Thanks for suggesting my car Really depends what he is looking for, some people can't stand the idea of spending 20k+ on a car that is 14 years old... However, if it's performance he is after I doubt he will be able to beat an E36 M3 with that budget. I would also suggest he considers this one, I know I had my eye on it for a while! http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=196339448

RA1's are more of a "wet" tyre from what I have read. I got a set of r888's, many good review on youtube and they seem to be the "bees knees" when it comes to road legal track tires. I think they are the compulsory tire for the e30 series?? They are not cheap though, I got my set (235/45/17 x4) for $1200 and that was mates rates. Brilliant grip, managed to shave 2 seconds off my best lap time with these. No idea about mileage, however they won't last as long as your average road tire as the compound is much softer.

Took the car to the track the other day to give the new r888's a good bash and I am very pleased with the results. Managed a 1:46.7 pass around Ruapuna which is a good 2 and a bit seconds faster than I have ever gone so can't complain. They do wear out pretty fast though, seems like I will only get 3 maybe 4 more track days out of them if I am lucky and they certainly not cheap!

Good luck man, she is a beaut.

Bloody hot today here ay man!

Nah, BBS's were too f**king hard to find! Plus I use them on the track Don't think I will part with any of them just yet.
-
lol, don't worry I still have them. In fact, I just bought a set of R888 semi slicks for them so will be back to the CH's once they arrive. Can't wait to tackle those corners with the new rubber! Hopefully improve on my lap times

Was lucky enough to convince my good mate Victor to take us out again and shoot a few. Cheers Vic!
-
lol, doh. Of course, no idea why I read that as 81... Righto, thats sorted then.
-
Hmm BBS says "81/2J" not sure what thats supposed to mean... I measured "bead to bead" on the stock mags and it's 21.5 cm approx 8.5 inch? So seems like I could be in the clear.
-
hmm, will check it out. Cheers!

I am thinking of getting some race slicks for the track but they require a minimum of 8" width mags. My question is how can I determine what width my mags are? I have two sets, one set is the factory E36 M3 mags and another are the 17" BBS CH's. I have looked at both and could not find any numbers resembling mag width anywhere, if someone could enlighten me I would be very much appreciative!

lol, yeh we did a bit of a road trip to Ashburton and back. Cheers man

Looking good man! some front shots?

So, let me get this right You think a pink, racing striped E36 with a big f%^$ off backwards ///M badge on the bonnet is OK... but you can't stand eye lids because if it was meant to be that way it would be that way? Sorry I just had to take that stab But seriously, "the point" (in my opinion anyhow) is that with angel eyes the top parts of the halos don't look right as thats where the light sources are so they are a fair bit brighter than the rest. The eye brows cover this "imperfection" not to mention gives that "aggresive/stoned" appearance.

Big old belt sander? I remember using one of those back in high school tech for a similar purpose.
-
Yep, agreed.

Mmm, not a fan of either but the straight look definitely looks better imo. Mine arrived last week so I will look into fabricating you a set.
-
True, no idea where to start looking with regards to the big brake kit... Brand new is just loopy money! Definitely would be nice though. Next time you see me stop me and say hi !

I am just saying, it was not out of rebellion or whatever... I honestly did not feel or notice that I was over the limit... And no, I never get warnings in my car. Cops just love to slap me with everything they got when they see the "BMW / M3" badge... Ok, ok maaybe the plate has something to do with it too lol. Anyhow, I think I will be investing in a V1 once I get my license back so it keeps me in check while I am on the road.

Actually, NZ road laws are some of the most ridiculous I have come across... 100 demerit points over the duration of 2 bloody years!... To put this in perspective you get like 30-40 points for 20km over the speed limit. In my car 70km comes up faster than I can blink (and 99.99% of the time I don't even notice it and am driving completely mallow) I mean hell it's like the 1/100'th of my speedo! Like the day I lost my license for example... I got caught doing 71 in 50k zone, sweet as I am pissed off yeh but I deserved it sure. So I drive off, honest to god not wanting to speed then ANOTHER cop stops me within 1 minute as I was doing 61 before I knew it... I show him my ticket that I just got and he laughed and wrote me up another one. Not to mention that they give stupid demerit pionts for things like loud exhausts (up to 40!!)... Not that I have one or anything as I hate shitty loud mufflers. Thing is I am simply slipping up with no real intention of speeding. I have never pulled up for stupid excessive speeding where it would serve me right to lose my license. 2 years and 100 demerit points (with very harsh point system) is just BS... especially when you have half decent machine. Punish the real speedsters not the slip ups!

New rotors to be installed this weekend ! Hopefully give the center a fresh lick of pain before I slap them on.
-
Hmm, highly doubt they are allowed to do that... unless they can somehow be 100% sure that it was you driving it??
