  1. Yes it will go in, no the looms are differant, Auto or manual??, Pre face lift or later??

Have done this to a 323i, am running the old l jet ignition at the moment, Used a pre face lift motor, and 323 gearbox. So had no problem with the sensors on the gearbox, early 325 motor.

Have done seen one local to me wellington. that has the same done, 320 to 325, and had the loom spliced together. Not that hard to do.

If you decide to do this, pm me and i can give you the things to watch out for.

  2. Um i Quailify as older member,.....

I dont use state since having LARGE debate with them over values.

For the three older cars, 2 daimlers and 323i race car, i use Mark Joblin in Hamilton. Last renewal was for 780.00 for 3 cars, Quite low excess on damage Limited mileage, but that can be sorted with them as they prefer to deal with classic and "differant" cars as they tend to be looked after.

The newer car, e46 328i is covered by BNZ finance allong with the houses and contents, About 450.00 per year, no limits, 750.00 excess, agreed value on all cars.

Hope this helps, call me Martyyn if you want more info.

  5. Half way was the normal mark for most of my e30's

So i dont think thats high!

    +

    help! (1988 320i )

Its been running a little over the half way mark since i replaced the thermostat.... before was too far under..

Could it be the fan for the radiator not going enough or something, i really dont know, will take it in this week to get a look at ( 2nd time for the engine in 3 years! - so i guess something had to happen )

any other ideas, as my heater was leaking so i bypassed it, until i have fixed that, but was getting hot before it started leaking,

it seems to be using more oil too.

    Thanks

  6. Hey Hartage, what year was the UK import 325i?... Sold my M325i UK import with (from memory) 195,000 miles on it, and still saw it driving around years after that. Ran like a dream too.

The 325i was white 4 door, been smashed in right front and rear. Black interior, m tech 1 steering wheel, eletric front manual rear windows, motor still runs fine.

Cant remember what the plate was, came from Turners damaged auction.

  7. That does not always follow with BMW m20's. Had a 1990 320 with the double valve springs, Jap import, auto.

carl your head at my place is 85 323 head, with single springs, i think that most of the last motors, and motronic m20's had improved valve springs.

Would like to know if there is a way of telling from the numbers on the heads.

    <_<

The 731 head is for the 320 nd 323 M20 engines, the double valve sprung heads came on the 85 323i heads, 149hp as opposed to 139hp and slightly lumper, not heard of a 320i head having the double springs.

Still, being a saffa import anything is possible, they've got that crazy dutch gene in them
