Where can I get coilovers or drift spec suspension??
Apex replied to kish's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
H&R do a kit. -
Thanks guys! It’s coming along nicely. I told myself the engine would be first but easily accessible mods keep popping up! I went for KYB ($500 +GST-Set) as it was believe it or not cheaper than the Monroe equivalent and KYB have done me well in the past, the Vogtlands seem to be good, haven’t taken it threw any of my favourite B roads yet so time will tell. It gets more attention than the Sri-T hahaha! I wont say what TTEETT means as it blasphemy on a BMW, im going to get some new plates when I have finished a few other bits and bobs. Next step is a sound system upgrade that is mostly sorted thanks to my mate Jamie at Pro-Custom installs, he is a retailer of the Kicker brand. Im a bit lost when It comes to finding the right looking head deck for it as they all stick out (literally as its so high up in the dash and doest sit flush like factory) like the dogs bolocks with chrome and silver, Alpine looks the go as it has full I-Pod control and is black.

After a weekend club cruise it came to my attention that the wagon wasent cutting the mustered up against some newer cars so I headed down to my suspension guy to get a few things sorted. He fitted new the new VOGTLAND springs I purchased from Keith at Suspension Progress (sponsor) , a new set of shocks and fitted a few new bushes that were in dire need of repair including the rear sway bar mounts that were actually disconnected on one side. It drives a hell of a lot better now leaving the tires the weakest link. A couple of pictures. Thanks.

Very Cool! Where are you based? Apparently Tien are the drift suspension specialist..or so there marketing team would have us believe. -
How did you do that?? Im impressed Good luck with the M3 J Tomo, Id just plug it into a fault scanner, that will tell you if all is working properly, including vanos. Shame you’re not in my neck of the woods as I have a mate with one.

Nice combo right there..took me a few photo’s to note it was running 6 intake tracks.

Have to agree there, it seems some German styling companies are getting a tad adventuress. They shouldn’t, they are German and should stick to engineering.

Is that a real Hulme/Jones car? Cool, I had a poster of that car my wall as a kid!

Mean, I have just found this tread! My bro and I were up front in the mosh pit for Shehad and Rage too, must have been a few BimmerSport members in that mosh! Was a hard (5 and a bit hours) wait though, standing threw Beorka was punishing! RAGE FTW.

I always as a rough guess just convert wheel KW to BHP to get a rough flywheel figure. Different cars loose different amounts though I mean my car would put out say 65-70kw at the wheels, so 67is 90hp. So 90 odd KW at the fly. No?

190bhp to move how much weight??
-
Got anything for the Touring yet mate?? Graham
-
Yea I have seen it round too, I think there is a place in Takanini that does Air-Bag installs.. That car would probably be slower than my 1986 2E1.3 corolla that couldn’t pull the skin of my old ladies custard! Lol Spotted your car around quite a bit to mate!
-
Jeepers, 340bhp that’s 75bhp more than stock, well done. Im not sure what the Touring weighs but it feels like it has 75bhp per tone Astra= 120.5BHP per litre 188.32 per tonne

By BEAMS you mean 4 cylinder?? Both Altezza’s RS/AS have BEAMS, the 3G-GE motors are overrated, anyone who has driven one will know what I mean, they have nothing unless you’re in there peek rev range witch is useless, plus they sound like a FXGT. Ideally you want a 1/2JZ-GTE powered Altezza

Cheers mate, im not overly keen on the 3.5 as it would IMHO mess with the cars weight balance and essentially make it handle funny, I like the idea of 50/50. Hi Ray, I know you told me a M30 ECU will run it but I can’t find any information to support this, it’s not that I doubt you it’s just a case of one bitten twice shy, I have been feed a crock of garks on previous modifying endeavours and been out of car and out of pocket for a couple of months. How well would it run it? Like factory? I like things perfect and im not keen to play/pay the trial and error game ever again. Thanks for all your help guys, I’ll see what I can dig up. PS: TTEETT Mk1. One blown motor, two ECU’s and nearly 10 grand (on top of the huge price that Altezza’s cost 6 years ago) out of pocket! Hence once bitten twice shy. It ran like sh*t and in the end didn’t have bugger all power over stock. Research FTW

Good stuff, the parts would be the cheap part for me, labour being the killer. A M20b-25 could be found for under a grand easy, and it would only take a day to install... considerably cheaper than building, fitting and tuning a 2.7.

Thanks. I will start researching the 2.5 and go from there, maybe like you say go for something completely different down the track.
