Not as bad as I expected QUBE, it rides nicer than my WRX with 205/50/16s Still no luxury sedan, but its not annoyingly harsh. KwS - Neither really, 19's are probably too big as well. At least they are easy to clean! I saw the price of a new set of them on ebay though, somebody paid a lot of money for them.....

Very cool, pimp interior. Im guessing a 740i would have been $140k new? And someone fixes it with a kebab skewer

2006 NZ New 130i Motorsport, 6 speed manual, 19" AC Schnitzer Type IV. Looks pretty good for 150k on the clock And a crazy large dog showing off his flying skills.

Cheers Breaker, I ended up just dealing to it a like a normal finish and it worked shweet as, bit of polishing and then wax, minta.

New toy has been treated with this stuff - http://www.tfgroup.co.nz/Articles/7.html Im guessing its pretty old now. Few swirl marks in the paint, gas station car wash maybe, nothing major, according the interwebs you'll never need to polish/wax car again, but it needs it - EDIT, actually, it was done 18 months ago Anyone know if the standard cut/polish compound (and wax) is OK to use on it?

More fun the barrel of Monkeys, is mint underneath too. Bargain.

Dealer isnt playing ball, even offered the asking price cash, if he threw in a 12 month mech warranty, no joy.. too many unknowns with no service history to blow that much cash. Any ideas on cars I should be looking at? I want a small wagon/largish hatch, thats practical and FUN to drive. Manual only, preferrable low ks, RWD or AWD, sub 20k. Am in no mad rush, but will go after the right vehicle! Ive considered 2007ish legacy GT-Bs, newer wrx (too heavy and soft compared to GF8 though..) , 3/5 series wagons (but they all seem to be 318s in manual...) , Caldina GT4s (all auto), Lexus/Altezza Gita (anemic 2.0 or 3.0 autos...) Hard work finding the perfect car haha I guess I really want a minter E30 touring...

Cheers Allan, had a good listen on cold start up, no noises. Will keep it in mind for the clutch change. No fault codes stored on ECU, but it may have been wiped (I should have generated some new ones during the "spirited" drive though!) Underside of it looks clean, no rust, not even particularly dirty! Will look into the guide pins, gearbox feels nice, bit notchy between gates maybe but nothing that feels broken. Ill give it a good service if the dealer accepts my offer, plugs, all the fluids and filters etc, hopefully black goo doesnt come out of the haldex! Yeh, Its not "fast", I think the current WRX would leave it behind (it'd be close though), but it does drive nicer and the cabin is a much nicer place to be than the sea of cheap rattly plastic! Its fast enough to have fun with, quick 6 speed box, and such noise Hopped out of car with grin on face, which is what actually matters! Any thoughts on the price? Hard to judge whats cheap/inflated/bargain

Yeah I agree, the interior of the Mk4s is way cooler than the Mk5s too, awesome seats, and it has a proper gearbox Lower costs than fixing dead DSG's too. Mk4 is 8s quicker around nurburgring than the DSG Mk5 BTW, VW didnt advertise that! slower on top gear test track and 0-100 though. I do like the way it drives, good fun and sounds porn. Under steers in the wet when you throw it at a corner, same as most stuff, was surprisingly neutral otherwise. Looks clean and tidy and looked after underneath as well.... Hmmm

Cheers, Ill check em out

Heya Guys, Looking at this thing - http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/volkswagen/auction-933404853.htm Just took for a test drive, it drives well, sounds cool too!, clutch feels very very light though. Has anyone driven one? Not to sure if thats just how they are or there is something going on with it. Any thoughts on what to look out for? Going to stick it on hoist tomorrow and check out its underside VASK Forum seems dead as doorknob :/ Cheers

Pick up in onehunga Water squirter resevoir (version without the headlight washers) PFL Tail light, LH I think (need to confirm), MINT (looks new) Rear windscreen M20 radiator resevoir Various bits of chrome trim Front and rear PFL bumpers, OK condition, would look good with some elbow grease+autosol E30 4 spoke steering wheel 4 brake calipers.

Done about 2000k's on the RE002's, Liking them a lot. Great tyres, havent pushed them in the wet yet, but they seem very quiet and VERY sticky in the dry. This is one wicked peice of road BTW! Best peice of tarmac ive found in NZ, wicked windy switching banked corners on SMOOTH asphalt. Was so good I had to turn around and do it again! http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Maungataniwh...mp;t=h&z=14 SH1 between kitchen rd and mangamuka, EPIC!

This is the best thing about that crash - Epic media fail!

Nah got a solid pay out, to fix all the problems. Should end up with NZ's mintest GF8 WRX in a few weeks! To get my money back wouldve required tribunal, wouldve been heard in January, with a decision up to 5 weeks after that! Which would leave me fuct for a car until then. The vehicle testing station owner ended up being a pretty decent guy, he called me up and apologised genuinely and also flicked me some money to cover costs. He did BS over the compressions, and wasnt exactly thorough with the pre purchase inspection! But, he did right his wrongs in the end. The car dealer remains a cowboy, who I wouldnt touch with a barge pole now. Hopefully he may think twice about trying to screw people now..... Maybe... Probably not...
