Recently my 325i auto 1986 got hit in the side, insurance has decided it is a write off, and I have no money to repair, so its up for sale either parts make an offer or 1700 ono for whole wreck. Would prefer to sell as whole wreck, so will wait a couple days and see if any takers for the whole thing sorry. As id prefer to sell as a whole, seeing as im moving in a month or so and dont want to be left with an immovable shell, and as far as I know, these wheels are quite rare, Im gonna say about 1000 ono i guess (or whoever makes the best offer) for the wheels with the tires, the tires are useless to me as I have no car now, so tires will come with them. Unfortunately one of the badges is missing, and one is a bit munted, but the other two are nice. Ill see if I can get someone to take the whole thing before answering PM's about individual parts sorry. Thanks for bearing with me, Just need to try and get enough together for some new transport for me. Engine still runs, has a bit of a vacuum leak it seems, car still drives but no wof/rego. Radiator leaks and the impact has slightly damaged power steering at full lock. Failed wof on front left shock blown, rear springs not captive. Has the 15x7 Hartge Rims, with toyo tires on the front, and supercat tires on the back, both have HEAPS of tread left. Lowering springs as well, the guy I bought them off reckoned they were H&R but i have a feeling theyre Jamex Nearly complete toolkit, only missing the screwdriver, but has a random one in there. A few spares ie Ignition Coil, Fuel Pump No headunit/speakers Old days of glory: Now:

my fuel gauge needle flies around when you drive it hard over bumps etc... then just hit the dash and the needle goes back to empty. where it should be haha

Might have to try checking up behind the stereo, make sure everything behind there is still connected if you were up behind the glovebox, has happened to me, cos the wires all run through there for it

Before I read any of the other posts, I thought that it looked like an extra exhaust tip had been welded to the back of the muffler to make it look like a twin, but the valve thingy makes more sense haha...

Mines done it twice in the last 2 days now...getting kind of annoying now

They couldnt figure out what it was after 3 hours, and had to call out "an auto electrician specialist" is what I was told on the phone, so Im guessing thats where at least half of the 300 went. I very much hope that its the ECU after that much diagnosing.
-
The 330 dollars that it took for them just to figure out what was wrong...so basically nothing to show for it. the 400 was ON TOP of the 330, the 400 is what they wanted for the ECU itself... The really gritting thing is that the ECU was what I was going to throw at it next in the hopes of fixing it but decided it might end up cheaper to go to a mechanic rather than endlessly throwing parts at it and discovering that it was a buggered wire... So yeah, think Ill take my toolbox with me and just swap the ecu in their carpark myself, dont know how happy theyll be about that, and if they got it wrong and its not that, dont know if ill have a comeback on it.

yeah thats what I thought, thanks for that. Unfortunately I will have to do it there as they are withholding the car until I have paid them the full amount

e30 would not start, tried a few things, eventually gave up and got it towed to a mechanic. 330 dollars for them to find out that it was the ECU, they wanted 400 for a replacement one so I told them id sort one. Now they reckon its gonna be another 60 bucks for them to put it in as well. As far as I know, its a pretty easy job to swap the ECU out, shouldnt take more than 10-15 mins?

Wanting to buy a m20b25 prefacelift intake boot, would prefer local to palmerston north but will probably just have to deal with shipping. Thanks

I wish I could do some of this stuff haha, but I get about 4 weeks of holidays a year, and I really do need the holiday when they come around haha. Doing Bachelor of Aviation at massey in palmy, My student loan is currently at about 38k, for the first year of study, and Im just starting second year now...damn I hope I get a good job after I graduate haha...

yeah mine was an absolute a**hole to lower, what I ended up having to do, was taking the jack, and jacking the bottom of the strut or the tie rod up, compressing the spring etc, and putting heaps of force onto the bit that sits in the hole, that should hold it tight enough for you to do the nut up. if not, jack it a bit higher until it does.

hey, Im not retarded haha. Ill take photos maybe friday, im busy all day tomorrow, so there probably wont be any light, but well see... Its been like it for ages, I havent bothered asking about it though, it did make replacing the external fuel pump rather difficult with nowhere to really jackstand it at the back... It used to be fine, but i noticed it wasnt about a week after the guy at mag and tire diff jacked it to replace the back tires
-
When you try and jack up the rear of the car under the crossmember, if you put the jackstand on the corssmember then let the jack down, the crossmember stays up and the body of the car just comes down while the crossmember rises up into the underside of the car.... Any idea whats wrong with it? Thanks

I think they have about 3-6 months reserves here, so essentially theyre selling the 3 month old priced fuel for new priced fuel. bastards.

just go to placemakers or anything like that, thats where i got mine for my indicators etc. its called like super lacquer or something, and it dries clear black... be warned, if you do two coats its solid black. like solid solid black and u cant see anything through it. but one coat is all good.
-
sounds like you wired the power to the brake switch or something similar haha

HT lead replacement is an upgrade worth the money?
Venatus replied to tcbaurpower's topic in Maintenance
Haha replacing mine with just oem ones made a HUGE difference. when I pulled one of the leads off the new dizzy cap all this green powder went everywhere. the entire contact had corroded to nothing but green powder, and a different one at the spark plug end the hard long bit was snapped in the middle... so I wonder how many cylinders itd been runnin on. -
Dunno if this has been seen before or not, but thought Id post it just in case haha

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=159705305 Is it just me or are those "new accounts" rather suspicious... Kind of similar names to the owners...looks like hes bumping up the price a bit himself...ie going from 230 to 400 etc etc.... Jst thought it was a bit weird, hopefully its not anyone on here thats gonna bust me out for saying that haha.

looks like mine too, 325i with an auto box
-
How much do new gaskets go for? I probably should do this as well
-
I suppose I wont mention names, but a someone I used to know is one of those morons in the CBD apartments with laser pointers. Ironically enough they work for airnz and basically their weekend consists of e/weed and laser pointering stuff...Quite glad I dont really know them now
-
Id say the kind of people that would do that are the kind of little shits that throw gigantic rocks at cars off bridges... Although id assume a laser with that kind of power should really be in the price range of those types;;;

thats a pretty cool read, gives me a little more insight onto how my ecu works, thanks
