Got my headers installed on Friday - worth every penny and then some!!! Definatly more torque!! More power and smoother delivery! Over the moon with them, thanks again Wayne! Highly recommended.
-
Headers went in on Friday - best money i have spent in a long time!! Thanks Wayne!! The throttle and power is so much smoother, more torque, and better response in general! Oh and more power!! Can't fault them in any way! The only small problem i have is that then air con pipe is running a bit to close to the headers - so i'll try and get a new pipe made up and get it relocated away from the headers! They get pretty hot! Car failed WOF on p/s belt and moisture in headlights, which i knew. surprisingly not on tyres too though??!!
-
When they were doing the rest of the rust they did find some up there too where all the cables go through - and fixed it at the same time! Put it this way the panel beater spent a whole day just on the rust in the firewall/foot well alone! ...So crossed fingers i don't find any more for a while! Thanks for the tip though!
-
Thanks Mark! Yeah that is probably a good name - its bruising my wallet! Haha! So far the grand total of what i have spent on it, without the purchase of the car is just over $4k!!! But it'll be worth it! Just need a bimmersport sticker or 2 now!!
-
Headers go in today and also they are fixing the hole in the exhaust! Also WOF check today - should still fail on cracked p/s belt, tyres and moisture in headlights. Belts etc to be done next week! Can't wait to get it back and see how it goes with the headers and an exhaust with no hole!!

Its a 5min job - all your doin is adding a plug onto the end of the new ones for ease so they are not hard wired. ...Thats if you don't mind cutting them off oem m3 mirrors.....
-
These don't have an oem harness, i just cut the plugs off an old set of e36 mirrors i had and joined the plugs onto the new ones, so now can just plug and unplug the new ones as i please.
-
Yea, i put a set on my coupe. They seem to do the job - you need to drill a new hole in each one for the wiring to go through. Aside from that they are pretty good! Not sure how close to oem they are - but then the price isn't close to oem! They would fool most i think. Put it this way if i bought another e36 and i needed some i would get these again....

Small Update: Have now bought all of the following ready to go into the car over the next few weeks. All brand new from Jeff Gray BMW ....$487.94!! Lucky little e30! Power Steering Belt A/C Belt Fan Belt Cambelt Tensioner Water Pump Exhaust to manifold gasket w/heat shield x 2 Once this is all in then the headers from Wayne and exhaust leak fixed and finally the H&R springs from Keith, then get it to the club day at Manfield on the 4th of Oct! Can anyone recommend someone to install all of the belts, water pump and tensioner?? Don't want to pay fortunes, and am happy for someone to do a perky. I just want it done right! Thanks.

Welcome, good to see another wgtn member!
-
Yea thats probably a good idea - and part of the reason i am getting mine done. I have no idea when it was last done, and at least i'll know everything has been done then replace accordingly in the future... Also i want to get the car on the track in the next month to see how she goes and i don't want a 'BANG' half way through!!
-
Even more reason to do it now then! Thanks Glen. Just out of interest what would be your cost for the following parts, oem or decent brand as bravo suggested. Fan Belt A/C Belt P/S Belt Cam Belt Tensioner Water Pump Thanks.

Firstly the car 1986 Nz New E30 M20 325i Manual 238km, last 7 digits of chassis: 0901527 The question I have to change the power steering belt for a wof, but i want to change all other belts in the process inc cambelt (preventative maintenance). I want to use oem belts (any advantage?) which i will buy then get someone to install. Can someone with a bit more knowledge tell me exactly what parts/belts/tensioners i would need? The car has A/C also. Thanks.

I will email you a pic of my one tonight when i get home from work...

Just checked my car at lunch and the 4 wires are coloured as follws: Purple/Yellow Brown Blue/White Green/Yellow My red wires from headlights are fed into the Puple/yellow factory wire and my black ones are fed into the factory brown wire. Mine have been wired up like this for a year and never had any issues, apart from one headlight that every now and again decides not to work on dip - which is fixed by a small bang on the headlight, haha, haven't had a chance to look at it, and it doesn't happen very often anyway! Hope this helps! Kerry.

I can't remember exactly, was nearly a year ago! Mine were brand new and came with no instructions. Yea i just 'spliced them into the factory wires using clips. You can get these little blue clips from dick smith (i have no idea what they are called) But you use them and then there is no need to cut any wires at all - they clip around you originals wires. There are 4 wires (can't remember colours) but 1 is for parks, 1 is for dip, 1 is for full and the last is either positive or negative (someone correct me!) but basicly you need to work out with a meter whch one is for parks and which is the 'neutral/power' then wire into those two accordingly. If your unsure just put the headlights in - you'll have dip and full lights with the factory plugs, and get an auto sparky or someone with a small amount of elec knowledge to wire in the angels. I'll try adn check colours of wires tonight for you - however they may be different from car to car....???
-
i put a set in my coupe and also a set in my mums wagon. they are pretty easy to do, the oem headlights come out easy as - few bolts and retaining clip for indicator. on both sets i found the left side (looking at the front of the car) was a pain to get in both times. No idea why! Then just plug into factory plugs. the black and red wires are for the angel eyes (halo rings) i wired mine and mums into the park lights. if you have two sets of red and black on each light 1 will be for halos and the other for an led light in the lower middle of headlight. hope this helps!
-
Have ordered mine!! Can't wait to see them in the flesh and fit them!! Thanks Wayne, you've been great to deal with! ...If anyone has access to a dyno i'm happy to use my car as a test tube baby to do a before and after? edit: Have got them for my 86' 325i e30 - however a set may be on the cards in the future for the e36!

Is it possible to fit a tech 2 kit to a prefl? or would it involve alot of work? I'm probably more curious than actually serious about buying it!
