    My E30 325i

I've personally only ever seen 1 other and that was on a pretty standard 318i from memory! I picked up from BMW today the engine mounts, viscous fan and new hose - so have those and the m3 style offset control arm bushes to fit. I need to get hold of the sway bar bushes tomorrow - so there is a bit of work involved in all that. I'll be leaving the lip black but may get it re-painted in the future. Looks wise i will get some smoked indicators for the front and side - and thats about it for now. If i could warrant $700 i would get a set of the angel eye headlights of trademe but its a bit too steep for me. I need new headlights, both my outers are cracked and fill with water! And sometime soon i'll be getting some 15x7 wheels and rubber for track use. Then who knows! I have a few ideas up my sleeve but i'm trying not to get too ahead of myself or my bank acc!

    My E30 325i

Thanks, its a long process, but worth it. Thanks! No the lip isn't the stock one - i got it of a bsport member through trademe. Its not tech 1 or 2, i assume it is an 'iS' lip of some description or maybe an msport one. Maybe someone can shed some light??

    Idle

Could also be the rubber hose going to the throttle body from the airbox. It may be split. This happened with mine, which was split where the hose clip goes.

    My E30 325i

Just thought i'd add an update with a few pics i took recently. Put new front lip on the e30, will fit it properly on the sides when i get a chance! Have ordered new engine mounts, new fan and new hose from Jeff Gray - so i'll be kissing goodbye to another $300! I also now have some 'm3' style offset urethane control arm bushes. So at some point i will be fitting/getting someone to fit all those goodies! The one of it front on is my personal fav! And the other front on with wheels turned!

    E30 318i

Have the below car for sale, want $500 but will take $400 from bsport members. 1985 318i auto m10, de-reg, no wof Gearbox is stuffed (the last owner towed it so stuffed forward gears, still goes in reverse though!) Have started it 2 or 2 times and engine seems ok, i am not however a mechanic. The car is a bit rough but could be a good project for someone. I also have the required bits for a manual conversion if the buyer is interested. Feel free to ask any questions.
  7. If you get stuck i have front guard, grill and headlight, however they are in silver and i'm in wgtn.
  8. Got the ones from the same e36 that the engine is out of. flick me a text ollie.

    E36 3.15 diff

    I have a 3.15 diff from an e36. $280ono and its yours...
  10. I can start you off with an m50b25 for a good price - its sitting in my garage 5mins away from you if your interested. pm me.
  11. I got my H&R's from Keith, only fitted them a few weeks back, and used them on the track. Finding them fantastic to drive with! Highly recommended!
  12. Looking real goot Atta - glad the roof spoiler worked out for you! Looks alot better than it was going to on mine, must be the colour! Can't wait to see progress on suspension/brakes!
  13. Would love to get these for my e30 but am a bit short on $$$ at the moment, and i don't think you'd take $500! Good luck with the sale, they are a class looking wheel!
  14. Let me know how you go with this wayne, will be sorting the rest of my system from the headers back in the future, and would be interesting to see what you think goes better, 2 pipes or 1!
  15. With regard to costs invloved.... I had flaring in my trans at only 52000km, mainly between 2nd/3rd, the gearbox had to be reconditioned at a cost of just over 3k by pharazan auto's in lower hutt. Thank god i didn't have to pay for it! I am now on 65000km and i still get the 1st to 2nd jolts in the morning, other than that it seems to be fine... My car is a 96 323i coupe. Lesson to be leart: If you get an e36 without a zf tranny get a warranty!! Having said that my old man has a 1996 sedan with i think nearly 140000km on the clock and the gearbox seems to be fine - but who knows whether it has been reconditioned in the past or not. On another note - i just got him a 2000 728i, singapore import. Did they use Jatco boxes in these at all? Further point: my mum has a 96' 328i touring, nz new, and i have to say the zf trans is so much nicer to drive with full stop, just seems tighter to me. I think i'll be getting a nz new one next time round!

    e30 rust ><

Very common, get it sorted before it gets worse! I had it round both rear tail lights. Shouldn't be a too costly exercise.

    My E30 325i

Yea thats the one! Get to wait in those lights every night - I work at Brendan Foot's. Oh great, are they nolathane? I may give you a call on monday and price some. Where would be a good place to fit them do you think? Glad to hear my time wasn't too bad then for a pretty stock car. I hope to knock of a few secs at least next time round!

    My E30 325i

The price you pay for genuine parts from bmw i guess... I tried to get gaskets with heat shields elsewhere with no luck, and i didn't want to melt my plugs so i stuck with oem ones and they were $50ea! then the waterpump was $150, which made up most of the cost! On the rust side i have noticed a couple of other small bits but they aren't too major and i will get them fixed soon too!

    My E30 325i

Went to the club day at Manfield last Sat. Was an awesome day and a chance to have some fun without the fuzz spoiling it!! Was amazed at just how well a 20+ year old car with 240clicks can go!! I timed a few laps at the end and was consistently in the 1min35sec, with a passenger and just the spare removed. Was topping out at 160km on start/finish straight and 150 on middle and back straights. This was my first time at a club day... Aside from driving ferraris in the UK on an airfield! Main problem i had was the wheels/tyres, they were too big and the tyres had no tread (i knew this but $$$ didn't allow me to get some 15/16" wheels and race tyres....) I had alot of grip but couldn't get round the smaller hairpins as fast due to rubbing and gripping on the arches. The bushes need replacing and after the track use they are now completely shot! The only other one was having to bed the new brakes in on the track so didn't know how hard i could go on them in the later sessions. Below is taken at manfield and how the car looks at the moment, i'll get some ones of it on the track up when i get hold of them!

    My E30 325i

After getting all of the engine work done i finally got round to fitting the -30mm H&R springs from keith (suspension) - the ride is not much harder and it isn't too low, but handles a hell of alot better!! While fitting the springs it was decided i need some new front brakes for the club day. I decided on brembo discs and titanium stripe pads. After bedding them in and using them on the track i can safely say it was money well spent!! Few pics of the new brakes going in...

    My E30 325i

Two words, preventive maintenance!! With fitting and new coolant etc was about 1k all up, and worth every penny. As you say it transformed the car!
  23. I have a black one, in welly - it was sprayed by the last owner. I think its good condition. Will see if i can get pic tomorrow night. Or ring/text 0210277766 I'm in the hutt.

    My E30 325i

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! Had the air con pipe moved - now runs forward then round the other side of strut tower (will try post pics this weekend) So now i don't need to worry about the headers burning a hole through it! Got the car back last night, had the following done: New Water pump New Cambelt New Tensioner New A/C Belt New P/S Belt New Fan Belt New Fuel Filter New Oil Filter New Engine Oil New Coolent Tappets & Valve clearances New Throttle to air box pipe General check of everything else, tighten up loose bits etc. Car has never felt better!! I have now come to the conclusing that nothing compares to the feeling you get when driving a manual E30 325i on full song thats running mint! An interesting problem that was had was after all this had been done, the car was started, ran really rough, too rich, wouldn't idle etc. The problem turned out to be that someone had played with the afm (more than likely to compensate for the split in air intake pipe) Had to be moved 4 notches to get the car running properly and smoothly! Now I just need to get the H & R's in, more than likely this weekend! ...Then bring on Manfield!
