  1. check with marty , he had a 3.25 lsd made up(for his e34 turbo project) with the 540i driveshaft flange so that one will bolt straight up

  4. got this today . reg on hold , uk import 180,000miles. calipso red , cloth seats , wood trim , std 15" bbs , flakey clear coat on the right rear previous owner repleced broken M60B30 engine with a M62B35 engine from a 97 735i and also imported from the usa a 5spd manual box from a 530i V8 etc a light weight ali flywheel fitted with a new bmw clutch. but has not been able to get it going with the e38 ecu (ews problems )he didn't get the full kit . so then tried with a link computer and no luck there after about 2 years or so . so i thought i would use a orginal engine loom and get it running on a std 530i or 730i ecu and remap it , or maybe swap the 3.5L chip into a early e38 ecu that has no ews stuff ??? but i also have a 93 540i in black with a stuffed trans , bad paint , no plates (handed in) lowered suspension grey leather etc . maybe stick the manual into that car and rereg it . also i have a spare M62B44 4.4L v8 engine out of a e39 540i was wanting to do a e36 with this engine and manual ??? but that requires quite a lot of modifacations to the sump , mounts headers etc to make it fit in and work HHHMMMMMM what to do , and this is in between managing a european car dismantler and running a house hold etc oh and not to forget rebuilding a m5 engine and super charger my 328i coupe etc
  5. maybe head gasget leak causing over pressure , but fix any leaks first as they will let air into the system and cause similier problems , had same issue with my 535i recently ended up being a head gasget (sleight corrosion after 20 years)
  6. i would also change the diff and axles to the bigger medium case diff if fitting more power .

  8. THANKS . JUST A QUICK UPDATE . REASEMBLED THE FRONT END . WILL WAIT FOR A BONNET TO COME IN AND MTEC KIT BITS ETC THEN GET IT ALL PAINTED .
  9. small update , had one of the guys at work ,working on the touring , just putting it together , will get it painted when i have the full bodykit to go on etc . something like this . got a set of 17" by 8.5" and 7.5" motorsport alloys from a 330i to go . have to repair a motorsport front bumper , fit twisty type side skirts and find a rear motosport bumper(darn it just sold a blue one that could have gone on to it )

  12. my thoughts , no us spec'd engines this side of the world , OZ cars got the gutless engine but why would you bring one here to NZ . look at the basics like i suggested first , comon things to go on m30 engines. vaccuum leaks cause the engines to stall and run rough when idling

  15. i am rebuilding my m88 engine at the moment . costing me about $3k for top and bottom gasget sets , chains , guides , bearings ,seals etc the chains dont fail its the plastic chain guides that wear out .
  16. it will be a 10;1 cr engine and that is the correct ecu for that engine . check for vac leaks ,sticky ICV , faulty fuel pressure regulator , worn resistor track in the afm , fault crank sensors or bad connections to them . also check the Fuel quality switch on the side of the ecu is set to position zero . there a few vac hoses which conect to the inlet manifold , make sure all are conected and in good condition and not blocked etc .
  17. e39 use the later type ones . early e36 ones wont work . only models from a about 1996/7 onwards

  19. yea i know , not sure what to do with that one , what do you guys think it could mean??? maybe i could replace it with this but then i might not want to drive it yea had to wait a bit to get this one , was listed at turners about a month ago(with no auction date set) then withdrawn then poped back again this week yea only arrived late today .yes good to catch up today , nice e30 you have . still thinking about those black leather recaro's
  20. check the skinny white wire has 12volts positive on it when the stereo is on at the back of the stereo and teh aerial amp. that supplys power to the aerial amp unit .
  21. good work that engine was bit of a deal . is this for you or your brother steve are you goingto run it on a 325i 525i m50 ecu system??
