  1. just though i would put this up here low k's 1995 318ti 5spd cheap runnabout new wof and reg good engine and gearbox ideal donar for a 3l m3 engine or 328i engine etc 021433600 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-367085021.htm
  2. sounds more like the visvous clutch for the fan is stuffed . over heats when sitting then cools back down when moving faster. also the other thing on these bmw's is the electric aux ac fan on the front should also cut in at a certain temp there are 2 speeds and double temperature sensor on the side of the radiator. the slower speed works when the ac is switched on or if the temp goes over 91deg C then the higher speed cuts in when it goes over 99deg C , if it doesn't cut in at the 91deg C or when the ac is turned on the resistor thats mounted in front of the electric is probably no good and will need replacing or bypassing. but i think your main problem is the mech viscous clutch. but if you keep using it like this you might do damage to the engine "Wound down the window and could hear the fan engaging, as it should" is this electric fan or the viscous fan cutting in???. Double temperature switch part No.5 fan low speed resistor part no.6 viscous clutch part no.2
  3. where are you based?? how are you getting cheap HP by sending your ecu off to some where ?? if its for chip etc better to get live remapping done on a dyno so you can see the before and after results sounds nice though . used to have a 99 540i touring , they go well cheers brent do you have pics??
  4. hhmm ok maybe next cheapish thing is to do is drill through the boot lock (part 18) and pull it out bit by bit untill there is nothing left of it then grab the lock rod (part 14) and pull it. or try your best to move the sub box . is it the full width of the hole. you can also get at the bolts (PART 13) that hold the boot latch on the body part, if you have very long extensions wih a 10mm socket on the end of it , but will damage the plastic shut panel.
  5. rust and failing heater controls are your biggest worries . most other mech and electrivcal probs are pretty easy to sort
  6. 027497533009 09 4419449 try this gearing calculator http://members.dodo.com.au/~wawawa/revs.htm select the zf gearbox option.
  7. yes common . the little locking arm falls off the clip from the back of the boot locking knob . fold seats down , get a torch , remove the carpet linning , , retach the locking rod maybe use a zip tie to hold it on .
  8. e34 m50 520i 525i have the sump at the front , this is what you need and no they did not make a e32 7 series with the m50 engine e36 m50 320i 325i have it at the rear , which wont suit a e30 conversion
  9. you want a e34 type right so it fits a e30 better??
  10. buy this then.http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-365615226.htm
  11. ok , just pull real hard then and maybe use a screw dirver as a lever.
  12. you will need to move the slider over for it to push the plug out. bring it around if you want have done a few like that. 021433600
  13. also check for vacuum leaks around all the pipes on the inlet manifold
  14. can do 3.15 open or lsd in e36 type . i use a 3.15 in my e36 328i manual
  15. and its still going http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/S...n-365869580.htm as it was many years ago http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....coupe+92+damage http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....coupe+92+damage
  16. did you not see the temp gauge go up into the red??
  17. E34 uses a round style connector to plug into the fuse box. This has 20 pins so I will list what the wires in each of those do. Pin 1, BU goes to the alternator. Comes from the Instrument Cluster "charge indicator" light. BU in the fuse box. Pin 2, GN/YL comes from oil lever sensor. It is BU/BK in the fuse box and runs to the static oil level active check control unit, which is the same as the oil level light. Pin 4, BR/VI comes from the coolant temp sender unit. It is BR/VI in the fuse box and goes to the Instrument cluster temp gauge. Pin 5, BR/GN Oil pressure switch. Runs to instrument cluster oil pressure light. Pin 6, GN/WH goes to the O2 sensor heater relay. Gets power from fuse 9 and in the fuse box is colored GN/YL. Pin 7, GN comes from the ignition switch and goes to the Start Input, in the motronic unit and it also goes to Pin 15 on the coil. In the fuse box it is colored GN. Pin 8, WH/BK comes from the motronic unit "present fuel rate output". Is YL/WH in fuse box and runs to Fuel Economy Gauge in the bottom of the tach. Pin 9, BK goes to the ECU Engine speed output. This is BK in the fuse box. On the E28 this actually should be the connected in C103. Pin 10, BU comes from the oil level sensor. It is VI/GN in the fuse box and goes to the active check control unit as the dynamic oil level light. Pin 11, WH/GN comes from Pin 7 of the diagnostic connector. Is WH/BU in the fuse box and goes to the Service Indicator Processor. Pin 12, GY comes from the ECU and is the trigger for the "Check Engine" light control. In the fuse box it is BR/BK. This wire is not used on the E28, since there is no check engine light. Pin 13, GN/VI comes from Pin 87 of fuel pump relay. Is VI/RD in fuse box and runs to Fuse 11. Pin 14, BK/WH comes from motronic unit "Speed Signal Input". Is BU/YL in fuse box and goes to the Speed Input of the Instrument Cluster. Pin 15, BK/GN comes from Pin 30h on the coil. In the fuse box it is BK/GN and runs to the unloader relays. Pin 16, WH/BK comes from Pin 6 of diagnostic connector and is used in the SRS system. In the fuse box it is WH/BK and is said to be not used. Pin 18, BK/YL is the starter trigger and comes from in the car. It is also BK/YL in the fuse box. It also runs to Pin 11 of the diagnostic connector. Pin 20, RD/YL comes from Pin 87 of the main relay. It is RD/YL and goes to power the ABS Hydraulic Unit.
  18. no its his brother mike
  19. hope you didn't pay much for that . it looks like its from a e28 1984 520i m20 engine very early anyway with that type of gear shifter mech is the distance between the top 2 bolt holes about 140mm then its a m20 type box if its 120mm then its a m30 m10 type box maybe a e28 525i 528i 1984 m30 http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E28/Seda...manual_gearbox/
