535i engine will be an easy swap , maybe add turbo for extra go. m60 v8 will require a bit more work. ,possible remote brake booster set up (maybe e34 v8 set up with some mods might be ok) matching V8 manual box will be better than trying to get a auto to work etc. modified headers and engine mounts etc . other than that they fit in ok. if possible go afor a later non vanos 4.4l from 96/97 540i 740i etc and run it on a m60 4L v8 ecu , loom etc have an actical in a mag with e39 m5 v8 in a m635csi http://www.bremgo-shop.de/_py-E24-M635i-40...3b2829c60df634c

it is K-jetronic , also used in very early e28 518i and 520i etc. pretty yukky system , no many people know what to do with them when they fault etc.

check the brake lights work , bulb or faulty brake switch are comon . also check the pads and disc thickness , also the brake pad wear sensor fitted to the front left and right rear brake pads , they wear out and then trigger the light . some people replace the brake pads but dont replce the worn out brake pad wear sensor(s)

i think he might consider a part swap , maybe your 318i and $2500cash he might consider a e30 convertable , call him

switches often fail (worn contacts inside) try using the door window switch . swap left switch for right side switch etc

you dont need to drain , just lift the unit out of the way a little solder the wire with an electric soldering iron and you are done

My mate just told me to drop the price to $3500 . so who wants a e34 wagon with 3.5L and 5spd manual be in quick before it goes to tard me and maybe $3k with the 15" alloys or $3250 with the 16" alloys

3L crank , pistons , block etc still here ,cheap power also have a good head for a M50 /M52 325i 323i 328i 525i 523i 528i etc

quite a big space in these when the seats are folded down . he hasn't bothered with a cert as most guys that do wof's dont know its any different and its only 19hp more than a 525i engine but with alot mor etorque etc . and no one has picked on it yet in the last few years its been like this also the car has the shadow line trim around the windows and mtec side skirts . would look good with mtec , hartge , alpina , ac schnitzer type front and rear spoiler/bumpers etc

just listing this for a mate its a 1992 525i with a 535i m30 211hp 155Kw 305Nm engine with 5spd manual fitted into it. 17" bbs wheels RX203 or could come with cheaper 16" bbs (e39 e38 type) or 15" 10 straight spoke bbs wheels and tyres ivory leather interior calipso red metalic face lift V8 type front grill and bonnet dual sunroof (with some issues) paint and body not perfect but could be tidied up new wof and reg 3.45 large case diff lighter solid flywheel and clutch from earlier 535i instead of the big heavy dual mass flywheel ring Brendan if you want to know any more about the car or view/test drive it etc $3500 Brendan 021829032 he is in manurewa

just use your old flywheel clutch starter etc no need to chnage that . you may have to use a different thrust bearing to get the correct clutch height travle etc . one from a m20 e21 320i 323i will do . just the bottom 3 small bolt holes dont line up , but not that important and could be redrilled if you relly wanted to bother. the main 4 big bolts line up fine also the starter motor etc

yes i have seen head gasgets eaten away from people driving arund with pinging engines e30 320i 325i with a lower compression engine around 8.5:1 or 9:1 cr will be fine on 91 but say e28 535i with 10:1 cr will need 95 or higherbut a e34 535i with 9:1 cr will run ok on 91. but most later tiwncam engines are 10:1 CR so require 95 or higher

AMEN and so it shall be i have to tell this to people all the time theres even a sticker in most bmw's petrol cap saying so

correct all the later gearboxes (m50 m52 m54 ,m42 ,m43 m44 etc) will sit on a sleightly different angle , so you will have to modify or make a gearbox mount and you may also have to bend the gearshifter a bit .
