I reckon everyone uses the same car. e92 M3 - that way anyone who doesn't have it (criminal offence not to!) can easily buy it from the dealer, rather than nominating a BMW that isn't for sale from the dealer. Sports soft tyres + all drive train, suspension and transmission mods allowed? No engine mods or weight reduction allowed. Thoughts?

Nurburgring sounds good. I would take responsibility for creating the server, but living in a house with only 1 hdtv I can't guarantee I'll be on. Someone who definitely can make it care to take responsibility? Password= bs ?????

Ugh that's bad news. I'm at level 29 and am hanging out for the X1 but will be guttered if the controller isn't precise enough. Nascar is a son of a bitch with just the controller. I'm still very uninspired by B-spec mode.

Cheers for the advice people. Definitely looks like 6 months suspension. It's not a big deal as I'm returning to study in 2 weeks and wont really be using my car until next summer. The only thing that is worrying me now is the implications of having this charge on my record. As I understand it there is no diversion for these "boy racer infringements". Does anyone know if it goes on my traffic record like a speeding ticket or if it is on my criminal record like a disorderly charge. If it's going to stop me getting a job in the corporate world I might need to find some cash for a lawyer. So that begs the question, anyone work in HR or have knowledge about how much this kind of thing limits employment opportunities? Do people actually care? Not looking forward to paying the bill. Probably $300 for speeding, plus whatever fine the judge wants to give me for racing along with impound/tow costs - any idea what these usually are? $200? And I'm guessing court costs also.

Never done something silly John?

I was driving up the Kaimais with a few mates this morning to check out Mclaren's Falls. One other guy in my car, 4 in my mate's Honda. He went to overtake in the passing lane so I chopped down to 3rd to keep up. We got up to 130kmh, side by side when a cop came round the corner. This was just before the Mclarens Falls road, so we turned down it (it was our destination after all). Just as we turned in I saw the cop's lights and knew it was game over. I pulled over and waited, while my mate who was ahead just kept going, so he got away. So my car was impounded for street racing and I've got a court summons coming in the mail. He ticketed me at 132km/hm. Now when he stopped me he asked who my mate was and because it was a dead end road I knew the office was going to find him regardless whether I gave him the name or not. So I co-operated and gave him his name. He asked me a few questions in his car and kept record of it in his book. I answered all the harmless questions like where were you headed, who's car is it etc. I didn't comment when he asked implicating questions like why were you racing. I checked everything written in the book and signed it. In hindsight, I should have STFU'd because there IS actually an exit down the end of Mclarens falls road to the and my mate did in fact find a way out before the cop drove further down the road with me to find him. But at the time I thought my mate was toast regardless so gave his name. Yes I'm a ******* dumb ass and knew I shouldn't have done it but it didn't occur to me at the time I would get done for racing. The ironic thing is we were driving very sedately up until when I got caught and I was a split second away from slowing down before I saw the cop. Definitely wasn't a good call and I'll never do it again, but in all honesty I just wanted to see if my car could keep up with his accord. The answer to that question is going to cost me a fortune. My mate'll be getting a visit in the next couple of days from the officer. I'm 99% sure it went out the window when I gave my mates name, but do I have any defence? Is there any way I can get the street racing charge dropped? Lesson learned for sure.

I was under the impression more rear toe would make the car more stable at its limit, no? 1:17 on warm up - wow

I agree with what you said Cam about whatever the buyer pays being market price However I think Clinton did in fact get a bargain at $40k will get his money back (and then some) in 6 months time. The owner obviously needed/wanted a quick sale, hence he let it go for $10k less than initial asking price. As much as I don't like these, that is very good buying at 40k.

New record - 3 days! http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=34170

That would without a doubt, be the most rational choice.

I didn't realise Jeremy Clarkson was a member here. Clint - Judging by history, I think you're going to buy something completely different (and probably way more awesome and pricey) than any of the SUVs mentioned in this thread. Another option

So you've sold the X5 to buy the equivalent model from Mercedes? Just got bored of the X5?

485kW... Are you kidding me? That is ridiculous!

Wow I love it.

Reminds me - This one year the Metalwork teacher thought it'd be a good idea to turn a beat up '83 corolla into a ute for the caretaker. He let some mongs go to work on it with grinders, some plywood and a bit of gorilla grip. They predictably did a rubbish job. I don't think the teacher considered the limitations of a 1000kg FWD car's rear springs with regards to carrying loads. 1 cinder block in the tray had it almost pulling wheelies. Straight pipes made the 1300 sound a little more lively though.

Looks whack. Those cars must be unbelievably hard to handle.

Got any spare e28s lying around?

Drove the old man's X5 3.0d to Hamilton and back on Thursday. Got 7.3l/100km. I was trying pretty hard.

Now I feel like a massive tool, what a mint car.

My bad, thought it was some ricer POS ferrari 360 replica thing. Initial comment retracted.

Good riddance. Wouldn't mind betting the modifications made to it were the cause.
