-
yes thats right , just spin teh wheel . maybe take them apart , clean and lube etc , or get them overhauled ,new seals etc ,reco'd etc . or just try some second hand ones .
-
e23's are well known for having sticky brake calipers . check all of them
-
the rad tanks always fail , spilt etc . also replace any brown looking coolant plastic pipes etc . raditor reserve bottle split .
-
use the later model loom and sensors front hub . you will need a 2.5L afm i think the old one will do . a 2.5L afm . the old 2.5 inlet manifold is ok . and you will need a face lift 2.5L ecu . can also get one from a e34 525i m20 .
-
best thing i did to my e28 was stiffen up the bilstein shocks and fit bigger antiroll bars .
-
pfl e30 and e28 have the same fog lights also same as the e24 and e23 from 83 to 87 etc
-
also double check how good the fan viscous clutch is working , if it spins realy freely then its stuffed also will be realy oily in the front of the fan clutch if its lost all its fluid from teh clutch unit .
-
check the fuel pump . check you have fuel pressure at the engine . double check you have spark.

your ecu will need a remap to get that right . or try a ecu from a e34 530i or e32 730i m30 engine same pin set up but tunned for a 3L engine of similer power. read this

if it is a 325i m20 engine the gearbox you asked about is as rare as rocking horse s*&t.but the ones i mentioned will bolt up to a m20 . has a std gearbox layout but has the closer ratio's
-
what engine type is it to used for. if its a m20 m40 m50 type you can use a box from a e36 318i 320i 325i 328i etc they have a 1:1 top gear . i have some

my thoughts too . if it was black i would be tempted the odd 1998 1999 models with 100+ ks sell for around $45-55k so $65k for a 2003 is pretty good

thats normal ,. just hold it in place when tightning the head bolt up . it will stay there when its tight

doesn't matter that you have the auto one . it has 2 functions one function is to tell the ecu if you are full thottle or idle (both manual and auto switches have that part) the other part is a varriable resistor to tell the auto ecu box where your foot is on the gas pedal so it can work out when to change gear etc . so that part will just go no where important when you convert it to a manual.
