    E34 LSD

Just tried to PM you Greg but it said you cannot receive any new messages??
  2. Not sure if these have been posted before (or belong to a member?) but a nice collection of E34's for sale. The 540i and 535i are pretty well priced considering what people have been asking for manual E34's recently. Although high kms. Manual 540i http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-693229260.htm Manual 535i http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-726669464.htm Automatic 535i w/ 119kms! http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-726669559.htm
  3. Nice buy, also a member of the 540i on Schnitzer wheels club but Type I for me. Also very surprised to hear about good fuel economy. Around town I only get around 400kms from a full tank at $170.

    E34 LSD

Excuse my naivety but this diff would work in my automatic E34 540i if I swapped the input flanges over? What would the ratio be like?
  5. It was taken on Greenlane East, leading up to the motorway. Chima, I almost hit him cos the iL is so loooong.

    E34 ACS 540i

I've had an annoying knock and wobble up front recently, JCBMW diagnosed it to be tie rods, sway bar links and drag bar. Quoted $1600 + labour to fix. I did some research and ordered Lerforder items through Pelican Parts which arrived within a week from the States for $450. Installed over the weekend and what a difference! Car feels great, super tight up front. Like new again. Due to this new found tightness it outlined a problem with the Type III's and them having the wrong locator rings. So they are off temporarily until I sort the right size. Really recommend Pelican Parts, very professional, took the time to make sure I had ordered the right parts given it was for a RHD car when they mostly deal with LHD.
  9. Yeah that does sound like the right size. Where is best to purchase them. Would prefer aluminium over plastic.
  10. Hi team I have an E34 540i, recently fitted some AC Schnitzer Tye III's from an E39 and they are causing a pretty nasty shake at speed - wrong hub rings. My E34 with ACS Type I's have flat metal hub rings, these don't work in the III's. The III's have sloped green ones. Any idea what size I need? And best place to get them from? Thanks!
  11. Yeah while it is tidy and NZ new is great, is it really worth that much? 8k maybe?
  12. Feel free to flick anything suspect like this in the future to me in PM or whatever. I work for Trade Me Motors
  13. Or pricing mistake. Probably meant to be $119,000.

    E34 ACS 540i

Small update from me. Borrowing (maybe buying?) Daveo's AC Schnitzer Type III's while I have my Type I's refurbished. Also just ordered new Lerforder sway bar links, tie rods and and drag link from Pelican to give the front end a freshen up. Also had the car serviced at Jerry Clayton - very happy with the level of service and extremely competitive price wise on an older car like this.
  15. Lemforder through Pelican seems pretty good. Made in Germany and apparently supplied parts to BMW? Tie Rod $45 each x 2 Drag Link $132 Sway Bar Link $33 each x 2 Total: $288 USD + shipping ???
  16. Thanks guys. I had the car serviced at Jerry Clayton yesterday and asked them to diagnose exactly where the movement is coming from. They came back with the following parts needing to be replaced followed by their full retail cost but said there would be some room to move as the prices are pretty old. I doubt anyone has ordered this stuff for a few years! R/S Sway Bar Link $85 L/S Inner Tie Rod $332 Center Tie Rod/Drag Link $899 So I'm thinking I'll do drag link, both tie rods and both sway bar links. Like Lionel said above, replacing just the worn out parts seems like false economy to me as the others will need doing at some point too. I can't get over how expensive the drag link is. Any other suggestions?
  17. I have a bit of lateral play in both my front wheels and have traced it down both inner and outer tie rod ends. I think you have to replace the whole bar w/ both ends. Where is the best place to get these? Waiting on a price from Team Mc and Speed have quoted $157 + GST each. Anywhere else I should try? They look like this and the part number (I think) is 32211135668.
  18. Hi team. Think my one could be causing a strange noise on startup. Ideally want one local (Auckland) that would let me borrow it for a couple of days so I can swap mine out and see if it fixes the issue, if so will buy it. Anyone have one lying around? Car is 94 E34 540i automatic.
  19. Also, I'm not talking about the very brief chirp right on start up, that is belt slip. More the 1 - 2 sec long noise straight after that.
  20. I'm reasonably sure it's not coming from the gearbox. More sounds like an auxiliary component in the engine bay. Starter not retracting?
  21. It's not a whine like I've previously heard with a belt slip. Will check PS fluid.
  22. Hi team, strange noise on startup on my 94 E34 540i. Only does it sometimes and more often when hot. Never at idle or any other time. Link to video I just captured Also there is a very strange noise which I struggle to describe which occurs at idle in drive when sitting in traffic for a long period of time. The closest thing I can liken it to is very faint truck horn about a kilometre away. It's reasonably short and I can feel a very light vibration through the brake pedal when it happens. It almost feels like the brake booster is releasing built up pressure or something like that? Hard to record as it happens rarely and only briefly.
