  1. Hi Gareth, I have a m20b20 engine from a 84 e30. Just swapped it out for an b23. Want to check it out?

    Air con parts available?
  5. Hi, my e32 has a coolant leak and I believe it is the heater radiator. The reason being is that when it is first turned on you can smell coolant. Would I be correct in assuming this is the culprit and can I close off the coolant flow to the heater until it can be replaced? My next step would be taking it to a radiator specialist to get pressure tested in case it is not the heater. Anyone had a similar issue before and have some advice?
  6. Hey Lucas, What is a flir unit? And what model is it for?
  7. Not easy for them to wriggle out of it with evidence like that!! Unlike potholes damaging wheels when multiple complaints are needed.
  8. Someone may be able to confirm but I am sure you can only buy new ABS shafts and bearing/hubs but that they still fit non ABS with no issues. I am sure when I replaced the front hub and bearing it was an ABS.
  9. Replaced fuel filter and all seems ok. What came out of the old one seemed watery.
  10. That's not cool. I have some fuel pumps sitting around. 2x e28 pumps. Will take it out and see what I find. If I run it out of the car it should be ok as long as it is pumping fuel? What should I be listen/ looking for? I found the fuel filter, underneath rear of car on driver side, but you cant really see anything from outside or take it apart. Probably just a good time to replace it, they don't cost much anyway. Looking at bmwfans it uses the same filter as a lot of bmw's including e30's. Cheers for responses.
  11. Hi all. So was sitting low on fuel coming home from work on Friday, OBC said 20k or less left. Idle started running rough while sitting at the lights, nearly home. Got to the petrol station without running out.. But today the power was not consistently there it will surge like it is lean on fuel then gets a better flow and revs up. I was thinking that something may be blocked? Fuel filter, pump. Where's the best place to start with this? Appreciate any advise or knowledge on these symptoms. Cheers, Adam
  12. Good luck Looks likes someone's daily 318i... no love and less style... aftermarket lights, really? Paint it BLACK.
  13. Have you removed the drivers side dash panel under steering wheel. Was there a switch on the panel that you also removed? This is common in an e28 and when you unplug the switch all windows will stop working. Maybe a similar switch...?
  14. Did you get quotes from someone to do the job for you? In my mind if you already had the tools or had free access to said tools then the diy option might be for you. Otherwise I would recommend seeking professional help... Was this a 'to good to be true' buy and now you wondering if the money paid will be money gained upon selling. On the other hand if this is the car for you and it will look great once finished why not spend the money and get it done right first time? Post some pictures.

    FS: 1987 M325i

Can you provide any photos of what the major issues are? Your potential buyer will want to see for themselves the damage and estimate the cost involved to repair. Just a thought after looking at your TM listing.
  16. I will try that, thanks. I have read they may learn the information and apply that until new data comes through? Brent, I have eliminated all potential vacumm leak areas, every seal is new. How do you clean a sticky ICV? I will try replacing the air flow meter with the parts one, an 320i one wont be too different?
  17. Hi all, 1986 325i Ok so I am now unsure what to replace or how to diagnose the issue. When I start the car the idle will rise and fall for 30secs however will then idle normally. I have replaced the old hoses, intake boot etc. Replaced the intake and exhaust manifold gaskets, oil return o-rings. Any parts i could interchange to eliminate the culprit? I have 320i parts. Would a diagnostic check at BMW tell me anything?

    It's Time

I have used RO Jones. They provide a broken down quote (parts, paint, hours, etc), have curtesy cars and they are professional.
  19. Replace exhaust gaskets used Self Locking Nuts, Copper Plated.
  20. Hey, Thanks Michael I will ask my usual supplier, see if they can match the price. Any bimmersporter with a e32 wreck? Postage may be an issue however my heater unit is broken and would be good to have a complete unit. Anyone done the switch from r12 to r134a coolant?
  21. I have seat belts, you have a pfl sedan or coupe?
  22. Removed the m30 from e30 project car. Intend to replace with 84 m20b20 engine with 87 m20b20 intake and electrics. Any reason this wouldn't work? Intend to turn it back into a reliable daily to give to a family member.
  23. These are avalible new and not big $$. Have purchased both before.
  24. Edit... just read that it is an e36, similar to an e30? Be careful when removing the handbrake cable, you can ruin the flexible line. As the flexible line connects to a steel tube which can be stuck due to age, rust etc. You may need some grips to twist the connection between the flexible line and steel tube to loosen it up before pulling it out. The flexible line has a steel joint which sits inside the steel tube, do not twist the flexible line itself. Removing Axle: You should not need a hammer to remove the axles... I pulled one out of an e30 the other day, just pulled on it. You just need a 30mm socket and a long long bar or section of steel tube for undoing the nut. Getting the locking washer out was interesting, I used a sharpened steel rod, punch through the washer and pry it out.
  25. Looks like an e30. Not as rooted as I thought, nothing a good clean wont sort out. Luxorbeige?
