  1. Who's the head monkey in charge of the clean up from day one? Fire his ass ASAP, in fact boot him out of the country for being an epic fail. What the bleep happened to "can do". Screw OSH etc, use commonsense and fix the bleeping problem quick. Then once its been dealt with, FINE the bejebus out of the idiots who caused it. I grew up in the BOP, Moved from ohope/whakatane/the mount/tauranga. Hopefully it doesnt turn into a *total* balls up due to red tape and people unable to take decisive action for fear of screwing up right before an election. I have absolutely no experience with salvage big ass ships, but I can still think of UMPTEEN different ways of handling it quickly. There are plenty of heavy lift heli's in the south pacific, They shouldve been there from hour one lifting containers off it.
  2. That is one crazy low liability I have 10 million liability cover while flying RC planes!
  3. How does an RE11 compare to a re050?
  4. Have they said how the dumb shits hit the reef yet? How does that even happen in 2011? I hope they fine the hell out of em, as well as make them pay for the damage to tangrang and the mount.

    WRX STi's

Bought a tidy white 98 wagon with 116k on the clock, not an Sti sadly, but getting a stock un fuct with one was higher on the list for me than going fast (I hate the noise subaru's make with big cannon exhausts too!). its cranking 160psi on the front two, 158psi on the back, and looks damn near new. Have receipts for cambelt/waterpump/idlers/rocker cover gaskets/plugs and a service came to $1200 for the lot, not too bad. Hopefully it last long enough to build the E30 wagon
  6. Word is the new 002 are as good as RE001's, but with better wet performance. Any one got em? Can someone point me at a central auckland tyre place who can hook a honky up with a set of them at a sharp price, or possibly RE11's in a 205/50/16

    MR2

Yeh, enzo fella is a mate being a d*ck Getting heaps of watchers, hopefully it sells or it'll have to be parked on the road until it does. It costs me $60 a month for 5k insured, and uses damn near half the gas of the M50'd e30 on the run to work everyday, without being as snot boring to drive as your average corolla etc. $100 would fix the little issues its got, slap some cheap sticky tyres on it and your away.

    MR2

Yeh, I had a look at the competition before pricing it Its the cheapest manual f/l on tardme, its really not in a too bad a condition, just that black makes the blemishes stand out, ive seen far worse ones driving around. Ive also listed all its niggly problems, im sure half the others have the same faults but dont mention them. Dunno if that was wise!
  9. And this is awesome too

    MR2

My NA MR2's up for sale, was bought as a "gap filler" to get to work when my E30 died. Its in pretty good condition, a few cheap fixes would make it 100%. These things get a lot of grief about being girly as, and they probably are, but theyre seriously good cheap fun to drive. Find a nice twisty road and I dont think you'd find much else that'll make you grin so much for so little $. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=413861206 If you make me a firm offer before anyone bids, over 2200, Ill take it. I paid more 2months ago for it, in worse condition, but it's gotta go

    WRX STi's

I am learning this the hard way. The reason for the $1500 theft excess (with dual immobilisers) has been proven!

    WRX STi's

The blue Sti one is out of the question for the moment, dont ask, terrible luck. Pity as looked like the only original one with a decent service history. After a stock standard hasnt been f**ked with wagon, which counts the trick centre diff out as it was only on the TypeR coupes. Have booked a normal 98 wrx wagon in to be inspected. If it comes back clean ill probably get it, it looks like new and has silly low k's on it and is again totally standard. Pity so many muppets drive/steal WRX's, wreck them for everyone else

    E30 Touring

Whats out there? Ideally, MINT, well looked after 325 manual. No rust. But lower spec'd E30's would also be considered as long as theyre minters. There was a white 1988 on tardme for awhile seems to have gone now though, is it still out there?, I wouldnt mind having a look at it in person if its still for sale. No BS Cash buyer, but am after the right car (if it exists )

    WRX STi's

Aparently its normal for them to smoke initially after a few days sitting, oil seep into the bores made worse by the forged internals. Any idea if this is true? Its got service history from http://www.mapc.co.nz/ since it was imported, 5k oil changes and all the other work. Hopefully the it passes the check's without anything major showing up, am keen to drive it after reading about em!. 0-100 in 5seconds sounds fun

