  1. THANKS . JUST A QUICK UPDATE . REASEMBLED THE FRONT END . WILL WAIT FOR A BONNET TO COME IN AND MTEC KIT BITS ETC THEN GET IT ALL PAINTED .
  2. small update , had one of the guys at work ,working on the touring , just putting it together , will get it painted when i have the full bodykit to go on etc . something like this . got a set of 17" by 8.5" and 7.5" motorsport alloys from a 330i to go . have to repair a motorsport front bumper , fit twisty type side skirts and find a rear motosport bumper(darn it just sold a blue one that could have gone on to it )

  5. my thoughts , no us spec'd engines this side of the world , OZ cars got the gutless engine but why would you bring one here to NZ . look at the basics like i suggested first , comon things to go on m30 engines. vaccuum leaks cause the engines to stall and run rough when idling

  8. i am rebuilding my m88 engine at the moment . costing me about $3k for top and bottom gasget sets , chains , guides , bearings ,seals etc the chains dont fail its the plastic chain guides that wear out .
  9. it will be a 10;1 cr engine and that is the correct ecu for that engine . check for vac leaks ,sticky ICV , faulty fuel pressure regulator , worn resistor track in the afm , fault crank sensors or bad connections to them . also check the Fuel quality switch on the side of the ecu is set to position zero . there a few vac hoses which conect to the inlet manifold , make sure all are conected and in good condition and not blocked etc .
  10. e39 use the later type ones . early e36 ones wont work . only models from a about 1996/7 onwards

  12. yea i know , not sure what to do with that one , what do you guys think it could mean??? maybe i could replace it with this but then i might not want to drive it yea had to wait a bit to get this one , was listed at turners about a month ago(with no auction date set) then withdrawn then poped back again this week yea only arrived late today .yes good to catch up today , nice e30 you have . still thinking about those black leather recaro's
  13. check the skinny white wire has 12volts positive on it when the stereo is on at the back of the stereo and teh aerial amp. that supplys power to the aerial amp unit .

  16. picked up a new wendy wagon for the little lady . just a sleight scratch in the front right corner . nz new 328i touring , yukky nz spec leather interior . but some other nice extra's like full OBC . lumber support adjustments on the front seats. fold down arm reat etc nice best bars made towbar with 1400kg braked rating ( only 100kg less than the e34 535i) 5 speed ZF auto ( not the dreaded jatco job) but most likly will be converted to a 5 spd manual soon . still has current wof and reg . abs light on ( probably the abs pump unit has the model that gives more trouble than most) yukky std 15" wheels . odd style rear indicators might fit the mtec kit to it if i can find the front and rear bumpers and swap the wheels out for some 17" something bmw , german or italian tunner type so will be selling the e34 525i b10 alpina soon as this car is ready to go.
  17. mine rattles away (m20 flywheel with getrag 250 box), but then the idle is a little rough and low . bring the idle up and not so noticable .
  18. i had a e39 528i here a little while ago it ran a little rough at idel and when cold , had a pod type filter that was pretty dirty . i cleaned it out but when i refitted it the car ran like rubbish when cold , so i removed the afm and was looking inside it and notticed the hot film sensors had a decent amount of build up on it , so i just used the k&n filter spray cleaner stuff on it then hosed it out with water , dried it and refitted and it and it ran fine . I had nothing to loose and spares in the shelf if it didn't work
  19. coupe or sedan?? there are adjustments for the window glass height . also if there is a door that has failing or stuffed lcoking soliniod ,the door locks will pop back up so you know there is something thats not locked , check the boot lock , also the petrol flap lock , if they failed to lock they will tell the central locking system so ,
  20. yes just punch it out using a screwdriver etc . you can get the proper ski bag system to go into it ,so as to stop the smells and water dripping into your cabin ,
  21. i used a m20 6.5kg solid flywheel and a uprated modified m20 clutch with a m20 starter . no problems and nice light clutch feel

  23. yes , have done it to my car . has cost me a bit over a few years , but have loved doing it (or at least love the power of the m5 engine etc) i have been using mine for a quite a few track days etc . handling and braking have also been addresed. i do have a spare engine now , and they do cost heaps , but makes it such a great car . just in the middle of rebuilding one of the engines . blew a head gasget after 25years of use ( so bare that in mind when buying a used engine) with new custom over sized higher compression pistons recon'd cylinder head with new shrick cams fitting a bigger crank into it , so taking it from a 3453cc to about 3650cc remapped ecu etc shorter diff gearing etc etc . should pull quite well . you can go down the tweeked M30 route , just depends how far you want to go . headers , cams , using a older m90 block and fitting newer larger crank etc custom pistons or std ones , diff change , etc etc . what sort of budget are you thinking .
