  1. spotted: a booze bus blocking my driveway, and they won't move it "can you move forward a bit so I can get out please? I have an appointment at the vet for my cat" "we'll be done here soon" "um now please, I have an appointment" "you'll just have to wait" tempted to call a towie and tell him there's a truck blocking my driveway

    best car chase ever

while not exactly a chase (I guess it kind of is), I really enjoyed Le Mans
  4. I've always had great service from Pelican Parts Detailed and constantly updated tracking, regular updates if there's delays with parts, and generally quick shipping, but shipping can be a bit costly on heavier items.
  5. the text has replaced the button to add attachments but I do still have the "manage current attachments" drop down box
  6. Hi I have a pair of clear front indicators for an E36 coupe for sale. Mint condition, only on my car for a couple months (have since replaced with smoked versions) Note they do not come with the bulb sockets, just re-use what your car already has they were from Pelican Parts 82-19-9-403-093-M281 82-19-9-403-094-M281 $45 + shipping
  7. I believe MAF issues come from using too much oil on the filter. Could also happen if you run a K&N panel filter, which doesn't seem to have such a bad rep. I have been running a K&N cold air induction kit in my E36 for 3 years with no issue, but maybe my older beemer isn't as sensitive to the MAF issues as the newer models might be, or it's an issue waiting to happen and I've been lucky. The sound is choice, but I didn't notice any difference in power. The headshield provided with the kit is just ok; I am looking at getting some heat shielding material to wrap around it to make it more effective. Oh and the insurance company didn't like me putting that in my car, they tried increasing my premiums and heavily ramping up my excess for this "performance mod". I told them to shove it, and changed to another provider who had a good laugh when I told them.
  8. I got a warning from a cop at a checkpoint one night for having my front fogs on. In my defence it was foggy at home (but not where the checkpoint was) and the bulb on the dash wasn't working to indicate the fogs were on, so I kinda forgot (fixed the bulb now). So some cops out there do pay attention to this stuff, but it's rather rare.
  9. finally sorted was a lot easier with daylight, and a helper to hold the shoes in place left side was a lot easier and quicker really the only trick is to have both hands on the pliers and use a lot of muscle
  10. I was using their book to guide me through it, but didn't think of checking their website "the long springs are easy with a zip tie around one end...just pull apart with one hand and use a plier to remove or replace the tip you just pulled free" genius, I'm going to try that no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't get the spring down far enough to get back into the hole in the bottom shoe
  11. Hi I got the old handbrake shoes off ok, but I can't get the new shoes on In particular I'm having real difficulty with the springs Any hints and tips to getting the buggers on? Cheers
  12. Did you have any luck with this? I've gathered all the required pieces and tools to do this job, and have been reading a few guides on how to do it. They all say to just undo the bolts and move the unit aside, but I'm guessing it's not that easy?
  13. Hi Car = 1996 E36 323i Coupe, Jap import The left brake light stopped working, so I pulled the bulb and it was rather brown. I replaced it with a new one ... but still not going. My first thought was the contacts on the little plastic unit you put the bulb into, gave them a going over with a wire brush, put the bulb back in, still not going. I then switched over the plastic unit with the working right hand side, and it goes on the right but not the left. So it's not the bulb, and it's not the contacts on the little platsic bulb holder .... I looked into the plastic housing where the bulb unit goes in, gave the contact in there a scrubbing with the wire brush ... still not going. All the other lights are fine, so I don't think it's a fuse ... what else should I look for? Cheers

    smartphones

I went with an Xperia U, mainly because it's the smallest smart phone out there I don't need a huge screen as I won't be constantly watching videos or playing games on it I don't need big storage as I don't need an mp3 player not much bigger than a classic candy bar style phone but with android goodness

    "My Family"

well in Upper Hutt it is pretty much just an hour of piss poor effort at shovelling followed by joints, with the guards turning a blind eye how about the guy on tv3 news last night who said "who cares about the fine, they'll just put it on my tab" I'm thinking that screwing them financially for years to come would sure as hell make them regret their actions. It's damn obvious that none of them care as it is. And it's obvious the courts are powerless to do anything that will actually change things. If they have a crap credit rating already, then I'm amazed, because all those boyracers seem to have spent a lot of money on cars and doing up those cars. Either they have rich parents (make them pay the fines maybe?), they earn enough (make them pay the fine then), or they have enough credit to tick things up fining them doesn't work impounding their cars doesn't work they've crushed 1 car so far in the couple years the law has been in place, and that hasn't deterred anyone there's really not a lot of consequence on another train of thought, how about getting these hoons to ride along with cops in the graveyard shifts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, and get hassled when they pull over their mates and get spotted hanging out with the cops. Maybe even see a nasty accident and / or the damage caused by their stupidness.
  20. may I ask who your insurer is please?I really don't want to have to deal with this rubbish if it ever comes up

    "My Family"

easiest way in NZ to get off paying fines is to just keep racking up so much that the court finally decides to just give you a couple hours of sitting around smoking weed, aka community serviceif people can't pay fines and keep racking them up; or if people crash into someone else and can't pay and have no insurance don't let them get off with $1 a week for the rest of their lives, it means nothing bankrupt them that'll make them think twice about their actions
  22. my car came with a 4 spoke and I changed it for a sportier looking 3 spoke had to change over the switch bracket, take out the horn contact switch, and reconnect up the horn wire minus the contact switch these really helped a lot http://www.frankies-bmw.com/3series/diy/st...ering_wheel.php http://e31wiki.org/wiki/Steering_wheel_swa..._switch_bracket
