  1. Haha no I believe thats called "hitting the clipping point" Except hes doing it quite literally!
  2. Its like the Figureskating of motorsport. They do it to music, they do some crazy sh*t, and it doesnt make sense to anyone outside of the competitors. At the end of the day, its all a tad pointless.. God I love it though Beauty in the eye.. And back on topic!
  3. Google? And formula 5000 were (are) into it. God the 70's were ace for motorsport! *batman tune* Nananananananananana Nurburg, Nurburg. (F1 late 60's) (Formula 5000 mid 70's)
  4. Its really popular now because you can fit large wheels with flush offsets at low ride heights. Its not new. Has been around for ages. Like 1970's ages.. God damn new fan-dangled kids and they're sticky-outy wheels. /Edit. In terms of performance - You get increased sidewall stiffness which is good for drifting. Of course you've got the entire scale and some streach is just crazytittys. Local NZ drift car with perfect fitment.
  5. Yeah dude, will be leaving those trim pillar bits black regardless. PS nice stuff welding your exhaust. Might be able to fix the holes in mine
  6. Ahh... the knob shot Anyway, It's almost time to paint, I've chosen a colour but I'm confused on what bits I should paint (strange question I know) Aiight so here it is (keep in mind the colour is a lighter colour) If it stays non tech2: Paint door handles - Yes/No Paint door trim - Yes/No Paint wingmirrors - Yes/No Paint front and rear bumpers - Yes/No Leave under the doors black - Yes/No If I buy a tech2 kit for it: Paint door handles - Yes/No Paint wingmirrors - Yes/No Hopefully the above makes sense. .. And go! And Edit/ Pulled up at the lights today on the way back from getting some Subway and this driving instructor car pulled up next to us. The 70+ old man in the drivers window rolls it down, leans out and says.. "Hey, Oi!... Choice wheels bro" What a rad dude... haha grandpa was sippin' on gin and juice. Just thought I'd share
  7. Damn you got me. God this thread is awesome. I LOVE THE PASSION ABOUT HEADLIGHTS!
  8. Yeah dude your totally right. But if you've got enough adjustment you can do so much as to make the difference negligible in terms of "dazzling" between standard and aftermarket kit. IMO anyway.
  9. You can adjust them dude. Just like a normal headlight there are beam adjustment screws (or whatever the car in question has) I've got my "omgwtfsomethingblueisdrivingatme headlights" aimed low enough not to bother other motorists. Theres still good beam range, and they sit a little below where "VTNZ" would have them aimed. I dont really mind the hate about ghetto fitted HID's. They're 10000000983148234087236x better than the two candles my E30 had before

    Happy birthday dude!
  12. Sorry to hear mate. Glad your ok.
  13. Hahaha thats the one place I'll drive any time of the day! I'm probably going to be working late so will roll around straight from work. Will catch you cats there!
  14. I've got one of the girls from work to give you a call bro.
  15. Haha we had the sunroof down, thats bad enough mate! Yeah I saw you were heading up, will try make it. Its really not much to look at! Bozuku would be rad!
  16. So its 10:30 - 11:00ish PM on Sunday evening and we've just got back from the Warriors. With no real plans for the night and after a couple of beers we decide we want to venture back out into the cold and do something. So I call Air New Zealand hoping to get a flight down to Christchurch (for no real reason barring continued alcohol consumption) but unfortunately the last plane had left... Sh*t, I even tried Wellington but had no joy... It seemed the only plane leaving somewhere Sunday evening was to the USA... slightly out of my budget for impulse traveling. The next idea was something I've wanted to do for a while; and part of the reason for buying a sensible car. To drive from Auckland to the top of NZ to watch the sunrise (in a totally hetrosexual, two guys, thug life way) So after much deliberation (read: filling the car up) we jumped in, fired up the super awesome E-bay powered HID's and set our sights on the top. Toll gate time (sorry I know its a horrible shot!) One of the many random stops Cue generic wheel shot So we arrived at around 5ish in the morning. I slept for maybe 2 and a half hours before getting out of the car to snap this one... Yes, thats ice on the car. For those who haven't been to the top of our country at 7am in the morning on the first day of winter and are looking to do so, I would largely reccomend against it! You've got to be nuts... I cannot explain how bitterly cold the wind was.. But was the juice worth the squeeze? Fu*k yeah it was. I wish I'd taken a real camera instead of a snappy-snap digital, but oh well. Heres some more: Looking from the carpark. Words cannot explain how cold it was in that wind. So I ran... To the top! This is looking directly out from the top of the North Island Stopping to fix a blown fuse... Note the new two tone mud-job. Snapped this one when we were stopped. No idea where-ville Entering the rather disappointing tunnel. I probably should paint the car soon too!
  17. This thread can only get better

    New feet

Looks ace with the red bro! Just needs some streach, some spacers and to lose some height as you mentioned.
  19. Nice wheel bro /Edit - IMO remove the dark surround that comes with it. I reckon it looks better without it.
  20. New rear tyres every meet?!..Are you kidding? Welded diffs aren't that bad on tires. I daily drove my last car with a locker for about a year and never had any unusual or rapid wear. You are building a race car right? To answer your question - Budget $1000 and your on track. I've just swapped an LSD into my E30 and replaced the bearings, machined some tighter shims.. And the end of it i'd spend just under the 1k mark including housing and LSD center, fluid, seals, blah blah...Cam - My mistake on the detroit locker. Always learning huh!
  21. Hey! Drift cars take the same racing lines, and barring suspension geometry / alignment (ok and aero in some cases) are nearly identical. You could take a top level drift car and make it a circuit car very easily... Vice-versa applies. PS - Who the hell call's them detroit lockers? You quoting wikipedia or something? edit/ ignore this... im special One love.
  22. For sure mate - However I guess V-Mounting in this application would be more about protecting the intercooler, oilcooler and radiator. You could move it deeper into the engine bay and further from harm. I also agree gains from V-Mounting are negligible. Although I cannot deny super bling intake shrouds, angled radiators and flashy rivets look cool! (I love rice)
  23. Definately agree! I thought the same thing when I first saw it. It will definately take some weight from the nose and I see awesome potential for a V-Mount setup! Also - LSD's in and working nicely.
