  1. Go here and read this, basically you use iTunes to upgrade iPhone OS4
  2. Finally got a chance and some daylight to swap the battery from the 540i into the 530i = good news is that the car started fine. Tested the battery from the 530i on a load tester and the needle fell well into the BAD setting ! - Looks like a warranty replecement, as battery is less then 12mths old, and has a 3yr warranty.
  3. One that needs Love ......
  4. My 530i refused to start yesterday ! Drove home at 11.30pm Saturday night, no issues - parked in garage, lights OFF, doors shut etc. Tried to start car Sunday afternoon - no start --- strange thing was that the headlights flickered wildly, even though they were turned off, and lots of strange noises behind the dash ( relays? ) Would low voltage cause the headlights to flash etc / confused controller ?? I guess the battery is flat / low? But as it is one of theose Calcium ones, how do I charge it ? I am gonna swap the battery from the 540i into the 530i to make sure it is just the battery . If the Alternator was not charging, would I get more warning than this ?? No other problems at all until this. Cheers
  5. SOLVED !!!!!! Thanks to sammcj and his mate Ross ...... Turns out despite Jeff Grays assuring me they has got me the correct key, my car is IR not RF !! Paired the key for my 540i which is IR and it works 100% !!! Big email to Service Manager at Grays later, I have the correct key in transit at no extra charge ( as well it should be, as they have already stung me for TWO WRONG KEYS ) I guess the answer here is not to trust the dealer - do the research yourself first, as their manufacturers database is obviously not perfect - seems strange to me - surely Germany would record all spec against the VIN ?? Oh well, all's well that ends well --- Bimmersport is an awesome thing !!
  6. Had same thing on my E39 - got a new pump, easy enough to fit - take drivers side front wheel off and the pump is on the bottle under the inner plastic guard cover. That was on my 540i ,, now my 530i has broken the pump for the intensive clean, so that needs done too
  7. My 2003 530I Touring needs to go to Jeff Grays to be plugged into the BMW computer to try and diagnose the non-operational remote locking. Since the car is Ex Japan with 145 000 ks on it, I wondered if I should get them to change the 'lifetime' trans fluid while they have it ? Car is a M54 with A5S 325Z tranny Should I let Grays do the fluid change, or am I better to go to a Transmission Specialist? Is it necessary to hook the car to the BMW system to reset / clear codes etc, therefore I am better to get Grays to do the whole job? Your thoughts would be appreciated, thanks.

  10. Lord Vader, your car is ready ................
  11. I put a SuperCharge Gold MF88 in mine 12 months ago - no problems. 3 year warranty on them too. Yellow pages search came up with 0800 188 122 ring them and ask for dealer in your area.
  12. Continentals and not sure of Ks as only had the car a couple of months - they were on it when purchased. The 2mm 'estimate' but WOF inspector does seem low - the groves are still quite deep to my eye.
  13. Just took the E39 530i Touring for a WOF Passed OK, but inspector said all tyres were wearing on inner shoulders - especially the front drivers side. When I went in the pay, the office worker spotted the notes and said ' Yea we see that a lot with BMWs' so .... Is it worth me getting an alignment done, or is the office worker correct - just the way they are ? Tyres listed by WOF inspector as 2mm front 4mm rear , so should I just wait till I fit a new set ? Cheers
  14. They are just velcroed on - I would think they would get stolen ?? For $700 could you get a vinyl sticker from signwritter ??
  15. Gets cheaper if you by more than one - get a couple and throe the other on Trademe !
  16. Ebay wins Ebay That way you can keep your OEM ones to return to stock if ever required.

  21. I too have just fitted a DICE from Richard to my E39 Touring The first unit had some issues, and Richard replaced it no worries! 2nd unit works great. So easy to install: 1. Disconnect Car Battery 2. Locate and disconnect the two plugs to the CD Changer ( I took changer right out and left it out ) 3. Run cable to front of car 4. Find a suitable place for the DICE box ( mine is just in the glovebox at present ) 5. Plug cable from DICE box to ipod 6. Reconnect Car battery 7. Program DICE features, such as where to view song Text etc ( Goto DICE website for manual ) Edit for spelling mistakes !
  22. I would find this hard to believe - economy of scale dictates that would actually costs more to do, not save any money. I would say that is a 'NZ New Only' car dealer making up reasons why his cars are more expensive ? !!
  23. Yes, I drooled on one at a BMW display at the O2 centre in London - I think the NZ $250K pricetag slows the sales somewhat ?? It seems people in that bracket tend to go for SUVs ( Cayenne, Q7 etc )
