Cool company, had no idea they made so much stuff in house.

Whatya think about the condition based maintenance thing? ~15k between oil changes seems crazy.
-
Yeah looks like just outside qtown and the Milford sound Rd.
-
Definitely needs more cowbell.

Fitting that would make it look different

Dropped the 130 off to Glenn at Botany Motor Works, service and box/diff fluids, they nailed it. The only finding being I need an LSD to solve the asymetric rear tyre wear (thats what im telling the wife anyway ) Shifts nicer already, guessing the BMW "lifetime" manual box fluid has well and truely broken down at 150k!

Heya, Weighing up putting an LSD in the 6 speed 130, has anyone tried one? any recommendations? The standard LSD upgrade option seems to be the Quaife unit, around $1000 euro+ p&p, into stock housing. Speedfactor NZ seem to have some Torsen units, ~$1.5kNZ, think they are RUF Technic Taiwanese units... Dunno the quality? Possibly is a WaveTrac option, cant find many details though. E90 M3 Diff may or may not fit, confusing, may have swap rear subframe. Any thoughts, itd be nice to be able to accelerate with traction/stability control off!

What a bellend.

Interesting Any idea on the history of it? I remember my Grandfather owning one (or 3, he hoarded stuff, had backyard full of cars/boats/washing machines...) and lived in Mokau for many many years (Takarei terrace) . Passed away years ago, but his "collection" wouldve likely been broken up around local community.

Hahahaha, im resisting urge to use four letter words in replies I guess the combo of Tardme and a WRX attracts the best of the best

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=948832187 Im getting hassled by dreamers at the moment, one guy who wants to swap the headlights and front bumper (plus some cash my way) If anyone knows someone who wants a good one, point em this way

Agreed, I did work experience for a year with a Toyota dealership, awesome opportunity and learnt a bunch. Have you rung up a local high school? One of the tech class teachers may be able to point you at someone suitable.

Hahhaha, just interesting device Glenn, I have no intentions of hacking my car. Interesting how open BMW left the control units on canbus etc to allow new software to be written by third parties.

Anyone played with one of these? Thoughts? http://www.mycarly.com/product/bmw-app/ Does some interesting things

State have been horrific for many years, back when I was a teenager, I had my skyline insured under my mothers policy, with me as a registered driver. Had a woopsie, rear end a crappy old galant. Skyline broke a headlight, Galant was written off. Insurance all went through fine. 1 month later, State sent me a letter saying they were taking me to court for insurance fraud, along with a bill for $8000. Much legal shenanigans later, I didnt pay, and am blacklisted from state insurance. Wouldnt touch them with a barge pole either. I used to work for a panel beater in Hamilton, they refused to do work for state insurance as state never paid what it actually cost to repair cars. FYI, Im insured through AMI, who gobbled up CLIC insurance (modfied cars), and they have been shweet as to deal with, home/contents & 3 cars, including old swapped engine coilovers etc E30, no complaints.

My old cars been on tardme for a week, cheap as at $5k reserve for quick sale. As of tonight im up to txt number 6 of low balling dreamers.

Looks like when the gaurd (and bonnet?) was resprayed they resprayed the spider webs at same time

Which getrag box is it? Mine just used original B23 drive train from gearbox (260) back, the shifter linkages will need to be butchered whatever you do due to the new angles the engine/box sit on.

^ This. Feel free to give me some money, ill find some nice seats, and stick labels on them saying they are made from purebred grain fed unicorns who freely roamed the prairies of venice. Id suggest figuring out a build plan for it first, and work out what ya going for. Its a bit of an odd ball car being LHD and not particularly high spec etc, spending silly money on it is just dumb, spending money on a non M3 E30 isnt exactly financially wise, spending money on a weird one is even less wise Either go period, and find some nice second hand M seats, get em reupholstered locally if it tickles your pickle, or find some period buckets. Another option would be going "ultimate bmw" and finding some late model BMW leather sports seats and getting custom rails made up for em etc. Why not turn it into a 333? Get an M30 and a proper gearbox, or find a later model 3.0 six and swap it over for a modern 333.
-
I dunno, I really liked the 17" Alpina clones on my E30 I have a Mtech E30 wheel in decent condition in my closet if your interested 333, but it looks like you already have bought that "improved" one End of the day, its your car do whatever you want. Just a personal request - No M3 badges or altezza tail lights

Took this thing for a B road blat this afternoon, with the windows down. Awesome. The N52 is a real pearl of an engine, makes just the right noises with BMW performance exhaust, without being loud. Loads of induction roar down low, and snarling exhaust up high Gearbox is heavy and notchy to start with, but the ratios are just right, and it pulls hard right to the redline, the actual in gear acceleration is definitely rapid enough to have some fun. Steering is tight, and car feels very agile. Ultimate driving machine... for when you need a hatchback Its even started to look less funny looking, some angles actually look good
