  1. I had to do my rear wheel bearings when I got my E36. Bastard sold me the car making that noise and said all it needed was new tyres and a wheel alignment... It's well worth it, driving in comparitive silence is great
  2. While we're asking what switches do... What is the switch on the dash board behind the steering wheel, in front of the window wiper control?
  3. Young grasshopper... I had this dilemma when I got mine too. S - Sport - pushed forwards, holds the gears longer and at higher revs - good for overtaking etc... E - Economy- Pushed down, normal driving * - Snowflake - Pushed backwards, keeps revs lower and the car takes off in 2nd gear. Designed to keep traction. Not that I try but my car is actually quite difficult to get to 'drift'. I don't bother trying and can rest assured that I'd have to be doing something pretty silly for it to get away from me when cornering in the wet. On a side note, when I got it I could only find S and * - didn't think to push down on the E - wow a 3 way switch
  4. That looks VERY complicated and time consuming.
  5. I've got new springs too but don't have new shocks... Granted the lean has been lessened due to the new Jamex's.
  6. Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone knows of a cheap but reliable place for me to get my sideskirts and eyebrows painted in the central Auckland or Airport area. The skirts are primed up and the eyebrows are brand new. Following this, how do I attach my side skirts? It's an E36 sedan... N1 Kits quoted $337 on labour alone for fitting! I know they are the best but that just seems ridiculous to me. Thanks for the help, Ryan
  7. Basically repeating what everyone else has said... I replace my brake rotors and pads in the weekend and the shudder has gone completely. Just gotta to get a new wheel alignment now after I lowered and the car and I should have straight shudder free driving
  8. Most cars tend to do this after a while. It's the side that naturally gets the most use of you getting in and out, bouncing the springs. It's the side that when you're driving all the time is underload... I mean hell, if I was alive since in the 90's and had a 90kg weight jumping on me everyday I'm sure I'd get my lean on. Your thoughts?
  9. That's a very tidy ride you've got there. I'd just lower it a little, would look good and handle a bit better. :thumb:

Nice pics ya little stalker. We really should have a decent get together (photo shoot) before the weather turns to sh*t.
  11. And on boat trailers....I think the LED's look nice and are practical. I'm sure the designs/styling will improve, and they only suit the latest cars. I'm noticing that in the camping supplies we distribute all the outdoor lighting is moving towards white LED's due to the size, light intensity and most importantly low power consumption.
  12. Sorry to hijack your thread, but has anyone had overheating issues in their E36? My car seems to generate a lot of heat in that space (this was while I didn't have the head unit in there). I've been looking at putting in an extractor fan...
  13. Supply Chain Co-ordinator at a large Logistics company. Started nearly 3 years ago in the Uni holidays when we were small. Uni was going back and they asked me to stay part time in between my lectures. I made the decision to work their full time and study part time as I wasn't in any hurry to finish my degree and was enjoying the income. Managed to move into an office position after a year and I've now been in the office for 2 years. Really enjoy the company of the people I work with and *most* the customers I deal with. The company has grown from 10 people to about 40 over the 3 years and we've moved from a 20,000 square foot warehouse into a 45,000 square foot warehouse, soon to be 80,000... It's a great industry to be in at the moment with huge growth.

What kind of question is that and how does it relate to CrazyLac???
  15. In my E36 I had problems with the viscous coupling on the 'engine fan', the temp would build very quickly - thankfully I kept an eye on this and the car never overheated. The fan is obiously there for a reason, if you sit in traffic and put you foot down you will hear it doing it's job. Correct me if I'm wrong but the fan you can see through the grill is for the air conditioning?
  16. Cooks Beach - beach house, boat, fishing and wakeboarding. Not taking my car cos I haven't got the new brakes in yet. Cruise control in the TD5 Land Rover looks like an attractive option. Stink thing is that I have a Uni assignment and a number of work assignments to complete over the weekend when I'm not on the boat.
  17. There's a brand new set on trademe going cheap. Just search E36 and they'll come up.
  18. It's just coming up 2 years since my last fine. 1st fine 35pts ($170) - 124km/h on the motorway, thankfully this was a slightly slower speed than what I had been doing. Reason for stupidity: I had gone away for a weekend with the mrs and her parents called wanting her home asap - I was obliging and got nailed for it. Funnily enough this Mrs was telling me off, she tried racing a Comodoore the next week and it was a plain clothes cop. 2nd fine 20pts ($120) - 71km/h in a 50km/h. I had just got the exhaust put on my Prelude, went round a corner in Mt Eden and put my foot down to hear it. It was 7:30am on a Saturday morning and the officer was sitting outside a resthome of all places. I said I knew I was in the wrong but why on earth was he sitting there - residents had complained they couldn't cross the road to get to the dairy safely. Both those fines were in my 1986 2.0 Prelude. After that I had a 91 2.2 VTEC and left my speeding to the track at Meremere and I had one hell of a time down there. Now just about back to 0 demerits.

    FRONT ROTORS

I've just had to change my front rotors and pads. I've got standard rotors ($40ea) or could have had the Brembo's for $60ea (really didn't see the point). I've gone with the Bendex(spellcheck?) 'dustless sport' pads. Shouldn't be too harder job considering I did all my own springs a few weeks ago.
  20. I saw this car lastnight parked by the Mobil Quay Street Carwash, it's a damn nice look ride.

    NZ Super Car

Yes I've heard of it. Looks pretty awesome and the engine well... It looks like it deserves the super car badge.
