  1. Bump, any more advice people? How can I correctly diagnose what is causing the problem? Is there a way to test the rear boot wiring? It's super annoying have this pop up every time the lights are on. All headlights and foglights are the same brand/type of bulb so it's nothing like that. Will try again to unplug the headlight adjusters but don't want to break 20 year old brittle plastic. Is there a way I can test the CCM?

    E34 ACS 540i

No real updates here. Car has done a few thousand kms over the last couple weeks road tripping around the North Island and also done a fair bit of boat launching. It tows really well, still absolutely love it. I'm going to have the Type I's refurbished/repainted. Any recommendations as to where to go? My brother has used Wheel Fix It and the results looked pretty good, they are mobile too. Any other experiences?
  3. As above, alternator needed for an E30 325i. Mine needs rectifier, bushes and voltage reg so thinking replace will be easier/cheaper than recon. Cheers!
  4. Our lineup would look a lot better if we both upgraded Dan
  5. Hi all I am interested in any E34 M5's that might be coming up for sale sometime soon. I am no rush at all, more than happy with my 540i for now. If you could please keen an eye and an ear out for any that might be coming onto the market over the next 12 months I would appreciate it. 3.6 or 3.8. RHD only. Thanks Roo - 021 811 423

    E34 M5's

Dragging this up from the dead a wee bit, wondering if anyone knows what the last 3.6 and 3.8 sold for in NZ? Thanks!
  7. The carpark/building wasn't great for photos so didn't get many but 3 of us went for a drive after.
  8. Update - Had a play after work. Loom going up the boot hinge had worn through its fabric sheath and could see the wires but none of the actual wires were exposed. I taped this up. Headlight adjuster motors were a bit more tricky. I can't get either of the clips/plus off. They are really close to one of the bulb holders which makes it tricky (yes I was pushing the tabs out) and I didn't want to pull too hard as the motors don't look all the sturdy to be tugging off. Any tips for getting these plugs off?

  10. Seems like quite a common problem. People who have replaced the LKM actually had their lights stop working. Sounds like just the warnings could be wiring/headlight adjusters etc. CCM is a good idea. Will ingestive these options tonight.
  11. No it doesn't, not when the brake light one comes up. Obviously deems this is as more important than the clock etc which it is. Am aware I can have the same details showing next to the radio, would like both working properly though.
  12. It's a super annoying quirk though as I can't use the OBC for clock, fuel consumption, range etc while they are all showing up. A lot of people put it down to headlight adjusters so will unplug those and see if it fixes it. Will also inspect boot hinge wiring tonight.
  13. Hi team Having a few off errors pop up on my OBC - 1994 E34. First of all - all lights/fogs/brakes are working perfectly. When driving around with my lights off, nothing pops up. As soon as I turn my lights on I get the following errors: DIP BEAM TAIL LIGHT LISC. PLATE LIGHT and then as soon as I brake I also get: BRAKE LIGHT None of these show up unless the lights are on. So it has to be some weird wiring thing. I have read a few different explanations/fixes: Rear boot wiring loom - Would this effect dip beam also? Re-solder/replace LKM - Anyone done this? Unplug headlight motors - Would this effect tail/lisc/brake lights? Any ideas? Thanks!
  14. Yeah I was going to say, what are the differences with the iS - looks similar to any motorsport 540i plus manual transmission. I was excited to see this go up on TradeMe at that price as it is similar to mine.
  15. The general public cannot get name and address info from a vehicle's number plate. These details are only given to car dealers and finance companies and other case by case approved parties who need to know who owns a vehicle. Even harder to get that info if the person has opted out. So the guy doesn't really have anything to worry about.

Tossing up between coilovers and springs. Almost all of my previous cars have had coilovers but I'd like to go with springs if I can get the right height as then I don't have to worry about welding new shocks etc. Any input from others members?

Thanks guys. I'm not sure on the engine upgrades part but I doubt it. Mainly just wheels, exhaust, spoiler, wing mirrors - think that's about it. I love the Type 1's and I won't ever sell them. Will see how the 3's look once I've lowered it. I need to get the 1's refurbished too. Took the sunny Sunday we had in Auckland and cleaned the car and went for drive. Last photo had some help from photoshop - shows my plan + LSD.
  18. Any chance you have a broken or busted one that I could take a motor out of?
  19. Does anyone have a setup all ready to bolt in (fronts welded) that they would be interested in selling? Would rather not have to deal with extra shocks and welding the fronts etc if I can just buy a set and bolt them in. Thanks!

    Benz E63 AMG

I got down to 10.8 in my 540i over the weekend with lots of open road driving. That was four adults and boot full of stuff too. 14 around town though.
  21. I was gonna say that looks like f/1.2! Nice car mate.

I've only had it for about 6 months now, the previous owner had it for 10 years and is a friend of a friend. It was for sale on here a couple of years ago: http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/36585-1994-e34-540i-se-ac-schnitzer-for-sale/
