  1. I suspect it's more to do with the fact that because the VIN/Number plates have been swapped from the donor car and the insurance still thinking that it's an automatic that they won't pay out no matter who the driver is...
  2. If you compare it to a normal one, there's definitely something off about it. The cut out on the left side of the photo looks wrong. It should be square, not rounded. Also the header tank is either mounted too low or the cover is too far forward and too high.
  3. I'll buy it. I'm up in Auckland on Tuesday so if you are in the CBD I could pick it up or failing that PM your bank account and total cost including postage to Wellington.
  4. Then they'll ticket it as an abandoned vehicle. After a few tickets they'll then tow the car and send the tow and storage fees to the registered owner.

    E30 (Msport?) Springs

Would you send the springs to Wellington?
  6. Have they put electrical tape on the number plate to make the front look like C0SM0S and the rear to look like C0SMQS?
  7. Looks like Le Mans Blue to me
  8. I need to do the rear bushings etc on my E30 and so I'm contemplating buying a subframe and refreshing it. This would save me removing mine and leaving my car immobile while I work on it. It's not my DD, but it would still be annoying to have the car stuck in the garage for a few weeks. So I'm looking for the Rear-subframe from an e30. Preferably in the Lower North Island region (within driving distance) as I can't imagine freight would be that cheap .

    Sell out sale.

    Do you have any M52B28s?
  10. Are any of the clusters for 6cyl and with a working odo?
  11. I second this. They look ugly with bolts through them. I've had mine taped on with trim tape on three cars now and there's no sign of them coming off. One even survived a frontal impact, the only thing holding the bumper trim together was my number plate.
  12. I don't suppose you have an electric aerial do you?
  13. I'm looking for a set of tail lights for an e38 7 series. I'd prefer the facelift "jeweled" style if possible. Either clear or amber indicators, I don't mind which.
  14. A ragged on BMW V12? Hmmm it would swallow all the money you can throw at it and still come back for more. Those v12s are silky smooth engines when running right, but they need proper maintenance to stay that way. Trying to bring a neglected one back to life is suicide for your wallet.
  15. Go here https://transact.nzta.govt.nz/transactions/...cess/entry.aspx and revoke authorisation for access to your personal data.
  16. Yes, nothing says trouble free motoring like a rough, poorly maintained high-ish mileage V-10 engined performance car.
  17. It's NZ New Cars. They are a broker company, not a dealer as such. They sell peoples' cars on behalf, predominantly online through Trade Me. They don't have a dealer's yard. If you want to buy a car that they are advertising they will then broker the deal with the current owner. Kind of like a real estate agent.
  18. That does look to be in wonderful condition. I've never really seen the appeal in Baurs (apart from their relative rarity) personally. They always look kind of awkward to my eye.
  19. I own a Mk1 and a Mk2 Uno Turbo. Both are fairly quick due to being light weight, but they certainly aren't Evo quick. I too know the original owner of this one and it was a very well cared for car. Not sure if I would pay $4k for it though.
  20. Accident damage that has been cheaply repaired? That could explain the hideous front bumper and the removal of the airbag steering wheel (cheaper than replacing a blown airbag).
  21. You'll need to replace the radiator, thermostat, headertank and associated cooling hoses. You might as well replace the waterpump while you are going. It's a pretty simple job and will cost you around $1000 to get it done properly. Otherwise, your cupholders won't work (but who needs those anyway?), you'll have to replace your window regulators at some point, but they are easily a DIY job and chances are the suspension bushing will need doing (it's a heavy car afterall) but they are pretty cheap too. If you don't mind DIYing then the E38s aren't that bad to run cost wise and they will put a smile on your face. The whole point of a 7 is to waft along in comfort and dismiss less powerful cars with distain so avoid the 728i or 730i as they are underpowered. 740i/740il (either 4.0 or 4.4) are a good mix of power and fuel economy (relatively, it's never going to be a smart car). The 750il will rob you blind!
  22. Nope. Those with an interest in the car (registered owner, finance company or anyone with a lien on the car) are notified that the car has been involved in an action that contravenes this law and that the car is under threat of being destroyed if it is caught again (or however many offences are left). I can imagine that the finance company will be thrilled to get such a letter . It'll be interesting to see how many finance companies begin to refuse finance on modified cars or call in the loan upon receipt of the first warning letter.
