Solid state clutch, new brakes front/rear ordered should arrive tomorrow. Getting a full service at the same time, hopefully I get another year out of it!!!

That type of clutch is cheaper than a double sprung? Also, getting a service done at the same time, what oil do I need? THey only have conventional types there, will supply it myself, roughly what litres also?

LOL Greg, not so awesome, the cheapest clutch kit I've found is a grand + gst

BUT.... and a big BUT - the clutch doesn't like it on the way home tonight it was slipping whilst in 4th gear. Looks like I'm up for a good grand to get that sorted, so the little car has cost me probably 2k to get this done now ha!

Ha, nah. Need a warranty for that kind of carry on.

Ok, so have had this done this morning and taken it for a quick drive. No massive noticeable difference around the streets, but open road a huge difference, third gear overtaking is totally effortless and this is what the X5 was best at - that overtaking 80-1..kph and the little 3 series would be quicker now. There's a noticeable slight dusting of soot now under load, turbo lag is now virtually non existent, and if I plant it in first gear in the dry the traction control cuts in. I ended up getting it for $200 cheaper than originally thought so from my first post is it worth it? f**k yes! The gains after are now 25kw gain and 55nm - so 125kw and 335nm

Hi Jim, just needs a NZ DVD from previous posts, if it was from Japan it's a bit more difficult, someone else here should be able to confirm this or even have a copied DVD...

The Mondeo I had was great, ex lease, bought it unseen on TradeMe when I was living overseas, had 230kms when I bought it but it drove good. Much better made than a Camry that's for sure.

I thought Mondeo's were built in Belguim, my old 2002 was at any rate. They're a good car for the price.

Good luck in importing a car into Australia especially if you haven't owned it long! I'd prefer the S class if I was looking for a big luxury sedan, in particular the S 65 AMG which is 450kw and 1000nm S Class have always seemed to be a that much better on the reviews than the 7

It had a major service at BMW end of last year when it was bought, it has 500km to go, but going to have it done at the inlaws workshop, getting brakes done at the same time. My bro in law the mechanic has a E46 also, so he knows his way around them. No pop's Gregg, I've been assured it's safe! Also, I've done it on two 3.0 diesels as well, one high kms - the remap converts them. End of the day, I only paid 6k for the car, if it goes bang it's to be sold as a wreck.

Haha, for torque only yeah. What kw and nm are E46 M3's ?

Booked in for 10 December - It will give 135kw and 350nm - Not too bad, could go the race fille which would see 400nm and 155kw but I'm advised it could be a bit harsh on the old E46! Can't wait!
