flaws in the creation of the bimmers ... tsk tsk tsk, who thought of the collectors and cattys in the first place. jeeez my common sense is, two CLEAR pipes the whole way through >= good, stupid constricters which are eco efficient, go down to one pipe, resrtict performance, over all stupid things, = bad. clear long twin pipe good.

that certainly is good news, mines bin thru 1 head gasket in 135thou k,s but that was just a small leak anyway,

Twice this week, ive gone in, and twice ive been treated like I dont know ANYTHING, and over charged to the point where its laughable, needless to say i didnt get anything done there. First on monday I asked how much it would cost for them to quickly weld up pipe for me, simple job, wont take longer than 15 minutes, he said *because its a BMW its gonna cost $150* ugh.. what???? yea because its tricky, id like to know what exactly is tricky about it?? that was exoerience number one where i walked out and him on my ass trying to book me in, the second was today wen i went in for rotor skimming pricing, which btw is $35 per rotor, fair enough, but when I TRY and explain the situation he started telling me all of what it REALLY is and what it COULD be, when ive already found the problem and know whats wrong! insignificant to sum people, but i got really pissed off with these guys, so in future im never going to return to get anything done by them, ever. am i gonna get this everywhere i go cos of mah bimmer? if yes, however annoying, its a small price to pay End rant.

i think the merging and diverging business is stooopid whats the point? another problem is the way its connected, its got brackets, on both IN pipes so its bolt on bolt off, but on the exit end of the cattz, theyve diverged the pipe without the brackets, so i have 2 brackets entry and none on exit welded... so i cant just bolt on and off, otherwise i would be switching and swapping to get the right combo but noooo i dont have a welder so its annoying !

just go with another bimmer its a win win situation! lol

if ur doin the run out test, do it controlled, have a fuel tank sitting in ur boot for wen u run out, when exactly is my damn fuel light SUPPOSED to light up in my e30??? its crazy ive run REAL low sometimes and it still hasnt lit up,

Good headers, $600 is the starting rate, then install, no idea i've always done these things myself, im only guessing about $200 for install (thats them connecting to exhaust or if u bought whole new exhaust hooking it all up) and cams, you can either buy them already ground up etc, for again, id say $400 upwards. I always send mine away via a friends work for about $250 to get ground up, I tell them how lumpy etc I want them and they do it and send it back, then I install myself, but I dont think isntalling a cam would be very exspensive, $150 maybe?? So to recap, budget $800 for headers, budget $600 for cams, this is just what ive paid in previous cars, theres such a massive difference in ALL sorts of products, different quality, opinions, so its hard to say, but yea.. and ontop of that leave a couple hundred spare just in case in terms of reversability, cams can be switched back to standard, provided you didnt modify your standard one, and headers can be removed and manifold re-attached, but if you re-did entire exhaust system then manifold will affect tuning as pipes wont be the right fitting etc etc. As for installation and sourcing, there are plenty of people here who can point u in the right direction, and im sure some will also help you install (possibly for a price of course) or atleast tell u how to do it, both those mods are not hard mods to install at all, as it involves no modding yourself, you get the parts made and just stick em on,

it goes like this, twin, then merges into one, and then comes out in one, and merges back into two, why???!?!?! whats the point of a twin pipe exhaust if their gonna merge it into one half way, pointless ! The fact of the matter is, it doesent bother me that i have the cat, im not an enviromental terrorist out to cause global warming, all I want, is a NONE restricted exhaust system, maybe its just me, but merging it into one is a bit ridiculous, does anyone agree??? i COULD spread them to run them in parallel or is there such a thing as a twin coby??? or a twin resonator of such, sound doesent bother me, infact SOME sound is nice, but i dont want an "empty tin can" type sound if u know what I mean, that sort of empty rattle, I like the low rumble of my 6, the only thing i dont like, is the catty rattling away underneath because its stuffed, note to those wwho would know, I have a twin in and twin out ansa exhaust, this obviously aint stock, and is more beefy than stock, having said that does anyone have any ideas how it would sound with the cat removed now knowing what exhaust i have?? (sorry to repeat the question, totally forgot to mention exhaust) or does it not matter? Cheers.

-
but the pipes are quite close together, any ideas on that??? theres a small clearance between the two, and last I recall is that their alot wider than standard piping.
-
sweet as, thats exactly what I thought, where abouts can one get ur hands on a coby ??? second hand one would be fine and also, what about preventing the merge into one pipe as its losing hp??
-
let me know what the sealant sh*t does, cos im about to pull my diff apart, so tell me if u get any leakage.
-
I made a new topic about it so that people know what im on about, as I didnt know the name before, its to do with the catalytic converter again, now I have a question for anyone whos just removed theirs, on any car really, and stuck pipe in instead, Ive been told that it will sound like total sh*t, but Ive also been told the complete opposite, has anyone had any experience with this??? What does it sound like after its been removed?? car in question is an 88 e30 320i.. so twin exhausts, help would be appreciated. Cheers.