    WRX STi's

Talking to a subaru guru last night, he thinks its probably a good buy. I was looking at some low k's (100k) 98-99 WRX hatch/wagon's, and he'd put money on a well maintained Sti being more reliable than an unknown lower k's wrx. Aparently the drivetrains in the Sti's are much more bulletproof than the WRX's. Aparently if you miss an oil change or spread one out, youve got a good chance of destroying it next time you change the oil. They like to sludge oil, and if you clear the sludge out with fresh oil you get bad stuff happening. Not keen on the newer versions, fugly (not that any wrx is pretty!), and they got much heavier. Insurance is barely anymore than the bimmer! Crazy. Over 25 and a clean driving history. Ill wait to see what the VTNZ/AA say
  16. Anyone know WRX's? Whatya think of this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=410298638 ? K's are highish, but it looks to have been well looked after, am tempted pending an AA/VTNZ check..

    HB Chris (Jacko)

Chur. Am in Miami at the moment, saw a new B7 doing ~100mph up the freeway, followed by a semi doing the same! Screw the themeparks, driving here is way scarier!. Got me a rental dodge challenger to play with, 400hp of bi-winning
  19. Rapido plate on a e36 100m from my house in onehunga And an E36 coupe in sandringham, with shark grill vents glued to the doors.... Too keep the electric window motors cool...
  20. ^ +1, just buy a 328. IF you do want to do it, either too 1UZ or M52, Tim a TTT auto can give you an idea on price. Done umpteen lexus v8 conversions to many different cars, email ttt [email protected] <- take out the space.

  22. You'll want to bolt your engine to the box, and then install the whole lot as one, be a nightmare to to do them seperately. Not sure about the 240 box and linkages, If the angle doenst change there wont be any problem, it'll be evident when you bolt it in anyway, and isnt hard to fix with and angle grinder and mig I cut the link in half, had one end on the stick, other on the box. Got someone in the car on the hoist holding the stick in neutral, had the box in neutral, one brave bugger holding both ends of the link lined up and zapped it with the mig. A couple of other hints before you do it - Ideally stick the engine in with the intake manifold off, the manifold gets VERY close to the heatercore fittings on the firewall, they require minor tweaking to fit. Doing it with the manifold on is no fun. The EASIEST way to wire up the radiator fan is to go pick up a davis craig thermoswitch kit for like $60 (repco supercheap etc), a pusher fan will set ya back $40. The thermoswitch is rated for 20A current, so you dont even need a relay, its just one wire (ideally with a fuse in it). Running the A/C fan setup can be troublesome, I gave up looking for the right fittings to get the BMW factory switches and stuff into, some places wanted stupid money for one of the aftermarket A/C install fittings. I wouldnt bother even looking into it when it only costs $100 to do it with new parts, that you can set exactly what temp you want it to turn on, and very little screwing around with rubbish parts from wreckers. As for a brake booster. 2000 renault clio is the way (you want one from a clio with plastic front gaurds), I found one at the renault/jag wreckers up north, theyre nice modern bosch booster( Unlike most golf etc boosters, which 25 years later are rusted heaps of sh*t), they bolt straight in, the onevalve is built in and even aims right at the fitting on the M50 manifold. Also have MUCH better brake feel than the stock E30 booster. When you go M50 hunting, make sure you get a good one with everything on it, ask for odometer numbers, warranties, compression checks etc. Pull the plastic cover off and have a look at the coils etc, pull the waterpump out and see what sort of condition the coolant was in. If something looks busted, get them to replace it then and there. If they arent willing supply the above, walk away and look elsewhere. Wreckers want way too much money for tired M50's. If your paying ~$1000-1500 for a ~20 year old engine, it had better be a good engine. Learn from my mistakes Dont forget stuff like a new o2 sensor (~600 from BMW nz, can be had MUCH cheaper overseas for the same one) new themostat/waterpump etc. Its a wise idea to put a small bleed hole in the top of the thermostat BTW, makes for MUCH easier bleeding of the coolant.
