Indeed... and some would argue they are better than a 325 man, an argument that I can see reason in as they are lighter over the front and no doubt more fuel efficient, and apparently brake better. What do you reckon... would a 318is be more economical that a 316i m40b16?

Heres the best E30 tip ever: When you go to lift the bonnet, MAKE SURE someone holds it up for you. Otherwise youl bend over and itl fall on your head/back which isnt fun. This is because the bonnet shock will be stuffed. They all are. gl!

Rear parcel tray - make sure it hasnt been touched Rust - Sunroof, boot (lift up the trims and have a look, particularly down the sides), floor pans (you can lift up the edge of the carpet at the back seat and have a little look), firewall, I'm sure there are more usual spots. Engine ticking - its normal, a lot of e30 engines do it. Steering play - steering can wear out 20 years. Could be the rack (2nd hand replacement $100), or tie rod ends, or universal joint on the steering column. Gearbox - They seem to hold up alright, various bushes can wear out and make shifting sloppy apparently. Thats all I can think of off the top of my head. There was a good thread on the zone but cant find it just now.

I have the same prob, oil on asphalt. What bravo said with the degreaser didn't do a lot (tried 2 different types), I mean when you hose it off you get rainbows but no matter how much you do it theres always some left :| Keen to see how you get on. I might try some baking soda
