Got the wheels and tyres on today! In the end went with Toyo proxes T1R 225x45x17 front and 245x40x17 on the rear. So far am extremely impressed with the Toyo's (I normally run Direzza DZ101 or Sport Maxx) Also no rubbing whatsoever - so may go up to 255's or 265's next time round on the rear. Also have had a huge change in handling (was running 235x40x18 all round) used to loose slight traction in the front then loose the rear - now the front keeps turning in and the rear keeps gripping. Will post up pics tomorrow of the new look. Oh and the new wheels are Hamann HM3's 17x8.5 et38

Cheers Glenn, the car won't be going anywhere unless its on the back of a truck! Luckily i was 2mins away from home so let it cool down and then drove it home. The only problem is my mum doesn't get back to NZ for another 2 weeks - will it be ok to leave it at home till then or should i be getting it sorted asap? Also jsut spoke to Jeff Gray, they said waterpump or thermostat, and would probably cost around the $600 mark, that sounds about right to me?? $300 odd for the pump and about the same in labour. Also if the waterpump needs to be done is there anything else we should be doing at the same time? Thanks again.

I literally had the same thing happen to me last night in my mums 1996 328i e36 touring - no sign of leaks, oil looked ok, coolant looked ok and wasn't bubbling. Also the car just had an inspection II at jeff gray - should these thing have been checked and should i be ringing them to sort it?? Thanks.

Yup bought the hamann ones from aucks - should look good once they get here and on the car!! I might just try 245's on the back and 225's on the front then and see how they go!

I have an 323i e36 coupe mtech with mtech suspension. I have just got some 17x8.5 et38 wheels and want to know how wide i can run on the back. i'm thinking of running 225x45x17 on the front and maybe 245/255x40x17 on the back?? Does anyone have a staggered fitment on their car similar? The car is standard height and i don't want it to rub with weight! I currently have 18x8 with 235x40x18 (et38 i think) all round and with 5 people and stuff in the boot it catches the archs on bumps, and the fronts rub on lock. How wide can i run without rubbing on the rear?? Thanks.

So it seems someone mis-informed me of what these are worth - i'll take $300ono for this diff! I also have a 3.15 from an e36 325i and another from an e30 318i (can't remember the ratio though)

If your car is a 1990 model ie black bumpers you will have the m40 engine - the conversion i have is for an m10 (earlier engine, chrome bumper e30's) However it may pay to double check with someone more in the know as to whether it can be bolted up to your m40.

Would a front swaybar from a 1992 e36 sedan bolt straight into my 1986 325i sedan? I am currently running an 18mm one, and i have a 20mm e30 one to replace it. However i also have an e36 one at home, am unsure of diameter. Question is would it bolt up? Thanks in advance for any help.

Haha no worries - these ratio diffs are getting harder to come by. And obviously the one thats used in the race series. If anyone wants to make an offer below this price feel free.

Slightly off topic but they should also start up the 'driving days' here too with the mroe exotic cars like they have in the uk. I went on one, got to drive a lambo murcielago, ferrari 360 spyder and a porsche 911 (996) turbo. All up was about NZ$1000 but worth every penny! ....where else can you do 160mph in one of them legally???

Good score! I bought some BBS wheels off trademe last week, and when i had them balanced found out all 4 were buckled!! But to be fair the guy took them back and gave my $$$ back!
