  1. Sweet thanks Brent, let ya know closer to the time
  2. Just of note. If you do decide to do this make sure the manifolds all sealed up well. Ive read of some of the guys in the states with various leaks from not sealing up properly and spent hours trying to find exactly why their motor was not performing right.
  3. Ah I see, I always wondered with the alloy blocks. If you don't end up using them and want to sell the bottom end components i may be interested in a dew months
  4. As mops said whats gone in the m52b28tu? I see you mentioned there are plenty of stuffed m50b28 motors around? Apparantly the m52 are good for parts to stroke out the m50b25 motors to something along the lines of 2.8L - 3.0L?
  5. I was going to run a catch can that returned to the sump but somebody mentioned to me the other day about moisture etc which you would not want to drain back into your sump? On another note, the ICV lines... one runs before the throttle body from the ICV and one runs to the intake manifold after the throttle body from the ICV on the M50. Is it the same on a M20? Either way should i be plumbing any of the two hoses under boost? Or leave the one before the throttle body venting to the catch can? And the other one left in the Intake manifold? This may apply to you also sydwayz e30.
  6. M50B25 Turbo or non turbo but you will soon want more power.... If you dont care about staying true to BMW I would also say either 2JZGTE or the 1UZFE...
  7. Sweet, how long has the turbo build been in the making? Looks like you have done alot. You should be fine with the 325i radiator, thats what im running.. guess we both will find out. Just a warning with the manifold if its a cheap one be prepared for possible cracks being stainless, have been down that path before. Shouldnt be a problem for you being a mechanic though with a welder handy. Also there is one thing I would seriously recomend spending money on... a descent ECU. One of the most vital components in keeping your setup alive! I've cheaped out in this department in the past and it just ends up costing you more in the long run. Other than that its looking awesome man, cant wait to see this beast running! p.s how well do the standard m20 motors handle forced induction?
  8. Ah i see, gotta get an LSD first before I can even do that. I'm not too clued up on shimming or adding extra clutchs to an LSD.
  9. Yea no doubt it would have been alot more strain all that power on driving only one wheel, but in this case the open diff always hooked two wheels... dont ask how but it did, still the diff was fairly old and im sure it was loosing oil blaa blaa... Did you get your LSD shimmed Cam? What did it cost to get done?
  10. Cam I blew a medium cased diff with the M50 conversion non turbo haha. Im sure the diff was pretty used and on its way out aye. I had it going in 3rd gear doughys and it got noisy then went out to do more... dropped the clutch in 1st and she just shattered.... This was a crappy open diff btw
  11. Nice work man! So sleeper too, I bet you could give a few people a fright in this thing... Respect for the 8!
  12. Yea things are finally starting to happen Chris. Yep shes a medium cased diff, has always been even though my car was factory 318i... could have been changed sometime before Dad purchased the car. I have got the M325 CV Joints and axles so dunno wether that will sort out the spline issue Andrew? Not really sure about how much boost I shall be running, the guy whos tuning it will tune it to the most amount of power possible whilst keeping a safe reliable tune. Hopefully I can run atleast 10-12psi, should be able to no hassle.. I was thinking today is there any other M50 E30's in the country? Im sure Glen or somebody used to have one? Im positive theres no Turbo ones...
  13. Rough idea of how the turbo will sit... be great when its actually mounted there
  14. Nice Ray, loving the stainless manifold! And the wheels oh and the steering wheel... hell the whole car haha
  15. Oh sweet cause it fits fine atm but havnt had it heat up yet obviously haha. Ah I see I will do that just in case I think lol. Suprisingly Mike the manifold slips on and off no sweat, you slide it off the studs and then towards the front of the engine bay and presto! haha, so yea plenty of room suprisingly. Yea you can't see from the photos but there is def no way even 2.5" can route between the block and steering arm let alone 3" back to the drawing board again i think, could get him to change the angle of the last runner comming out of the manifold.
  16. Amen to that haha, my manifold is solid as i dont see it cracking as long as the welds are descent I was going to ask you Mike, why you never went down the LINK path then realised you are trying to do your build on a relatively low budget good stuff. What did the MG cost you in the end? Are you satisfied with the setup? Also guys with the crank case ventelation, be sure if you are using a fairly large ID vacuum hose if you are using the vacuum between the pod filter and turbo inlet. If the hose is too small in ID your turbo will literally try to suck the oil out of your motor lol! Also I will take as many pics possible of my Intercooler setup for you Mike, you going to use the Subaru type setup still or buy a custom FMIC?
  17. Not bad eh Mike. Yea um 3" you reckon i could fit that somewhere? I was going to go 3" to the firewall then 2.5" to get around the manifold and steering arm. My mate's work had his work cut them out with a cnc lathe. Do you mean make each port hole individual in the flange? That might be a good idea actually. I was also reading on another guys post last night, that its important to have on the turbo end have the outlet from the manifold in two ports due to the runners being of unequal length? As far as the bolts go not all of mine are in so might be a good idea to check haha but the majority of the ones that are on there still allow the manifold to slip on no sweat. I have only used two nuts to hold the manifold on so far so will have to make sure i can get them all on. Yea bro for sure I might try do the intercooler piping today be nice to get it done so will post pics up if I do. Haha thats right you dont have an intercooler yet aye?
  18. Forgot to mention I also fitted my intercooler up the other day and hope to do the intercooler pipin in the next week or so. Also you can see in some of the above photos how I had to cut out some of the battery try for room to run the downpipe off the turbo, battery will now be placed in the boot... Heres the intercooler mounted:
  19. Haha too right Andrew, chur.... Well finally some progress today. My fabricator finally got started on the manifold this morning and has tacked it up to the general kinda shape we want. All I can say is TIGHT FIT For the turbo down pipe im going to have to run 3" off the turbo to the back of the engine bay and then S aroun the back of the manifold then S back round the Steering rod and out to the exhaust system along with some tricky oval pieces to give more clearance. As far as to where the wastegate will fit im stumped for now. Theres plenty of room for it but, only if i were to attacth it in the oppostite direction of the exhaust gas flow. Not this is vital if you want the wastegate to vent reliably and effectively. I have to mount it no more than 90 deg of the main direction of the exhaust flow, best performance is in a V shape from the manifold. Heres some pics of the rough shape of the manifold in place:
  20. Mint bro they came out dope as! I'll have a proper look tommorow at them when u come get that money off me.
  21. Yea sorry... reason for that, not much really happening atm. Apparantly my mates brothers work is meant to be CNC Cutting the manifold flanges out this week so should be done now then my mates brother just needs to make the manifold lol. So after that ill nearly be done! Few small things done that I may as well show ya in the mean time, my boost, oil pressure and water temp gauges are all hooked up.....
  22. Boost Junky

    My E30 325i

Yea I knew of the rust problem when dad owned my car but thought he had fixed it. Turns out only temporarily lol with silicon RTV I know the feeling dude im the same with mine but wanting that extra power there which will be awesome, you got any plans mechanical wise? or just gonna leave the engine stock? Hmmm im can strip most the stuff away and my mate can weld up the hole so hopefully he doesnt charge me to much haha! So that cost included painting also or?
  23. Yeaaaaa mayne u jst need tha tacho bro
  24. Haha even if it woz i cant drift hahah
