A luxury 728i with 12 computers, more to go wrong... Leather, it cracks over time... Big luxury car, takes up more room, more fuel consumption

Upgrade to a 2001 subaru legacy or keep the E30
Boost Junky replied to tibbs.james's topic in Off-Topic
Yea keep the E30 dude. Dare I say it but never been a fan of Subrarus. Hate the sound and the look of them and lets not get started with the cost of fixing them... thats my opinion anyway -
